How did these young and presumably Spanish (Catalan) women not only get the accent but the feeling, humor, soul, and voices of older black women singing the blues to their old men? Their harmony and understanding of the chord structure of the song are truly amazing. It is hard to grasp how not just one but three of them are doing this and doing it together.

Many times now I've watched and listened to this. I can't imagine somebody complaining about these young ladies' falsetta voices. It brings tears to my eyes when I hear it. These girls are performing unbelievable melodies. And that voice sounds more like 'Lady Day' to me. They are certainly having the fun day of their lives. I love it. MUSIC IS LOVE!!!!

OK this is insane! I have watched and listened to this piece about 30 times now and every time I enjoy it more. For me Joan Chamarro and his crew have given me a musical treasure. Dick Oatts solo, the three young ladies and the wonderful trumpeter Joan Mar Sauque are musically magic, I will have this piece played at my wake. Seriously, it is that profoundly excellent an example of everything jazz should be.

Yes I have and you are right! I have yet to find one of this group that I'm not blown away by! There is definitely some advantage to horn players when it comes to breath control and phrasing. So cool!! I've only seen Magali Datzira play the Bass but I love her voice as well.

Why is it so much more amazing to hear teenagers/adolescents perform jazz classics than it is to hear this amazing saxofonist? He is absolutely incredible.... yet we're all here to hear to listen to Andrea and Eva and all the other teenagers. It somehow is so much more awe strucking because of their age, though in reality.... just LISTEN to that saxofonist! But also... then again.... Who ISN'T amazing in these vids?

I am impressed by the pianist, at 5:04 the young man on trumpet gives a somewhat unexpected note, the pianist immediately answers with a full chord! One of the singers turns around, she has noticed the genius of that reaction. And Magali is glimmering this time with her superb interpretation!

These incredible talented young people from Barcelona can teach the so called -Jazz establishment- from the States the essence of Jazz and certainly be answering some questions. I’ve been following these very talented Jazz musicians from Spain, for years. Leaving, in my opinion, the “establishment” like the Lincoln Centre and the gigs i see on Dizzy’s well behind whats being produced from Spain and many other European live Jazz concerts. These Spanish youngsters (groups/bands) performing with an instinctive and dedicated exuberance which has been missing in the land where this fantastic inventive Jazz-music originally came from. Somehow, i feel America you’ve lost lost that incredible driven and very inspirational spark from times past when your society had an message of (innocent) hope, life-style, love and an drive for betterment for society. Well those days have sadly past. But here in Spain those “dreams” of yesteryear have been revitalised with these utterly gifted performers. Everything was unbelievably magic BUT I give the gold metal to the trumpet player for his flygerhorn type velvet sound and of cource his lovely phrasing !!! He was the cherry on the cake !

Exceptionally mature jazz vocal from these young "Ladies of Jazz". How soothing to the ears, heart, mind and soul. I simply LOVE and adore this. It should be standard therapy music for anyone in a bad mood or just needing a break from the many discouraging challenges of life.
