I was on a Sydney 41 in the racing division, right in the heart of this storm. Thank you for capturing it! We did fine, nobody was hurt, nothing broke, we were wet and sore but not scared- when you have a good team, there is no fear, just caution and confidence.

Extraordinary experience, vivid images. Pity Man hasn't found a way of harnessing even a fraction of that awesome natural power. But Nature is there to teach us humility and perhaps show the way - in time!

wow you all have some onions to be sitting on deck like that during an intense lightning storm like that. Lake MI is not for the faint of heart, as Ted Turner famously discovered. :) Incredible footage for sure!
I can see you shook the reef about 15 mins before Vayu did. But we started 20 mins behind you, so it's about the same. We were certainly in the same storm at the same time. Brutal race. My best memory is using XM Weather to thread the needle past as many microcells as possible, and making sure we were ready for the 8-10 we couldn''t. We clocked 54 in one of the microcells. Not the 95 plus of 2011, but still survival sailing. I don't like it when it happens, but thank US Sailing for comprehensive training!
I'm not one who is normally afraid of storm, heck I take lightning photos... on a boat in the middle of a lake, that would make me uncomfortable. You have some ⚽️⚾️🥎
