    Hi Roger. Got my 2015 DC40 today (3rd May 2015) for £189. Fantastic machine. I tested the max setting on a thick pile carpet and it picked up fine dust so I think the max setting helps it have a stonger seal on the carpet and deep down clean even more. I hadn't vacuumed for 2 days and within 20 minutes of assembling the machine it was full. I can't believe how good it is

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  9 років тому

      Luke Davies Yes it is good, but I've found some dirt requires a couple of passes. It could do with a double brush on it to improve pet hair pick up. It's still the best Dyson upright I have used so far.

    You sold me. I'm buying one of these tomorrow. Dyson needs to give you a job reviewing their vacuums. I have been captivated through the whole video. Since the EU regulations I have tried numerous vacuums. Vax, Hoover both of which failed to live up to expectations. I am taking a Hoover velocity back to cirrus tomorrow to exchange for one of these. I hate the way vax and Hoover have positioned their hose attachment. It takes minutes to set them up. Dyson is the only one that is simple and quick. Thanks for a great review. Helped me a lot.

    'Maximum Fill Line' lol...
    I've seen Hoover's blocked from bottom of the bin, all way back to the brush bar !! Lol. I can just see the owner complaining, it's not sucking anymore,, take it to the tip.
    I've just had a Dyson dc50 out of a skip by my house.
    Bypass valve singing like a good un. No suck at brushbar or fleiss pipe. Opened it up, New Filter sock and Hepa filter. Owner had tried !! Blockage was at change over valve. Dog hair and Mortar.
    Stripped cleaned ready to go . 60min all in.
    The Wife is Very happy with it lol.
    Nice vids mate.
    😀👍
    Another tip for your viewers, always remove the bin,, gently tap the Cyclone to remove extra fine dust from the chamber.
    Hope it helps. 👍

    I got a karcher mv2 in the end! The 12 litre capacity, 1200w motor and ability to Hoover up spills without changing anything was too tempting! (sorry I can't do replies to original comment for some reason) I have ordered the turbo brush to go with it though as the head that comes with it is a bit hard to use on carpet. Thank you for the advice I just couldn't bring myself to have the same again and my last Dyson was truly terrible although it was years ago. My boyfriend thinks I'm so odd watching all your reviews all the time but they are great!

    • @ibaisaic

    I own one of these and an original DC01 from 1995. I have refurbished both machines. The DC01 is easier to use and easier to maintain. The DC40 is really complicated and blocks easily it is like an octopus to use and very noisy. So much for progress.

    Excellent review Roger. I've been waiting for your review on this model as I too own a DC40. One slight quibble I have with this machine is that I find it to be a little flimsy feeling, particularly the handle which tends to twist and flex a little during use. Maybe I'm an aggressive vacuumer (is that a word...). That said, it's a very minor criticism, the performance on all floor types is excellent! How do you rate it against the Sebo Felix?

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  9 років тому +2

      The Dyson agitates better than the Felix, but I think the brushes on the Felix are better. With the Dyson, some particles require two or three passes before they are removed, whereas the Felix usually gets clinging surface litter on the first pass. The Felix does seem better built and more solid than the Dyson, but it is heavier to push. They are both good cleaners and I would recommend the Felix for people who want bagged and the DC40 if they have to have bagless.

      The Felix i have they used every day in middle sized shop and still working after almost 10 years perfect i think durabillity is still a problem for a dyson.
      Same as mine Nilfisk almost 20 years old and works perfect used some times 6x times a day.

      Our dyson dc50,, just acquired from a local skip, lol.... the handle on that is Really Flimsy. @ 45 degrees twist in the handle before the head moves,, small bin, small airways , very easy to block up.

    Why is there so much difficulty when you use it on a bare floor to turn? I just got mines today. This one sounds really loud, mines is actually more quiet then my bissell (my dog loves that!Lol). It's the dyson light ball. I remember the first time i used a dyson and wondered what that red button was….i had to vacuum again lol

    Getting one of these soon, after our great experience in the first year of owning a Dyson V6, its been extremely reliable, maintained its great suction, and always does a fabulous job. We've really hammered our V6 in its first year too, but of course i've kept the filter washed once a month and bin cleaned out. We had a DC03 back in the day and it was a good machine but it never lasted long and so it put my mum off, but since owning the V6 its restored her confidence. With the modern Dyson machines, i've every confidence they'll last 10-15 years with proper monthly maintainence. Great review and demo Roger :-)

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  7 років тому

      I would be very surprised if you get 10-15 years out of any new Dyson. You'll probably find the brush roll motor is the first thing to go.

    • @guitarplayerforu
      @guitarplayerforu 7 років тому

      ibaisaic our hairdresser has a DC50 and she said she's had it for 6 years and said the only thing that went at 6 years old is the brushroll motor, a new brushroll motor ain't really that much money though so it's no big deal if it went after 6-7 years. We got our DC40 animal yesterday, its awesome, feels very well built. Can't get over how good the agitation is, it's as good if not better than the old fashioned Bagged Hoover cleaners of the late 80's/early 90's. i also love how the tangle free turbine dosen't slow down like they do on other brands.

    in your unboxing video, in the comments you said to someone you wouldnt reccomend any dyson but instead the shark powered lift.
    For cleaning power/dirt lifting would you say the shark powered lift is better?
    ive seen a couple of videos and i must say the 2015 dc40 seems to be bit better.
    Im lloking for a new hoover and this dyson does look really good( well atleast 5 time sbtter than my current one) and is does seem quieter but mainly I just looking for a hoover than cleans, because lets face it thats what a hoover is intented for.
    your opionion for general household cleaning what would you say thats better for the money in terms of cleaning?
    Also doesnt have to be dyson or shark.
    thanks and great video

      +ibaisaic hello, I live in a flat without the steps and I can see on the video the standard length is more than enough but thank you for the advice anyway. I bought the DC40 today at a very good price with an extra discount straight from Dyson (£209) with free delivery tomorrow and I have also been given a tool box for free, usually worth £44, so overall I'm very happy about my purchase. Once again a big thank you for the review. I was originally going for the DC28 but thanks to your review I found the machine I wanted! I told the man on the phone today, while I was placing the order, about your great reviews. Hope they appreciate your initiative. Kind regards

    As my Sebo Felix is on it's way out after 5 years of repairs and service to me (two kids two dogs a very fluffy cat an ex husband who is a plasterer and a current dusty electrican of a boyfriend) and I really treated it badly and it did well, I am considering replacing it with one of these.... Would you say I should or shall I just buy a new Sebo Felix?

    Try a dyson with plaster dust.
    Fun true story...
    A few years back my brother was doing some work on James' house installing full house air con. He had his trusty henry with him. Mr Dyson insisted my brother try one of his hoovers... My brother tried to kindly decline stating henry is indistrial designed for plaster / brick dust etc. As aforementioned James insisted. My brother blew up 2 of Dysons different models that mr Dyson had kindly supplied and left James Dyson a little red in the face.
    Don't get me wrong dyson is a brilliant hoover but it certainly doesn't cover all bases.
    For the record, I don't clean plaster and brick dust and I'm very happy with my dc40

    aarrgh I can't make my mind up. I have 5 children soon to be 6 and I've always used a dyson I currently have a dc27 animal. I don't have pets but due to kids and dust allergy I use the pet hoovers. I loved the new Shark and I like the dyson ball ball which one is best? went to curry to have a look at the shark as it was on offer but a guy their soon gave us the cons about it then went on to rave about the dyson which I agree are very good but I didn't realise till on the way out I overheard he was a dyson rep so says it all that he would recommend the dyson over the shark. I don't know what to do. x

    In the market for a new vacuum and Its a toss up between the Dyson dc40 and the Miele c3 complete Cat&Dog. Even though one is bag and one is bag-less which of the two do you honestly recommend more. Iv a dog that sheds quiet a bit.

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  9 років тому

      iShootBandits I have not used the Miele so can't say if it would be better than the Dyson, but you have to factor in the cost of replacement bags with the Miele. If you have mainly wall to wall carpets, then the Dyson would probably be the better choice, but if you have more hard floors then I would pick the Miele. I would look at the Sebo uprights too. The X4 Pet or Felix Pet are both well made, reliable cleaners that pick up pet hair easily. The brushroll on the Sebo cleaners is better than the Dyson and can be removed easily should you need to clean tangled hair from it.

    Good review, though you should be able to test your felix in the corners and find it sucks up most of it, if not all. This is due to the intentional air openings on the side, and I find it works well on either side. My biggest gripe though with Dyson is really, their Cinetic vacuum, which now they gleefully boost how this vacuum doesn't lose suction. Oh wait, didn't you say that for the past 20 years? Oh, you were lying then right? Already knew that anyhow since the UK advertising people forced them to remove that tagline since it had filters to wash to maintain suction.
    Dyson is the apple of vacuums, and that isn't a compliment by any means.

    Super amazing video! I watched the whole thing! You should check out my new dyson cinetic science big ball animal upright videos on my channel. Sadly ours doesn't have the adjustment in the power nozzle like yours would. I would LOVE for you to get one of these in the UK and test it. No pressure motor filter. Just the cyclones. Also can you do me a favor. After you empty it in the trash can or wherever. Can you do a video and show what the bottom center airflow channel looks like please? You will see in one of my videos my concern. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment. Keep up the great videos! Nobody does it like you!

      Hello,
      I have watched several of your videos including the latest Dyson ones and was impressed by the performance of the DC59 and Cinetic.
      If I have time I will make a short video showing the bin emptying, but I suspect mine will do what yours did. I tend to use another bagged vacuum to clean the bin out anyway so it's not something I'm very concerned about, but I can see how in time that the dust would affect the performance of the exhaust filter.
      Glad you managed to sit through the whole video, it was a bit long😄

    • @kode1996
      @kode1996 9 років тому

      ibaisaic haha. It was such a great informative video I couldn't stop watching lol. 😁 the dyson v6 fluffy would probably be the one you'd like the most. It has a post motor hepa filter. Also I haven't seen you review any water filtration cleaners. The sirena is a pretty cool vacuum. I'm sure it's available in the uk. I just keep thinking about all the dust in your air that you're breathing lol. Like when you emptied the bin inside. I flipped. Lol. You will e very impressed with the filtration of a water vacuum. Sirena has high and low speed settings so you can always keep it running and cleaning the air on low-speed, or if you want a quick air wash keep it on high. Thankyou for your amazing videos!

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic  9 років тому

      Water filter vacuums are very thin on the ground in the Uk and very, very expensive, so I doubt I will be trying one any time soon. I have never been bothered by dust allergies which is why I am happy to empty the mess on my carpets inside.
      I have made a few videos recently where there was dust and dirt everywhere, but after filming I cleaned thoroughly and dusted all the surfaces with a vacuum cleaner so all the evidence of my filthy demo was removed.

      @iZian 9 років тому

      kode1996 I've seen you're videos and find both channels useful. It's inspired me to perhaps do my own video about the V6 Absolute. The UK version has a more powerful brush bar than the USA version so I'd like to see how well that works and upload. UK has a V6 "Total Clean" which is equivalent to the Absolute of the USA; and the Absolute in the UK has a more powerful motorised head but comes with a hard floor tool that also features a max setting like ibaisaic demonstrates here.
      For that reason; (here's the significant bit here) I think that max setting is for hard floors. I believe it is supposed to create a better seal on hard floors for better suction between floorboards; something even the Fluffy head on the V6 has some difficulty with; but the Max setting makes it poorer for picking up even medium surface debris

    • @iZian
      @iZian 9 років тому

      Mark Pritchard I have the V6 now and I'll post a video at some point.
      In short it's awesome. Picking up what the mains powered Dyson leaves behind.

    I picked up the office cleaner to clean up the feathers of a bird that had dropped down the chimney and found that the cleaner was blocked and full . I tried to empty it and found the filters choked . I had to put the compressed air line down for ages to unclock the filters ...got covered in dust and when I put the contraption back together it was just the same , poor suction mighty heavy to handle , awkward with that ball arrangement and flimsy to say the least . I put it away and resorted to the old WW2 hoover , y'know the one with the bag that never goes wrong . I emptied the back and got the office carpet clean again in no time . I wouldnt say the old Hoover is better just in a different league for efficiency and cleaning . Anybody including me can empty the bag zip it back up and finish the job . The Dyson has been consigned to the rubbish skip . What a useless contraption it is .

    Dysons are terrible overcomplicated over engineered unnecessary expensive garbage shark hoovers put them to shame. My dyson can't even hoover medium pile carpet It gets stuck like it's in sinking mud. I absolutely despise dyson the rollerballs have a mind of thier own it's like wearing wellie boots in sinking mud. He's said it all really he sold on all his other dyson hoovers before he registered them that tells the real story of dyson as does every auction house in the county they sell for 5 quid each second hand in a general auction house in Wales and not much more in England. Dyson has hoodwinked a nation with science and people's stupidity then when he got really rich he layed off all his u.k workers for foreign labour. Pretty disgusting for a guy who was made rich by this country. He called it streamlining his business I call it blatant greed.
