Those bottles release WAY too much of those powders! They leak too, sometimes all I need is to unscrew the cap, and I get enough just from the residue. A tip I've seen is to sprinkle the powder on a scrap piece of paper, and from that, sprinkle it onto your working paper. That controls it a bit better. Same as you, I abandoned the small paper we were given, and used a bigger paper. In the tutorial, they would put the white watercolor on the paper first, then the powder over it. It still gave it a rather opaque gouache look. I suppose it's good, because it does give you yet another way to use these paints, but yeah... Your painting is so vibrant! I think that Bougainvillea really gave you some bright purples. The effect in the glasses is really cool!
I agree, sketchbox bottles release too much powder, the other one has smaller nozzle. One more trick- you can use dry fluffy brush to pick up powder and shake it off the brush. I’d have to try that white on paper first trick. :) thank you for watching and comment
