This is one of the most moving documentaries I've seen on UA-cam. This city might be extremely poor but they have some real ass people living in The Quip. Best high school football team in The US. You guys have to do a follow-up. Real respect from Baltimore, Maryland
This video aged well. 3 state championship appearances in a row and won 2/3 in AAAA as a single A team. I grew up poor in Aliquippa and work here until this day. Go Quips.
I was first introduced to your football team back in 1988...I'm from Berwick, PA and we played your team in the state playoffs and I've followed your program ever since...we won in '88 and you won the year after I graduated in '91.....you have such an incredible program there and have brought amazing talent out of your area since then......God bless everyone in the city of Aliquippa from some fans here in Northeastern PA!
Cami Badolato Berwick has a Great Tradition of it's own..C/O2000..I was 9 yrs old in 91'..I watched Ty Law return a punt to end that game against Berwick..27-0..at South Stadium in the Burgh..our town is definitely rough.. but I take the good with the bad.. We Love our Quips..Even long after HS is over..Thank u for ur comment..from a Quip to a Bulldog!
I know about Aliquippa Pa first hand. I grew up in Jeannette Pa. My father worked in the Edgar Thompson steel mill in Braddock Pa. as Jeannette, Aliquippa starts their football players at an early age. They start them out in their Midget football program. At least that’s what they called the program when I played for the Jeannette Midgets back in 1964- 1967. When I played, a player started at the of 9 and played until he was 13 years old. Aliquippa was called the Aliquippa “Little Steelers”. Jeannette was called at that time the Jeannette Midgets. When I played we beat Aliquippa. However, Aliquippa had some great players and we did too. Yes I do know about Aliquippa!!!
Aliquippa's my home town, too. So much so that my uncle, Clifford Smith, wrote the words to "Wave, Red and Black," the AHS alma mater and you know those big lights that have illuminated the football stadium for the last 80 years? They were erected by my father, Harold Smith, and the reason he took the job was to get the money to pay the doctor for my birth. Like they say about so many places, you can take the kid out of Aliquippa but you can't take Aliquippa out of the kid. And to steal a few lines from Camelot: Think back on all the tales that you remember Of Aliquippa. Ask ev'ry person if he's heard the story, And tell it strong and clear if he has not, That once there was a fleeting wisp of glory Called Aliquippa! Now say it out with pride and joy! Aliquippa! Aliquippa! Gone but not forgotten. Forrest "Tim" Smith, AHS Class of '56
I escaped western PA long ago. Aliquippa is no joke. I was scared driving through that place. Rough area. I hope it can come back, the downtown looked like a nuclear bomb hit it last year when I drove through. I use to go in Franklin Pool Hall years ago. Pool hall and fishing store combo. Crazy. Even bought Swedish fish for 1 cent ea in a baggy.
Its located on the opposite side of the river styx. You need to take a ferry across! Nah jk it's about 15 min drive from Pittsburgh international airport. Im from there, I went to a small Catholic school in downtown aliquippa up to 8th grade which is no longer there. The church is still there but the school is defunct. Because of where I lived I actually went to high school at Hopewell which is right next door. Literally when we played quip we would already have our uniforms already on because the locker room for the visiting team was disgusting and like I said it's right next door, was probably less then a five minute ride! I believe they left the opposing team's locker room and showers like that on purpose to kind of depress you before the game and have the players question whether or not they had a recent tetanus and hepatitis shot! Lol. Playing at the "Pit", is definitely intimidating for sure there is no other stadium like it! I use the word stadium lightly because there really isn't too much to it. Its a field that is cut into a hillside with bleachers on both sides. When I was playing in the late 90s fans def had to bring a blanket or a padded seat cushion unless you wanted splinters and paint chips all over your pants and in your but cheeks! Lol. Much love and respect tho for quip for real! I had lots of friends that played for them and I still root for them as long as they aren't beating up on my Hopewell Vikings! Lol. Hopewell Vikings is the funniest and biggest joke that I've said in this whole thing tho! Lol
Daniel Brunner Lived in Linmar until I was 13. Played many games in The Pit. It wasn’t until I came back as an opponent that I saw how disgusting the visitors locker room was! Looks like something out of the Saw movies.
Hopewell produced Paul Posluszny though at least, I remember seeing him and that state title team on PCN. Probably the best performance by an offensive line in a state title game I've ever seen, besides the one Henry Hynoski ran behind at Southern Columbia
Yeah we won states in 4a last year made it back again this year but came up short against a private recruiting school in bishop mcdevitt we beat them last year in states they got us this year a couple days ago
Aliquippa may be poor in sense of monitory value but when it comes to community, family and determination we are as wealthy as you can be. Aliquippa is a special place, if u come here on bullshit, that’s what u will get in return. But if you come here genuine with some respect about urself and the people around you, Aliquippa will welcome you with open arms. Every hood has its good and bad and we are no different. Aliquippa sports is just a way for the kids to have a chance at something better.
As of right now central valley better now that quip plays in 3a cv has won 3 in a row but quip and cv blowout every team thomas jefferson cv and quip the best in western pa
There's areas in Philly way worse than this, I grew up in Kensington and it was dangerous to even set foot outside, even inside it was dangerous, I had to sit on the floor so hat my head wasn't above the windows in case of a drive by shooting

Very little content. Room for improvement. Next time you'll make a better doccy-whocky.
De La Salle would probably run them to keep it real
