Saree's are so feminine and stately. I wish more Indian women wore them in America. I'm a black woman and I plan to get at least 1 in my life. What elegance and style!
I love love love your accent and now I know how to wear my saree properly!
Absolutely gorgeous! I am envious of those who wear the Sari as they are so feminine but also covering most of the body. Thank you. 1926lady
I think this video is very useful it teach me to wear my saree
It's a very smooth and easy look but waaaay more involved than appearances
I am grateful for my family and husband supporting me through all of my medical issues!
My cousin who is very fond of india gave me 2 sarees and I was confused on what to do with it until now. Thank you. I will definitely be wearing this on my birthday :)
Wonderful video! Thank you.
It looks so easy when I watch u do it, I wish I can come over and u help me, good job and its a beautiful saree
Wow wanderful collection
skipping the second step is easier because once you have the saree's pallu (the more decorated side) over your shoulder, the rest of the fabric of the saree can be easier to adjust. i really hope that helped and made sense. it made more sense in my head xD
that was nice no belly showing that how everyone should wear
very good n simple explantion.Easy to follow.
Sakhi Fashions, bahot bahot shukria for one of the best YT guides to wearing a sari! Your video is among the few ones that also show how and where to pin the sari to get that really neat, final look. I think it's pretty vital for a beginner as you need to handle the sari all day long. I mean, it's one thing wearing it but few can carry a sari properly. And by pinning it, you can feel more confident that it'll still look good after sitting down, dancing or just moving around. Thanks a zillion times! I'd also like to request more sari videos with thinner sari materials like chiffon and georgette. How would you pin such sheer fabrics? Also, please could yoy show dupatta setting techniques?
Thank you. This has been the best
Lovely video
Step 2 is always skipped until you have completed step 3 because you will be unable to accurately pleat in the front unless the shoulder has been draped.
Great video and easy to follow! I always have issues with wearing sarees/saris as I am tall and have to put an extension on it (as you can see from my video).
Hello
BH
The Salwar Suit (the pant suit you referred to) is very common in India. Both are worn regularly, though in the modern setting of some Indian states sari's are for more formal occasions. I personally find Salwar Suits to allow much more ease of movement.
I've watched a few tutorials and they all seem to set the pallu over the left shoulder. Is it preferred to be left or does it matter? Maybe it's a right hand is more commonly dominant and therefore needs to be more free? Please explain.
its really nice video. its a easy way to wear a saree :-)
Thank you for sharing this teaching.
And when does one stop pleating? How many should you make or how much cloth should you leave not pleated? thanks!
these indian dresses are very beautiful...... but this looks like it would take a lot of practicing to completely grasp the whole concept of doing it correctly......
how beautiful.
Very lovely
The sari is gorgeous, where can I get it?
I love that Caribbean Blue at 0:26! It looks quite complicated, though. Do you usually need help getting one on?

That is BEAUTIFUL!
I Love Indian Clothes us English girls needs more of these beautiful sari
very nice
Can you please explain how the second pin needs to be placed?
I m puzzled
Thank this it's very helpful.
Do you always need 2 people to put on a saree?
Ur Kanchi Saree look awesome
Superb
the 2nd step is folding the fabric after you adjust the pallu's lenght in the shoulder. Perhaps, you can't adjust it's lenght if you first do the 2nd step, so they do in disorder.
i can not imagine how hard it would be to iron all that
great
its really easy but she make it sound like complicated n technical or somethin
Very Cute!!!!
Does it have to reach the floor, or should I tuck it in one-two inches from reaching the floor? thanks
Olga, it has to reach the floor. Otherwise your petticoat (underskirt) will show and that's not very lady like if you lnow what I mean. The undergarment is supposed to be hidden.
Thanks!

great work.upload more
+Dushan Ishanka Thanks for watching our video. Please subscribe SakhiFashions channel to get more updates.
SakhiFashions sure.
Supper but helpful:)
The 2nd step is common sense. 1st step: wrap around twice."We skip the 2nd step we'll go back to pleating later"
she doesn't skip it, she just comes back to it later
this looks hard and i have to wear a saree for tomorrow after school for a presentation of the world im doing India....im 10 yrs

Seems very simple, but doing is difficult.
tsai sandylulala yea so ture
true but...practice makes perfect
Brilliant
bunu giymek yetenek işi 😊😊
seems very simple it is very hard in doing
+Sughandhaa kaushik its really simple just keep practicing and you will become and expert
If you drape your shoulder first and allow the pallu to hang at the level you desire, then you will be able to tell how much needs pleated in the front because of the fabric that remains loose around your midsection. Some women are heavier, while others are very slim, so it will very greatly. After you have draped your shoulder, draw the fabric hanging loose around you waist to the front and pleat it until it is snug, and then tuck it in.
Lovely :-)
Very good end think you fo r your brogres
Erm what's the thing she is wearing inside before the sari called?
Petticoat like a slip to tuck in first wraps of saree
very difficult :(
I think they're just switching the second and third steps. A couple of the videos I've seen say they are skipping the "second" step, but then they go back after the "third" step.
Fb louse is my design for sure.
I'm puzzled
Why does every tutorial I watch about this skip the 2nd step? Is it some kind of secret step? :D
How come it seems like no matter how many videos I watch I can't get it:/

this is a more complicated way of draping the sari...the same style can be draped more easily.
it is so difficult .
the petticoat
Actually no. It's pretty much like wearing a long dress. The only part that can cause trouble is the pallu, but if you pull it to the front before you toilet there's never an issue.
Hey, wedding sarees are the speciality of Narkis Fashion. If you aren't in Paris their website is narkisfashion.fr or you can find them in Epinay (in France).
See you ;)

+Cristina West hi there saree is just fabric so it fits anyone really you can drape it to fit your perfectly that the best part
It seems easy when you watch the video but when i follow the steps of draping it doesn't seem so.Help.
+Nirmala Pillai we request you to keep practicing if you ever visit Bangalore or Hyderabad you can visit our boutiques and we would be happy to show you as many times you wish
We can even connect to you on Skype and show you how to drape better based on your technique
yes. Unfortunately , this is true
I'm guessing these videos are for cultural newcomers such as myself? Therefore, my question is: is it offensive for non-desi people to wear the sari? Thank you :)
+Arianna Chiriff It is not considered offensive AT ALL. In fact, Indians like it when foreigners take the effort to wear a sari. Also, this video is not just for 'cultural newcomers', as you put it. I'd say it is mostly for the younger generation of Indians who have no idea how to wear the sari and are studying/working away from home (i.e. didn't quite get the hang of draping a sari while staying with their mommies). At least, that's why I'm here. I can drape a georgette/chiffon/'flowy' sari with ease, but I still haven't figured out how to drape a silk/cotton sari perfectly. Most Indian women of my age grew up wearing jeans/skirts/salwar kameez. The saris were worn only for school events, family weddings, etc and you always had your mom or aunties or friends to help out. My mother's generation was different. My mother wore a sari to work every day. These days, it's either Western formal wear or kurtas at work.
+Ri Ki I'd be really surprised if these were Indians - the ones who had issues with cultural appropriation by Westerners. A word of warning - Indians are usually appreciative only when the sari is draped modestly :) The only other reason Indians hate it when Westerners do their own take on Indian culture is when they use religious symbols where they're not supposed to. I remember there was a huge furore many years ago when a Western fashion house used images of Indian gods and goddesses on bikinis or some such thing.
+Ri Ki Also, this video isn't helpful at all. They skipped the important parts. I just ran into this channel called Vithya Hair and Make Up. Check out '10 Minute Saree Draping with Vithya' AND 'Pleating a Saree with Vithya'. She really explains everything in detail.
Well obviously...? They can't hear.
ok
It is beautiful, but if you quickly have to wee! It can turn into a disaster!
its like math o_o
agar drape se D utar de to?????'''''''
Wonderful ... But tell me, please, the Indian sari is wear only with bare feet ?
Thank you ! _ / | \ _
It depends on where you are wearing it.
As a general rule most of all Hindu religious events and poojas require to remove shoes, specially if done indoors (temples). Other events as corporate events, etc, do not require to do so.
should a saree worn below or above navel . if below, then how much?

I stomach like your saree styeles

Don't be ignorant. India has a completely different culture than America. In India revealing the shoulders and ankles is considered sensual. The skin of the abdomen and arms is not.
