Note that you won't pay the China price in the USA. Expect to pay closer to $25k USD for this when / if it comes to the USA. Higher transportation & logistics costs, Federalization, tariffs & duties, dealer network will all increase the price.

Yup! China is going to cut legacy carmakers off at the knees. They can price somewhat below Western competition and still rack up big profit from high value, as we currently see in Southeast Asia, LatAm, Australia and Europe. The BYD Atto 3 is doing really well because the value proposition is so good.

It means Western corporations will have to work harder be more innovative and can no longer rely on status of their badges but it also means much reduced profit. They will never be able to compete, so EU will soon implement sanctions on these EVs.

$20,000 New York ill take one now. Looks like a $35,000. car. Damn.
Probably closer to $25k if it ever comes to the USA. This is the same size as the $27k Chevy Bolt (no longer sold), with slightly less range (250 miles vs 260 miles), and higher predicted build quality (like Tesla China vs Tesla USA). If BYD brings the 185-mile version (or the BYD Seagull) as a budget EV, it could probably be sold around $22k just to grab volume.
US auto industry & govt will never let BYD be sold in the US. Europe and Asia Pacific will get it though

My wife and I drive a Dacia Sandero "Stepway". Our car is five years old now, was produced in Morocco and we drove it 100.500 km on the bad roads here in Hungary. During these five years we only had to replace 1 lightbulb. The new price (converted from Hungarian Firint to Euro) of the car was 11.200 Euro. Just for your information.
American consumers will not get the benefits of a good and affordable car , tariffs and taxes will most likely triple it's price.
So nice design and look! However to make it more accessible to emerging markets in Africa and Asia, it would be interesting to see a lower-cost version of this model with less driving assistance electronics but keeping the most important such as emergency auto-braking devices.

I see America change in last 30 years. People paid much high price for the same car in China 15 years ago. I bought Corolla for $18,000 in China year 2004 and I remembered I paid less than $17,000 for my 2000 Camry in US. Now same Japanese cars sell less in China than in US.

There’s no competition on ev with China ~ no euro no japan ~ their supply chain is completely built as a close circuit, from very advanced battery to high quality motor, and body, software, further more they produce their own microchips……. therefore the price is reflected on their low cost …

This is a typical Chinese Tofu Dreg junk box. It will not take long to realize you have been ripped off. That is, if it does not explode in flames from the battery short-circuiting. They have very little or no quality control so it starts breaking down after three hundred miles don't say I didn't tell you so. Most petrol cars don't even have 600 km range. In China, where charging is cheap and convenient, and distances are short, 300-500 km is plenty.

In China, Low Speed EVs like the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV and Geely Panda are already under $5,000 USD for a few years already. They sell very wall, and are comparable to the Citroen Ami quadricycle LSEV.

@@TheKkpop1 OK, sure, but that's much more expensive than a $10k BYD Seagull, to say nothing of a under $5k Geely Panda. If Geely were to sell the Boyue at Panda price, they'd almost certainly lose money while leaving a LOT of money on the table.
China's pricing strategy in LatAm / Asia-Pacific markets is generally pricing under comparable Western competition by 10-15%. Because Chinese EV manufacturers roughly 15% cost advantage, they achieve same profit per vehicle, while still being an excellent value to the customer. Higher MSRP in foreign markets drives higher per-unit profits while insulating against "dumping" charges.

You may not be aware that in the ev capital of China, Shenzhen, their public transportation is 100% electric. Since 2017, all their taxis and buses have gone electric. Many of these taxis have clocked up hundreds of thousands of mileage over past 7 years.
@@kamsunleong6648 Also all rideshare! The BYD Han used by DiDi is really nice. I see that the 1st gen BYD E6 taxis are getting upward of 750,000 km on the original battery pack. The new packs are even better. Looking forward to seeing the 1st BYD EV hit 1,000,000 km!
Spare parts !! Only the battery that most concerned but with mass production the price will come down eventually . Indeed, within a couple of years the battery technology will evolve where it provides more Km than the presence.
