Thank you for helping me design and build my Panel Pro! There is a small demonstration on mine working on my Kanesville & Western. It really nice to walk around with my iphone and be able to access turnouts from across the room.
Glad it helped. Passing along what I learned from another modeler! I use my iPad displays a lot! Much easier than building a new control panel. And you you locate the iPads wherever you need them, as many as you want. All working thru JMRI.
I have only fooled around with running trains from another location within my local network. I have not tried to do it from another geographic location outside my local router. You'll have to work on that yourself!
This was a great explanation, thank you for doing the tutorial. Just a side note, when you went to the safari portion at 15:00 in the video, the top line of your apps starting with the second one, Flying together, United airlines, fitplan, and Kayak, it looks like it says F U C K.. juvenile, I know but I couldn’t help seeing it and found it funny. Lol.
seems simple but my browser is saying "could not open page because the server stopped responding".... Is this another setting I need to change -or- something on my home network (Orbi) ?
My first thought is that you haven't set up or turned on the web server. If you haven't set it up, do that on the Preferences page (Edit>>Preferences>>Web Server). You can also start the server automatically every time you start JMRI by checking that choice on the Preferences Page. Otherwise you can start the server here: Tools>>Servers>>Start JMRI Web Server. Hope this helps.
@@jimworcester981 thanks. It was the firewall that was “on” for my private network. Once I turned it off all was good. I just don’t know why I need a firewall on private network?

Great Video Jim! Thanks for sharing!
This was really helpful. Thank you for posting it. 👍👍
Excellent, just what I wanted.
I’m using a first generation Ipad Pro 12.8 as well: still working perfectly!
Followed your instructions to the letter but my iPad can't connect to my IP/port address, but it connects fine to my PC where JMRI is installed.
Jim do you know how to setup your JMRI to your internet firewall so that you can you can run your layout anywhere?

I’ll look!
Wasn't intended!
@@jimworcester981 I know it wasn’t intended and it was silly of me to point it out but once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it, lol.
