What are the dyes you use and how do you keep rit dyes from fading?

These are Rit dyes, but I mostly use Procion fiber reactive dyes. Using a color fixative or soda ash helps the colors stay bright. Also, not washing with a detergent that has bleach in it is necessary!

Rit dyes will ALWAYS fade, because the dye just sits on top of the fabric fibers. Procion dyes don't, because a soda ash soak makes the dye actually become part of the fibers. Dharma Trading Company (Dharmatrading.com) has everything you need plus instructional videos.

Why did u soak them in hot water to begin with? Did u soda ash them?

I did use soda ash. Hot water is best to get the chemicals off the socks before you dye them, it makes it so the dye is brighter. 👍
