- Saturday night storms during 2022 Chicago Mac race aboard s/v Off-Piste. This was the first of 3 large cells throughout the night. Our instruments cut out for a while but reports from several other racers and weather reports indicated peak gusts from 60-65kts.
From a safety at sea standpoint, you should have tied off your reef (less sail area( and put up a storm jib to have some helm balance. We were in the same storms. we reefed right before we hit the squalls and switched to our storm jib, reefed and tied off the main so it didn't present more surface tor the wind to use. Still an impressive video. Thanks for sharing . --JJ
Big time yes
Hi! I'm working on a special story about the upcoming Mackinac Race for Fox 32 Chicago. Do you mind if I use a few clips of your video for my story? The sound is so good!! Thanks
Hi, yes you may. Will you be mentioning the boat name or anything? Can you keep me in the loop on the story so I can see and share?
remember that...finally a great video!
absolutely bonkers!
That’s bonkers!
Was out there on our 36.7! Lots of fun.
Does the lightenings prefer water to hit?
It's hard to know but with over 200 boats, I don't know of 1 that got hit.
I know a few that got hit. We sailed a J105 on the race. It was crazy long, wet, and relentless. The race itself wasn't a long one, but the rain and dire conditions,,,ugh.
@@airspeed101 Suspect got hit.
What’s the deal with the camo foul weather gear? 😂😂
