    High nitrates,high light and phosphates detectable. My tank 15-30 nitrates with high par sps/mixed tank and phosphates below .30 my tank is looking best its been in along time with 15ish nitrates and .57 phosphates

    Great topic, and thanks for sharing March, running nitrates 5ppm, and phosphates at 0.03ppm using reeffactory smart phosphate tester. I have disable algae on rocks, but it is low amounts.

    I run nitrate at 10ppm and phosphate at 0.05-.1ppm in a 180 mixed
    It could be high but visual cues are not always immediate.

    Really interesting to see that result - did you test it again with the Hanna Checker to see if just that reading was off? Sometimes fingerprints on the glass sample can cause reading issues. I run my tank at 0.04 phosphates and 4ppm Nitrates. I recently did a big clean out of my sump and a 20% water change and my Nitrates zeroed out and were undetectable. My euphyllias (Hammers and Frogspawn) shrivelled up and were not happy, as soon as the Nitrates got back to 3-4ppm they were great again so thats what I keep it at now

    If no3 is undetectable then po4 will not naturally drop, there needs to be no3. I would retest and then double check with an 2nd test kit. Also make sure you are using the correct Hanna reagent, there are a few po4 reagents for the different checkers.

      @@Tanky141 It's also not true / based on limited knowledge and understanding. Ammonia, urea and nitrite are also used by phosphate absorbing organisms. So it's too simple to say you need NO3...

      @@noahray5319 You're still too simple. That's only based on some algal uptake. Bacteria, corals, simple algaes etc are all capable of using other sources of nitrogen than nitrate. Redfield ratio is shit, you cannot use it as an argument for anything in reef tanks. Besides, denitrification through anaerobic respiration or assimilation is not dependant on P and doesn't consume C. Also read it in the context of the thread...

  • @ricardocarneiro7797

    Low NO3 + High PO4 promotes bacteria bloom and that could have been the reason of your cloudy water.
    I had NO3 at 3 and PO4 at 0.40 and I lost both my torches. This situation can cause brown jelly in euphillia and montipora also hate it.
    I noticed both my torches started slowly closing more and more each day until brown jelly set in 😭
    IMO minimum ratio of NO3 to PO4 is 10:1 but even all the way to 100:1 is fine, I would fix the nutrient ratio asap

    • @ricardocarneiro7797
      @ricardocarneiro7797 2 роки тому +1

      @@imranzaman5938 test also your salinity, torches do not like high salinity, gfo is probably the best course of action but I wouldn't bring it below 0.10 for now, I stopped having any negative effects as soon as po4 got around 0.20. Now my fuge is growing well so po4 is at 0.05, good times, high phosphates are definitely not good for coral

  • @MW-ut3dk

    High PO4 maybe related to cloudy water/snail or coral spawning event you had recently? That’s a lot of protein released at one time... 🤔. That’s what she said...🙄

    I like nitrates at 5-10ppm, and phosphates 0.03 to 0.10. I dose nitrates to keep them there. I use RowaPhos to keep phosphates low, and when they are too low I change some of my meat feedings to pellet/flake feedings to introduce more phosphates. When my nutrients go undetectable, that's when I get DINOS!!!
