I have not been able to coax them into doing one of my designs yet, which is disappointing, but i have one of their Ang Khola khukuri. It is an amazing blade and i have done a review video on it. Although i was sceptical at first, it very quickly won me over as it's a light weight, compact, and super tough blade. It also packs a hell of a punch for its size and weight. I absolutely recommend them.
Hey mate, I use a ceramic rod & leather on my Kukri. I’m thinking of buying a Victorinox fine steel. Is that good enough quality? They have fine & medium, from your video I’m guessing fine is better?
It depends how badly your blade is scratched. I usually start around 600 grit and polish it up from there through the grits until i hit 2000 or 3000 grit. If it's a blade that I use often, I usually force a patina on it instead and use my ancient ocean jasper whetstone and a leather strop only.
@@sundogforgebydml1050 nice thank you very much I should get some good sand paper. All I have is a bunch of wetstones for my straight razor. I have a 400 and 1000 grit diamond plate, and then for wetstones I have 2000 grit 3000,5000, 8000, 12,000 and a translucent black Arkansas stone I think I wont use my strop because it's a $60 strop and I dont want to ruin it lol. Knowing me I would.
@@Fathernsonadventures no problems at all. Once you have completed the grades of and paper you can always take an old belt and apply some polishing compound to that to use as a strop. As it's only 1 inch wide and the khukuri will have a convex cutting edge it can get into the recurved to get the job done 👍
@@sundogforgebydml1050 nice thanks for the tips. I just got to get a leather belt. Also I do have green stripping compound. I got an ex gurkha kukri house 12 inch it came with the chucmuc or how ever you spell it lol and the other one too. But they arent polished how important is it to polish them before i oil them. Which i did purchase windless sword and armor rust remover and blocker. But I dont have anything to polish it with.
@@Fathernsonadventures you can oil them anytime and the sooner, the better. The oil won't affect the polishing. Definitely re- apply oil after polishing as well though...
Great video excellent sharpening techniques! Your khukuris are awesome
Thank you so much mate, I appreciate that 😊. Hopefully I'll have some Apeiron Sirupate in stock instead of pre- order on the coming months 😊
Good info, thanks!
My pleasure 😊
Thanks for your videos I've found them very informative. As you collect kukri's I was wondering what your thoughts are on Heritage Knives?

@@sundogforgebydml1050 Thanks for your reply & info I forgot that I'd already watched the review of your Heritage Knives Kukri lol.
@@nickashton3049 all good! 😊
Any specific sharpening rod you would recommend? Or maybe some to steer away from?
Personally, i stay away from diamond rods as i believe them to be too aggressive but fine ceramic rods are good.
@@sundogforgebydml1050 thanks for the fast reply! Just ordered my first Kukri, can't wait to get it
@@Rockstar22ize no worries! It's always an exciting time!
May one please have the link to the exact sharpening stick? Thanks. You said expensive ... what’s that? 99$? 200$?
I use a Wusthof honing steel. I paid 160aud but you can certainly find them cheaper if you look around 😊

Fine is definitely better. I haven't tried victorinox though so i can't say for sure.
Bugger. It’s $40 and I don’t want to waste money. I’ll stick with what I have. Thanks for the reply.
So what grit sand paper do you use. I'm getting my first kukri in soon and I want to polish it and put a really nice but strong edge on it.
