- Every way to die in King's Quest 1 Remake.
Now, I didn't include scenes of drowning in every river or every body of water, they are essencially the same. And the three ways to die with the witch are grouped together: they each end the same way so I only showed that once.

I love how when you fall in the moat the guards just stand there and don't do anything.

This game was so much pun.
Most of these are pretty gruesome, but then they add a terrible pun to either make you feel better or add insult to injury.
That's what they call 'rubbing salt into the wounds' lol..
The giant one should read "SQUISH! The giant has just made you taste the bitter agony of da-feet." XD
Another creepy thing is the mostly upbeat death music.
You can't have a Sierra Online game without macabre puns.

This is my favorite rendition of KQ1. The AGD remake is very good, but making it a strict click-and-point game to make it in line with the classic Sierra games strips away some of the humor for the water-related deaths in this VGA remake. My favorite is when Graham falls into the well or strong water. If you type DRINK while's he's frantically splashing and crying out for help, the game responds with "No matter how quickly you drink this water, there's still enough for you to drown in" or "Unfortunately, drowning in the river is taking up all of your attention." However, if you type DRINK WATER, the response is, "The steep embankment prevents you from getting a drink." If you do that in the well, it says, "You're too busy drowning right now."
Also, I think there is some charm in text parser, typing your actions instead of a generic list of general actions... I know that there are some problems with it and I don't think point and click is bad, I just don't like much the trend of remakes to replace the text parser like it is out dated mechanic that need to be replace.
These games represent my childhood...I loved playing these growing up as a kid. My buddy introduced me to them back in 95 and I was instantly hooked! But at the same time, I also recall just how disappointed I was with the King Quest 3D game (8 technically?) not only was it hard as hell, it also was NOT fun, story sucked and it was confusing.
That was when 3D graphics were coming out and the novelty was more about the graphics than anything else. The game made me so fucking mad because it was so difficult, and not intentionally either...just trying to fight was hard enough.
Ahh classic point and clicks like Monkey Island, Laura Bow (CB and DOAR), Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken and these games...just pure amazingness.

I wish somebody remake these games in high def for xbox live or something. Obviously it wont be sierra or lucus arts now they are both pretty much deceased.

When they 'remade' this game..they should've included an easter egg in which falling off causes the ONLY voice over in the game....

Wow I missed the remake. What year was this out? The sound effects in this one sound similar to Midway Game sound effects, or those from Sega Master System and Sega Genesis games.
This was out in 2001.

Getting to the rat is only possible when you got the Treasure Chest and the Mirror. Afterwards go to a scene with an open cave and a giant bird will fly past. Get hold of the bird (type jump at the right moment) and it'll take you across the river to a hole in the ground. The rat is somewhere in the tunnels.

Perhaps it's because I've played Peasant's Quest a lot, but when you typed "eat jh" I thought it might end in "eat jhonka".
You missed one, sort of. Go one screen above rumpelstiltskins house and fall in the water to the left of the bridge. It freezes the game so I guess it's a glitch but it's still a unique death.
Yes. It's the offical remake done by Sierra, not the new one by AGDInteractive.

To go underwater you need to get into the well and type "Dive."
I like that "Keep your head out of the clouds and keep your feet on the ground"
