This is what the 4 wheeling community needs to go back to. Simplicity, fun, and having your own innovation and ideas into your own rig and using what works. Awesome video, and super cool story.

Great video, I really enjoyed listening to your folks (your mom is a great interviewer). The LC is really cool! Surely they have more stories about old school wheeling and hot rodding, we need more!!

That was a great trip down Memory Lane. Thanks.
I remember our family Jeeping trips in the late 60s and early 70s when dad would point out those crazy crazy folks trying to 4-wheel a Toyota Boat Anchor rather than drive a Jeep! Though I do recall thinking those Toyotas had a nice visual appeal!
Thanks for the story of your LC. It was great to watch.

The first "off road" rig that my family had was a 1952 Plymouth Station Wagon that my Late Dad bought for $25.00 and drove it home. We cut the body off and he cut out a foot of the wheelbase and gas welded it back together in our driveway. The local Chevy dealer in Huntington Beach ,CA. took it in on trade for a 1968 Chevy Station Wagon with the funky woodgrain trim and it had the 375 horse 327. That was the car that my older sister drove to high school.

The first jeep I ever rode in was a golden eagle cj7 with no doors when I was 5. It definitely influenced my current jeep I'm running. Pretty awesome to see the innovation your dad had.

Awesome, this video really made my day. Your dad is so cool. You were born into offroading, and hot rods, baptized in car culture. Your mom is also cool, taking off fast.
From these stories, you had a great childhood filled with adventures.
By the way, you look like your dad.
thanks again for another great video. 🤙

Solid Gold! Rusty is the epitome of OG. The chrome hood aprons are 100% badass and I’ve thought that from the moment I saw it years ago. The aluminum roof was years ahead of its time. I loved Bonnie’s additions to the clip. It seems the more things change, the more they stay the same. I’ve never left for a trip on a full night of sleep. I wonder how many times Jack & Darcie would offer to drive my rig so I could catch some zzz’s.

This is the kind of video I like to see again and again on my large screen. Thank you. Because this "Chevyota" is beautiful but sober too. In the USA only you can built such a machine, not in France where I live 😠. FJ40 are so expensive here, so I keep my old rusty LJ73, waiting for an opportunity. Enjoy your car and keep on making us dreaming with other videos. (Sorry for my bad Frenchy English).

Modified beyond repair. You even put heep taillights on it?!?! Yuck!!!! "Toyota didnt make a good motor"?!?!?! What in the actual heck are you talking about? This truck would have been valuable had you not molested it, now it's worth what a jeep is worth, not much.

    • @HarrySituations

My father has never been a purist, from his T Bucket with a nailhead engine to removing the bezel from the front of his Land Cruiser. As for the engine, the original F series made 95 horsepower and weighed 750 pounds. The Big Block makes four times as much horsepower but weighs the same. So year, I would say that is better.

    • @Zukuri620
      @Zukuri620 2 роки тому +1

@@HarrySituations To each his own. The original engine supplied sufficient torque to propel the truck anywhere it needed to go. Keep in mind, HP is a function of torque, thus comparing the 200 ft*lb output of the original engine with the 290 ft*lb of the 302 makes for a much less impressive gain. Consider that the F engine could make this figure at 1,800 rpm instead of the 302's 4,200 rpm and you've gone from low rpm off-roading (design intent), to balls to the wall gas guzzling (can you say lower back and kidney issues).
It's a unique blend of Detroit sourced "upgrades", wonky 70's auto "fashion", and shade tree mechanic work, I'll give you that. But, you had better keep it as an heirloom, cause the second you put that thing on the market, you will be sorely disappointed at its value as a real Landcruiser. Cheers!
P.S. Could have skipped all the parts swapping and just bought a Heep to begin with!
