I love how the animators added an animation of George doing something as silly as electrocuting himself on train mechanisms. Knowing gamers would make him do such a thing.
I thought the Director's Cut was hugely disappointing. The conversation portraits felt really out of place and unnecessary, most the memorable lines and moments were either badly rewritten or taken out, the design of the new animated scenes felt cheap compared to the original game's scenes, and the Nico sections had really terribly cheap minigame puzzles that felt ripped right out of crappy free to play puzzle games.
@@plox378 This is the original. There is a so-called director's cut that changes and adds some things. I'd say they both complement each other and should be viewed/played together to get a full picture and experience.
@@plox378 You can get a choice of original and depending on game, Broken Sword 1 is Director`s Cut and Broken Sword 2 is Remastered. I think they did better job with second game interms of this, but i dont like that they took out consequences for failing in Director`s Cut one. Basically you can play original or the modernized one "I prefer GOG due to DRM free gaming". But its good games, but i prefer Original ones mainly of 1 and 2
I remember choosing the "pizza option" the first time I played this at 08:30 . Only trouble was, I was laughing at the "Or I'll kick your head in!" so much that I didn't click in time and got killed :D
I remember playing Monkey Island and being used to point n clicks where death wasn't a threat. But that Hotel Ubu in this set the tone. It was the first possible death in this game and it made sure you thought it through. (Especially if you didnt save.)
@@northernstar5941 I remember the GBA version of this death being scary. It had no voice acting but when he mentions the guns the music suddenly does a horror stinger
What? You could die in Broken Sword? I played through the Director's Cut and realized it was impossible to progress if one didn't do the right action So while it seems that exiting the hotel with the manuscript was possible in the original game one is warned not to do it in the Director's Cut and hence is stuck unless one can come up with the correct cause of action. I like the death scene in which he does a citizen's arrest while trying to convince them he is not intimidated by all their guns
McLarenMercedes I hated that they removed the death scenes from DC. I know they are trying to be kid friendly, but their games lose quality because of it. Original all the way.
Thanks for sharing this, I played through first on Director Cut, and they removed all death scenes (for some reason o_O) and went through second one (original) with Gamefaqs all the way so I never got chance to experience them, lol.
I've noticed on any of the new versions, Georges says at the hotal "I must find another way to smuggle the manuscript so it doesn't fall into the hands of those goons outside" why the change revolution!!! lol
WHOA! @06:39 I didn't know that the spider could kill you! I once tried to wait but nothing happened. Do you have to do something special or just wait REALLY long?
George Stobbartt makes that funny face when he's shot. I never knew you can die from the Spider in the second Broken sword game, is it if you wait too long? The guard who shoots Nico is either a murder fetish, homosexual or is plain disciplined.

The scene at 1:22 was honestly one of the funniest things that ever happened to me in a game.
Citizen's arrest! Lol

The music always gave me the creeps when I played this as a kid, it still does now!
The George Stobbart I played met with the jolly grave digger many times!!
Same here. And back then when you didn't save the game we might as well join Georgie.
The one where that stone lions head falls on you was a bastard. Because the chain of events leading up to it was so long-winded.
never seen that guy till now and am a huge fan

Leaving the Hotel without dropping the map piece was my first mistake. I'd played Monkey Island before this so I didnt see any risk lol
3:39 Back at Nicos appartment, next thing we see is the well. I know Nico didn't have a great appartment but thats just insulting
Am i the only one who cracks up at all the death scenes?
They're hillarious...especially the citizen's arrest one! George's smug conviction and then it cuts straight to his burial. 😂

I made the mistake of going out of the Hotel with the manuscript and the one where going down the stairs with the Neo Templars at their meeting.
Thanks for answering me!
i used to have this game for the gameboy advanced one of my favorites.
I cant believe there were only three death scenes in smoking mirror! Im sure there were more

Guido has always been spooky to me.
Sad Video :(
I've played this game a few times and I didn't even know you caould die in it.
Why was all this cut from the new version?
Probably because everyone already seen it and they wanted to spend time on new content instead.

Broken Sword 5 heavily rumoured :D

6:43 xDDDDDDD
Wow i had no idea that the spider could kill you. Guess i didnt wait long enough
The second game seems shorter than the first
It seemed to have alot more content as far as dialogue was concerned. I remember thinking it was awesome to go to ireland and syria etc.
If I find good way to record this ,then yes.
you really can´t die in that version? thats so silly, because of that I used to be very careful while playing xD

It's because Khan was a professional assassin and didn't want an amateur like George getting in his way I guess.
