I just wish one of the sonic advance games was on switch online expansion but they don't celebrate events. Nice mod for vid I admit though of course Sega didn't wanna bother making game gear standalone nor on physical without needing the code.

I'm gonna be the villain and say it, this isn't really a solution. It's another problem substituting the initial problem. You have to scroll over to the actual partner select, manually scroll and select the player character, and then the secondary character. Basically replacing something that, albeit was boring but functional, with something pretty, but needlessly convoluted. If the initial character select was an issue, then this is not the solution. But since this is the same community that seems to praise the fan content cause "It's not SEGAs work, so it's automatically better" I'm not sure what else I expected
Fun fact: in Sonic 1, you need to use debug mode to select Sonic and Tails, and in sonic 3, for some reason Knuckles and Tails isn't an option. Edit: it's because they loooooove sticking to the original story. No fun allowed. The same reason they purposely changed it so that Super Sonic isn't normally accessibile in Sonic 1 (without debug mode, so the game doesn't save).

I have my doubts you did anything special besides an UI change since you ONLY showed an already existing partner combination instead if showing a playable Tails with a different partner.

I was thinking of a mechanic like sonic advance 3 were each combination would have special abilities like amy & sonic amy can hit sonic like a golf ball at different angles and different forces
I'd prefer if it was the same as the mobile versions where we could have multiple savefiles and be able to select any completed level. SEGA screwed up the hard work of the mania team.
Keep in mind it only took 1 person to do this yet Sega is large company and couldn’t do this to their own mascot keep in mind you as people when they think of sega they think of sonic

Can you do similar Partner Modes for Sonic 1 and 3&K? I know CD can’t have it but Sonic 1 has a Sonic & Tails mode that was dummied out in Origins.
