Happy belated birthday Richard! I missed my sisters, and three of my cousins birthdays too. I hope you had a great one! Zaavi is pre-ordering a steelbook for Nightmare on Elm Street! Love on Delivery is a decent Steven Chow comedy.
Thank you so much! Not too much celebrating this year since I had a lot to do but I also liked being busy so I guess it worked out. lol I get what you mean. I have missed a few birthdays this year but I try and at least tell them even if it's a little late. Or in one case like three weeks late. lol I ended up ordering the two VSA titles so I'll be checking out Love On Delivery. It just shipped so hoping for it to come in some time next week. I haven't watched much lately so I need to catch up. I hope you're doing good!
@@RichardDiaz Thank you Richard! Same here about needing to catch up. Hopefully it's cooler there. We're in a somewhat heatwave. This week was brutal. Next week will be cooler! :)
no universe where that happens. it was filmed so cheaply, next to zero chance it ever gets anywhere near blu-ray and negative Pi chance it ever has a 4k. Old, cheap TV shows don't ever make it to high def
I would love that too. I think part of the problem is there were songs used that would have to be re-licensed which isn't always easy. And I think (stress "I think") another problem is some of, if not all, of the episodes were finished on video. So they might have to be almost recreated by scanning the film elements and then editing the episodes. I could be wrong but I thought that was one of the issues. The same thing with other TV shows at the time. I am sure there are companies that would do it but also it would depend on whether Warner Bros would let it happen.
Hope Freddy 4k is good with no obvious GLITCHES.Effecting Quality. We need someone to Slice and Dice and CUT THROUGH 😅 the Malaise of 4k Quality going against the GRAIN of it all.Only Freddy and his DEADLY WIT CAN SAVE US NOW🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Short and sweet like a DEADLY LULLABY
Joyride sounds like a fun one! Anne Lockhart is June Lockhart(TV's Lassie and TV's Lost In Space) daughter and played Sheba in the original Battlestar Galactica tv show. Then I remember she made a couple of drive-in style flicks: Slashed Dreams a.k.a. Sunburst(1975) starring a young Robert Englund and then Joyride(1977). I think that is one of those ones owned by MGM that had been out on dvd, but never on bluray.
That is so cool! I ended up ordering that so hoping it comes in next week. If I'm at home and awake then I tend to watch Lost In Space on MeTV Saturday nights. Such a great show. Had no idea that was her daughter. I haven't seen the original Battlestar Galactica in so long. I should get the Blu-ray set out some time and do a rewatch.
I'm surprised they haven't included a Blu-ray with it. But it also means that all of the extras should be on the 4K disc which I like. Not all companies do that so I hope it happens more and more.
Thank you! Glad to be getting back to normal. Or semi normal anyway. lol I'm looking forward to seeing that Vincent Price film. Still amazed I didn't even know of it. Plus hoping for the best for Nightmare On Elm Street.
@@RichardDiaz time out where can I see the US steelbook? If there’s a different one through the US, I’ll probably pick it up. I really like collecting the Steelbooks of my favorites. I pre-ordered mine through Zavvi already but where can I find the other one?
Welcome back Richard! That set from Paramount looks cool. Like the designs but am always worried about the package quality when it comes to the big studios. Awaiting the UK release of Nightmare and hope it comes soon. Got all VS titles comkng. Plus some partner label titles. Sky pirates is one. Seems fun! Next awaiting The Hitcher from second sight. Will be so cool! Got the getman bluray but I think it was taken from a tape or interpositive and not scanndd on 4k. But will be fun to compare!
Thank you Alfonso! I hope you're doing good! I know what you mean about packaging from studios. They can be hit or miss. I just got the three main VS titles but waiting on some of the sub label ones I ordered from them. Should be here next week. I can't wait for The Hitcher! Counting down the days.
I have the Nightmare on Elm Street steelbook on preorder. Some people say they don’t like the art, but I like it 😅I’m still hoping for a box set of all the Elm Street movies though
I did the same. I have both on order but I'm going to cancel the standard. I'm ok with the artwork as well. I would definitely prefer the original one sheet artwork but I'm ok with this one. I can only hope we get a box set or at least the sequels in 4K some day. I have been talking about it for years and at this point I am just eating a lot of crow. Haha
I remember Bloodbath at the House of Death on VHS when I was a kid, it's a brittish horror spoof it starred a very popular british comic at the time Kenny Everett
Thank you!!! I can't remember too much as far as why the quality of Dark Night of the Scarecrow 2 was glaringly lower, but I definitely didn't like it as much as the original, and like the restoration of power after Hurricane Ida three years ago, that set is coming the day after my birthday. I think I'd mentioned in a previous comment that I had preordered the U.K. A Nightmare On Elm Street 4K Steelbook, but then I'd canceled that, imagining that the U.S. version was the same, only to find out that wasn't the case and re-preorder the U.K. deluxe version from Diabolik DVD because it seems to have sold out on Amazon U.K. between my canceling and trying to place the order again there.
I'll watch the second Scarecrow film but I will keep my expectations in check. lol Only a few weeks to go until your birthday! Have to wish you a happy birthday when we get closer. I'm entering my birthday weekend. Though I keep forgetting it's time for it. lol I was hoping the US steelbook for Nightmare was the same as the UK one too with all of the extra stuff. Disappointed that it is just a steelbook. Glad you were able to re-order it!
@@RichardDiaz Well, slightly early happy birthday! The day after yours is that of the cousin born a few weeks before me whom I was very close to growing up.
11:45 I think the steelbook Collector's Edition of "Nightmare OES" comes with a blu ray as well I am definitely grabbing my copy ( 11:31 : I've seen that image with the extra disc and so much more). My local seller has one on hold for me. Super excited for the release sporting the Uncut version. I currently only have the Uncut version on vhs and betamax.
I have the steelbook on pre-order too. I have both but I am going to cancel the standard. I can't wait for it to come in. That is one I will watch as soon as it arrives.
The paramount scares 2 box set World War Z 4k doesn't appear to be unrated version. It states bonus features that includes unrated cut on bluray. I could be wrong though if thinfs changed.
Also, hi-res image of the set has bluray label that indicates special features and unrated version on bluray. 4k just has the normal title. No mention of unrated cut. Real bummer.
I agree! I am expecting the transfer to be really great. I'm sure the Atmos mix will be good but I do hope they did fix those missing bits from the previous surround mix.
I wouldn't agree with that. Batman 89 had a weird teal filter put over the entire movie, Batman Returns also had the teal filter. Black Adam has some weird piss colored filter over the movie, Superman Returns got a grey/brown filter put over the movie. The last Matrix movie had some green filter put all over it. Warner is the filter studio, they're afraid to let you see the actual intended color of movies.
I pre-ordered the steelbook version of Nightmare On Elm Street because of the horrible standard edition cover, I don't understand why they didn't use the original poster art, I can't wait to see that in 4K. I hope someone will release a new Blu-Ray set of all the movies with new transfers, they really need some TLC.
I did the same. I ordered both but will be cancelling the standard. I really wish they did use the original one sheet artwork as well. I keep hoping we get new releases of the sequels. Nothing yet. I am hoping that Synapse announces the pre-orders soon. It is possibly still coming before Halloween. There have been a few times they will announce a title to order and it's basically ready to ship. But I also know they don't want to rush it out so we'll see. But the first sign of anything I am making a video right away!
Hi Richard, hope you have been well. Thanks for covering these new announcements! The Paramount Scares box, I am not really wowed by, but I did preorder it. The price was lower than volume 1, so I am wondering if there will be no "mystery" title included this time. From what I understand with the VS Vincent Price title, he is only in it for 5-10 minutes~and it is a spoof type movie. Just in case you weren't sure about it.
Thank you! I hope you're doing good too. I didn't see anything about this set having a surprise film. Just the four which is why I'm guessing it is cheaper. If it drops a bit more I think I'll grab it too. I was looking more into the Vincent Price film and I think I know why I hadn't really heard of it before. lol That sucks he is only in it for a few minutes but I'm also not surprised. Still looking forward to seeing it but I'll keep my expectations a bit low. lol
i watched the Elm Street trailer on YT and thought the transfer wasn’t all that - I’ll be curious to see reviews of the 4K but will prob pick it up regardless 🤷🏻♂️
Not sure why anyone in any universe would ever judge something based off of a UA-cam video between the studio video compression and UA-cam's weird video compression nothing in any universe ever looks good on UA-cam
@@lutherheggs451 it was a trailer in 4K that I watched on my 4K TV…. granted streaming never matches physical media but it should at least have some ‘wow’ to it - no?

Code Red! I was trying to remember who put it out before. That's the one I have too. Haven't watched it in a few years. I had to check but it looks like this release ports over the extras from that release which is good.
I have not seen Bloodbath At The House Of Death either but remember the VHS cover with Vincent Price. I recently saw the preview on you tube and it looks like a spoof like Saturday The 14th. So I didn't order it. I ordered Devil Times Five and Hell's Trap. I had Hell's Trap on VHS as Trampa Infernal and it's O.K. but it's more like action than horror. As always thanks for the heads up Richard!👉🏼🙂👈
Thank you Hector! That is good to know about Hell Trap. Keep my expectations for it. I'm not expecting too much from the Vincent Price film but still cool to see something he was in that I hadn't seen before. Even if it isn't great. lol I am looking forward to Devil Times Five. Haven't watched it in a few years so it'll be great to see it again.
There is one specific thing about the Paramount scares set that I don’t think you mentioned yet is that it is NOT available in Canada. Which is really crappy because I bought the first one expecting to collect them all and when I found out about this set, I thought awesome Friday the 13th part 2 in 4K that’s pretty cool and I tried to pre-order it and it will not ship to any Canadian address only American and then I thought you know what I bet you that has everything to do with the Friday the 13th licensing issue. Because again, Victor Miller owns the rights to the first story if you will, in the United States only. So there seems to be no other justifiable reason not to offer it in Canada so I’m a little ticked about that one. As for the A Nightmare On Elm Street release, I’m definitely excited for that. I went ahead and pre-ordered the Steelbook from Zavvi. But again, I definitely feel everyone’s pain with the artwork. The steelbook artwork isn’t bad, and at least the inside is from the original film. I would’ve much rather seen the one sheet artwork or maybe the opening scene shot of Freddy’s Glove with the title rather than that other shot of his glove that is clearly not from the original film. But I think it would’ve looked great with the original glove shot from the opening. The regular HD cover is really bad and you are correct that is Freddy from the Dream Master part 4 indeed. For me a totally ridiculous choice for the 84 film but my guess is someone with too much power and not nearly enough knowledge thought that would look cool on the cover of the late Wes Craven’s masterpiece 🤷🏻♂️ I suppose we should just be glad that there is a 4K coming for us finally. Hopefully the rest of the films follow soon. I sure wish I had a crack at that Paramount scares volume 2 set but somehow I can’t help but think the Friday the 13th film is likely to blame for that weird anomaly of not being available outside of the United States. Who knows but it’s a real bummer.
Holy crap! I did not know that. What the hell?!?! That sucks on so many levels. I'd assume the North American license would include Canada which doesn't make sense why they lock it up like this. I wish they would clear up all of the legal stuff. I know it might suck money wise but can you order it from some place else that will ship to you?
@@RichardDiaz sorry Richard I was doing my usual narration 😆 as I was going through your video and I added more there regarding the ANOES releases. as for trying to get it from another supplier, I haven’t been able to find one yet. I know that Amazon will not do it and I haven’t really found it anywhere else yet. I will be keeping my eyes out for sure but I’m not holding my breath, unfortunately. Thx for the video sir!
Haha No problem! I'm glad I checked to see the rest of it. The whole cover of Nightmare is just annoying. I so wish it had the original one sheet artwork too. Not the end of the world but yeah. I do hope we still get the sequels at some point. I talked about it in the video but I edited it out. I went on too long about them. Basically saying I won't say anything more about them until I hear something more concrete. I'm tired of eating crow on them. lol I did notice that DiabolikDVD has the Paramount set and they should ship to you. Worth checking out.
@@RichardDiaz really? I didn’t know that about Diabolik. I’ll definitely check into it. Thanks for the tip man! Update: it worked! I’m probably gonna get double dinged by FedEx I’m sure for the import charges lol but worth it as I’d really like to keep this collection going. Thank you so much buddy.
Hey brother, I hope all is well with you. I have a question regarding the 4K release of Seven Samurai. Are you going with the Criterion release or the loaded BFI release? I'm just wondering because I think the BFI release is going to be the standout. Restored by Toho themselves. Fantastic
Oh! You know what, I need to check out the BFI release. Annnnnnd ... I just looked at it. Yeah, I think that is the way to go. I'll probably still get the Criterion one at some point, during a sale or something, just to make sure I have all of the extras. But wow, that BFI set looks so cool. Thanks for the heads up!
@@RichardDiazI have the criterion bluray version and it looks like it will have the same blurays with special features and just a new 4k. BFI will have the Toho transfer with Dolby vision/HDR10 so I bought that one. Unfortunately, won't be able to play region B bluray but going with better transfer.
As I recall Price's cameo in Bloodbath is about 5 or 6 minutes long (or less). It was up on Tubi tv for a couple of months. I found the movie mostly disappointing. Decent cast doesn't get much to do. Have a great weekend Richard!
That stinks though it seems like he did a couple of those small roles in a few low budget films towards the end of his life. My copy just arrived so I'll check it out soon but I'll know what to expect.
I'll be honest: I've never had faith in Paramount when it comes to physical media. Apart from a select few films/franchises (The Godfather springs to mind), they have never shown much love when it comes to fans. Sure, the transfers will be nice, but where are the extras? They aren't as bad as they were in the early days of DVD (remember when they touted subtitles as a special feature), and it may be that I've become spoiled by the likes of Scream and Vinegar Syndrome, but when you know that there's a wealth of additional content out there that should be preserved, why skimp out on it? Oh wait, money.
I completely agree. Plus they are one of the studios that never include the original, or even alternate, audio mixes. So it's like limited extras only one audio option (for English). It's why I'm happy when they license their titles out to other companies.
Have zero interest in the Paramount boxset. Hoping F13th 2 gets a standalone release. And I didn't know there were issues with the first 4K. I didn't really notice anything out of the ordinary, but I've only watched the 4K once
I'm sure all of these will get single releases. Paramount seems to do that with a lot of their titles even ones they license out to other companies. lol The clipping issues on the first Friday The 13th for the 4K release were just tough for me since it's one of my pet peeves. Having worked with video for a long time you try and avoid the harsh highs and lows of an image. A lot of people don't notice it and it is on some releases where it is not too apparent.
That box set is terrible. Most people already have Friday 2 and the rest are just kind of blah. I'm sure some people will be excited for this but I think Paramount could have done much better. I love Dark Night of the Scarecrow. I'm curious about the sequel even though it's supposed to be bad. Maybe I'll like it. You never know. I am so excited for Bloodbath at the House of Death. Even the cover art is fabulous. So I bought that and Hell's Trap just because it looked really fun. I need to rewatch Devil Times Five before I decide if I need it. I wasn't crazy about it when I saw it last. I'm really disappointed with the Nightmare on Elm Street 4k. The cover art is terrible and no good extras that I don't already have. I highly doubt they have fixed the auto issues. I really hate Warner. They should just let Scream Factory or Arrow do this right along with the other films
Oh wow! Of course now I almost want to watch it out of curiosity but I will go in knowing what to expect. And maybe I should have a drink with me. Or several. lol

For me a totally ridiculous choice for the 84 film but my guess is someone with too much power and not nearly enough knowledge thought that would look cool on the cover of the late Wes Craven’s masterpiece 🤷🏻♂️
I suppose we should just be glad that there is a 4K coming for us finally.
And ordered!
Way to go! I got one myself
I remember having pretty high expectations so it might be better for you then me. Hopefully you'll enjoy it!
Dark Night of the Scarecrow 2 is terrible, don't watch it. Looked like it was shot on a phone lol and was pretty boring overall.
Oh wow! Of course now I almost want to watch it out of curiosity but I will go in knowing what to expect. And maybe I should have a drink with me. Or several. lol
