Father, I listened to your teaching again and when my sister died 12 years ago, she had been away from her faith for over 20 years. I invited our cousin who is a Franciscan Priest to come give her the healing oils. It brought her terrible cancer suffering some peace and on the day before her death, another parish priest came to bring her the Apostolic Blessings. She joined her suffering to that of Christ and made a long overdue confession. She was anointed and an incredible peace came upon her. I never really knew about this blessing and was grateful my sister received it. Our family was praying the rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet for her every day for the last few days of her life. By the grace of God, she died on the Feast of the Assumption and her funeral mass was held at her original parish, Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. God blessed her in this sacrament of the anointing. Thank you for reminding me of the power of this Sacrament!

Great explanation Father James. Considering I just visited a neighbor last Sunday and asked her sister if she want a blessing of the sick, which she did, and then received it - - -and died in the night, this clarifies some of my questions. I was happy to know her sins would be forgiven after a many year abstinence from the Church, even though she was unable to speak, Jesus would welcome her. God Bless!

Having received this Sacrament on a couple of occasions I can attest to the presence of the Holy Spirit that comes with it. It does indeed bring peace, joy, comfort and interior healing and since I am still here I would say physical healing. Thank you Father for making these Holy Spirit moments present to me once again.
