Green Bay in last place…gotta love that. Let’s all hope for more of that now that Rodgers is gone.

I was 11 years old when this game happened. My mom and I had gone to visit one of her sisters that weekend, and on Sunday, I wanted to watch the game. But my mom and aunt had other plans, and they didn't want to leave me alone at my aunt's house, so I had to go with them. We spent the entire afternoon going to various cemeteries where family members I had no idea about were buried, and I was absolutely bored out of my mind. When we finally got back after what felt like 15 hours, and I learned the Vikings had beaten the mighty Bears, I was very upset that I didn't get to see it. To this day, I have not let my mother forget about that one.
Now for the first time, I have actually gotten to see highlights of that game. So thanks for posting this to help ease a childhood annoyance.

The Bears D lost a lot when Buddy left...They didn't even run 46 almost at all. Ditka and Vince Tobin took over...They went to a 4-3 with blitzes and it wasn't the same. 1:13 for example. Buddy's 46 was super complicated for that time...to the O-Line trying to block and the QB who was usually under center.

"and it wasn't the same". Actually it was pretty much exactly the same, the '86 Bears gave up 11 fewer points and only 5 more yards than the '85 Bears. Buddy was so overrated, the Bears D was great due to talent, as was Buddy's Eagles.

Kramer was my favorite Viking QB next to Tarkington

And in typical Vikings fashion they lost four of their next five after this game and missed the playoffs.

Probably one of the Viking's most underachieving teams.

That season they just missed the playoffs and there were 3 or 4 games they lost which were each lost on one key play. The most memorable one was against the Giants when Phil Simms completed a 4th and 17 pass at the end of the game that put them into scoring position. But that season was fun to watch. The next year in 1987, they barely made the playoffs as a wild card and beat the Saints and 49ers respectively in their own stadiums and lost NFC championship to the Redskins in DC, a game they certainly could have won.

Beat the 49ers and Bears back to back. We had the Redskins, Giants and Browns all 99% beat and still found a way to give the games away. The '86 Vikings could hang with any team in the league, ashame they kept choking. I don't understand how the schedule making worked back then, the defending champion Bears had the easiest schedule in the league and the Vikings had the toughest.

One of my all time favorite Viking games. Kramer spiking the ball by Singletary after the face mask was icing on the cake. You can't argue the Bears defense is among the best but if anyone say THE best I would show them this game. The 46 defense was blitzes. Most NFL QBs were drop back passers. Get a QB who could scramble like Cunningham or Elway or a quick release like Marino, heave a couple lucky passes like Steve Dills did as a Ram or just beat the cadence of the blitz like this game and they were human and very beatable.

Never thought of Singletary as a cheap shot guy back then,, but that looked dirty
