- 1990:
32. June 27. Dave's plumbing story; "Wow! Giant Dominoes" in the hallway. With Robert Pastorelli. A Top Ten.
Note: The show's Technical Director, sitting to Hal's right, is future Late Show Director Jerry Foley.
33. July 25. Dave's NYC story; a large raft inflated in the elevator. Bette Sussman subs for Paul. A Top Ten.
34. August 9. Paul's tools; three models bust plates (Kelley Browne, Serena Rojas, and Stephanie Rousch). A video Top Ten.
35. September 6. A tribute to the U.S. Open with Larry Bud.
36. October 30. Samoan Fire Dance (John Toli, Virginia Morgan, and Shirley Gray). And later in Meg Parsont's office.
37. December 18. Paul introduces the Texas Tornadoes; staging of "The Nutcracker" by floor crew and stagehands Al Maher, Mike Maxwell, Charles Calco, and Terry McKearnin.
1991:
38. January 15. Hula hoop artist Dania Kasseva from the Moscow Circus. And a Paul quiz.
Note: This show aired the day before the beginning of the first Gulf War. At the time, no one knew when it would start, thus Dave and Paul's comments on whether this would air or not. The war would commence the following early evening, ET. While Late Night taped its show then, it never aired due to the subsequent round-the-clock news coverage preempting all regular programming.
39. April 24. Fig Newton's 100th year, and 125th year of ASPCA combined: nine dogs eat nine bowls of Fig Newtons.
40. May 23. Dave's impression of Sally Jesse Raphael; Vince Bruce, roper from "The Will Rogers Follies."
41. July 23. Michael Hirsch's Moroccan Dance with a tray balanced on his head.
42. August 20. Dave's two Esquire covers; a telephone quiz for the GE Answer Center operator; World's Youngest Professional Yo-yoist Jennifer Baybrook, with Pete Fatovich subbing for Hal.
43. November 5. Member of the Moscow Circus Gennadiy Chizhov and his rat: "Ratango". Plus a Dave physic story, then a faux pas.
44. November 19. Dave's pizza story; Rios Brothers (Michel and Mehdi Ssene), acrobats from the Big Circus. And a Cold and Flu Season Round-the-Horn.
45. November 28. "Hal Gurnee's Holiday Treat": The return of Dania Kaseeva, now with the Big Apple Circus, and her Hula Hoops. With guest Macaulay Culkin.

Hey! I was in the audience for the May 23, 1991 clip. In fact...and this is true...I'm the one who yelled out "Fred Travelena!"
You shoulda gotten paid! :)
@@dongiller I was just so thrilled...beyond excited...to be there. I went two night in a row. What a thrill.
And you weren’t even kicked out. :)
@@dongiller Did that typically happen in cases of unsolicited audience participation?
Probably depended on the circumstance. I would think what you did was fine, especially since Dave appreciated the help.
@ Don Giller... ..LOVE these segments, Don !!! 😁 ..each time the camera goes into the control room to show Hal, Pete always seems SO serious, while Jude Brennan is doing everything she can to keep from busting out laughing..!!! 🤣😂🤣 ..and, I dont remember ever seeing the contortionist (from segment 2), plus I dont remember seeing the second appearance of the hula-hoop lady... ..those are probably my favorite 'time killers'.. ..plus, I enjoyed the banter between Paul and Dave around the 31:10 mark, where Paul comically asks Dave if he set his light bulbs ahead or back..!!! 🤣😂🤣 ..and... ..the thing that makes Late Night different from Johnny Carson was/is the fact that Dave took the time to include his crew and band in lots of different skits and gags... ..with Johnny, you werent able to place faces with names (other than "Freddie DeCorddovva", as Don Rickles would say)....with Dave, people like Hal, Biff, Laurie "Rose" Diamond, Mary Connelly, Barabara Gaines, Jude Brennan, and even Candy Carrell were able to get into the act and become part of the 'Late Night' viewing family ! ..thanks again, Don !!! I LOVE these segments !!! 💛 ..keep up the good work, but take care of yourself, too ! 😎
After Wow, Giant Dominos! the bumper music is “Domino” by Van Morrison.
Nice catch.
I love me some Hal Gurntro.
It’s Gerner.
Hal's Time Killers evolved from "it's funny because it's lame" irony to sometimes genuinely cool stuff. They should've had those Samoan fire dancers on as full-fledged musical guests.
Towards the end, it was getting tedious because I think Dave felt burnt out. Idk. But watching now, it was so good n busy & current talk show late night needs to recheck this entire era. Dave had an edge yet was respectful. Miss it all so much. Good times🤪
..they should've got Paul Kreppel ('Sonny Mann') from the 80's comedy series 'It's A Living' [ 'Making A Living' ] to fill in for Paul during the July 25th episode ! ..he would've fit in perfectly ! 😎
Gawd, do i miss Dave. I never missed a night, back inna day. The ‘Husky Idler’ bit i remember quite well. There was a pervert who would stalk me when i worked at the So Cal Renaissance Faire. He was forever more The Husky Creepy Idler.
Wow, Dave made a random Sam Peckinpah reference during the replay of the domino topple.
Such a good quip 😅
Anton should have done a rimshot at that gag about Paul's hair, and Paul could have turned to him and said, "et tu, Anton?"
Dave and I both love the Hula Hoop Artist. ;)
Loved the hula hoop lady from Moscow!
Don - Was the Gulf War show on 1/16 scrapped or did it air at a later date? If it was scrapped, do you still have a copy? An unaired Late Night...what a treasure THAT would be.
It never aired. I may have the only copy.
@@dongiller Oh...man. Can you please post it?
I’ve included the Art Donovan appearance and the last Peace Through Dramatization Players skit in their respective compilations.
@@dongiller Fair enough...
Boy, when there was a need it seems LNWDL always had extra-gorgeous models.
