I find bao-dur a lot better as a jedi. He won’t get as many skill points (but still more than enough) and he won’t be able to use many force powers but instead you can turn him into a melee monster as his hp sky rockets once he is a jedi guardian.
You can get both Atton and Bao Dur up to Jedi status on Nar Shadaa alone if you run that planet first. That saves you a fair amount of heart ache, but it does still leave them as woefully underpowered all the way through Telos. Thankfully, Telos is short.
I usually hit Nar Shaddaa first for that reason. Get Atton and Bao Dur converted, get my 2 lightsaber parts and then bounce to another planet and come back towards the end of the game.
@@CatDaddyGaming I just run Nar Shadaa all the way through to get Mira, who also requires Jedi conversion. If you hit the Ebon Hawk up before you get abducted by Visquis, you get Visas as well. That gives you a full complement of teammates. Nar Shadaa also has enough experience to get you to 17, which puts you in prestige range, and that's only one level away from getting the Handmaiden to become a Jedi.
I always convert them into Jedi! I always prefer melee combat anyway, so I tend not to use blaster class characters. It is also canon to train your companions in your force, at the end on Malachor Kreia mentions that the real lost Jedi were “the friends you made along the way” and that your force sensitive companions will be able to rebuild the order!
I have also noticed it is canon for you to train them all. Read some wiki articles about them rebuilding the Jedi order. Very interesting stuff to read if you enjoy the story of that era.
I think atton is much better if he is converted relatively late at lvl 17 as he doesnt have enough wis to consistently land force powers on his enemies
Once again, a comment for channel stats. Your videos themselves are great, btw, but I'm kinda nerdy when it comes to game stats and maximizing the perks and all, so I don't believe I really NEED this info, but it's certainly interesting to cross reference my point of view with yours on the topic. :) P.S. Honestly, it's hard to screw up your build in this game, lol, but I usually level them up before converting. Atton's sneak attack can annihilate with force speed and Thon's Robe (grant's force jump, which is always considered a sneak attack), and Bao-Dur is, well... Bao-Dur. I usually just put some force and energy resistant armour and he becomes unparalleled when dueling with force wielders, while also retaining his buffed skills from earlier for all the crafting needs. P.P.S. May the 4th be with you, all of you, my friends.
As always thank you very much! I certainly agree with you on that. I have seen some playthroughs on UA-cam of people purposefully giving themselves the worst builds and still getting through the game. I rather enjoy the fact the made the game playable even if you have a shit build. It just gets so much more interesting when you build them a certain way and can see your planning and thinking paying off.
It's difficult to gain influence on Bao-Dur when you're going dark side. Of course you can just loose influence and make him a jedi that way. You can also do it on purpose and make him a designated healer: You're going dark, he's going light and gets cheaper healings. Atton has a solo part on Nar Shadda against the two bounty hunters. This fight is my main reason to make Atton a jedi. But you never need Bao-Dur in your party after Telos. For Bao-Dur, your own class is also important: If your main PC does not get many skill points, you might prefer keeping him as a tech-expert. You can use your companions for all the skills, but this requires some planing and is easily messed up. Also, during the Dxun Freedon-Nadd grave part, you probably want as many jedi in your group as possible. You always have Visas, but Kreia goes to Onderon with your main Charakter. Remaining possible jedi: -Atton -Mira/Hanharr -Brienna / Diciple -Bao-Dur So even if you went dark side and got Hanharr, you still have Visas, Atton, Brianna/Diciple. You don't need Bao-Dur as a Jedi. But you never need Bao-Dur in your party after Telos. Btw. the party leader during the Freedon Nadd part, has to be a Jedi. Maybe because of the two dark side spots you'll find in the grave.
I discovered a fun glitch from an old video on another channel that lets other characters piggy back off of your converted Jedi companions when they're level 0. I converted mandalore with it. Kind of same problem as Bao dur since he can't remove his armor but it's fun to see anyway lol. You can also do it with hk47 but no point because droids don't get force points and still can't equip lightsabers or any melee weapon even with the glitch
I have seen that before back on the old school Xbox version. Fun to do with Han Harr. Yeah pretty weird about HK too cuz he has such crazy Strength it seems like they wanted him to have melee weapons.
Can you make a video about different Mandalore builds? Melee vs ranged, where to put his attribute points, and how best to use his extra implant. You could also cover the best equipment for him similar to how you did HK. Thanks for making all these videos. I’ve beaten this game multiple times on vanilla and restored content, but I still learn stuff from your KotOR playlist.
Thank you very much! I am glad the videos are being useful and helpful. I myself still learn things about this game that I had no idea of. Truly is a masterpiece of a game. They don't make them like they used to lol I will certainly add it to my list and look into making a video like that. I think that would be a very good one to do. About time to move onto the non Jedi characters too. Mandalore is a really near character when you look into his story!
@@CatDaddyGaming They will not be much difference with the droids, but we can heal them with The Force if play as LS. The game could be more challenging because they can't deflect blaster bolts and suck against Jedi. They can melee with Jedi but need a specific build for that.
Yes, please do Mira too! 🥺 Oh, off-topic, did you know that there's a way to choose which are the best companion to go to Freedon Nadd's tomb, based on Kreia's response?
I will certainly look into it! Thinking about doing her and Disciple together since they are both companions you COULD get and not for sure will get. I don't think I know what you are referring to. I am sure Kreia makes some good suggestions but that doesn't take into account how I have built the other companions skill and damage wise.
Oh was referring to Kreia's response in The Mandalorian Outpost of Dxun. You know, each time you mention every companion's name to go to Freedon Nadd's tomb. Kreia said, 1) "Very well," to Visas, 2) "Ah... Good choice," to Bao-Dur, and 3) "Excellent," to Mandalore. I was curious and just went ahead with them. I always choose the Mira-Atton-XXX combination before, despite her disagreement. It turns out Bao-Dur has some code to neutralize the sensor (behind the land mines), Visas could gather more dark side/light side power in the tomb, and Mandalore, well, he helps blast away all hostiles.
Thank you very very much! I really appreciate the kind words! I started a new job so I have been pressed for time lately but I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I appreciate the support very much! It is all thanks to you guys in the end! :)
I like doing a half/half build for Atton. Not really min-maxed but a satisfying build because it allows him to somewhat benefit from his sneak attack while also having access to a few select jedi skills (i use stasis). I buff his wisdom with items, and pump dex and he's fairly self sufficient, the lack of a fully maxed sneak attack can be mitigated by having his lightsaber(s) uber upgraded to compensate.
I think i must have 8 completed playthroughs of this game on multiple systems if not more. And to this day I still find it challenging to turn all my companions into Jedi
Once you get the influence spots locked in you can breeze through it. Handmaiden always takes the longest cuz you need to be level 18. For me the hardest part is tip toeing around choices to not loose any influence
Oh really?? I haven't heard of that one. I have seen the one that adds Robes specifically for Bao Dur but not that one so I will have to look that one up and check it out.

I don't even think I have ever done a sneak attack, does Atton have to have a stealth field generator? I also have never been able to covert Bao Dur to a jedi, do you just got to have him in the party a lot?
For sneak attack you have to the sneak attack ability. Scoundrels and Jedi Sentinels get that attack. It only works when the enemy can't defend itself. So either for the first attack when the enemy doesn't notice you, or if you can stun the enemy like with Force Wave. Stealth Field Generator helps but isn't required. As for Bao Dur, you have to keep gaining influence with him and you will unlock dialogue with him and be able to convert him. Happens when you are on the Ebon Hawk. 3 or 4 influence gains should do the trick if you don't have any influence losses with him.
I’m a little disappointed that Bao-Dur has so many restrictions. I don’t get why the designer don’t allow him to wear Jedi robes or certain types of armor. It’s beyond me.
Probably because of model issues of his arm. And it could overwrite the actual Jedi robes. They would have to specifically make special robes/ armor for him such as the Charged armor for Bao Dur mod.
