Don't use a power tool to seat your new head. That's £10+ down the drain
I’ve used a drill with a drum-key attachment for the last 10 years of being a touring drummer. Almost every drill has a screwdriver setting, which has a clutch built in as to not over-tighten the screw. This is particularly handy when using them to put lugs on, not only does it save time, it never ever over tightens, and gives you a rough starting point to then use a key to bring it to the note you need.
I would recommend it to any drummer, as it with it, you can re skin an entire kit in minutes. If you don’t change your skins very often, then there’s no need but if you do, I would have it as an essential piece of kit
That 10 down the drain if you havent used a drill in your life, its not even that difficult to use cmon
@@Tomidschits like these guys just used it wrong and they think everyone would do de same mistake 😂
Electric torque wrench
The snare-side head shouldn’t be as loose as it is in the video, but a nice, slightly lower-tuned bottom head gets some nice fat resonance if it’s balanced with the batter head.
Or crank that baby and have some heavy articulation! So many different ways to make snares sound beautiful
@@kahok5ownagei dont believe its many way to get snare sound good. Maybe 2 or 3 thats all😂
lower tuned bottom skin? are you crazy? everybody knows you always (or at least in an absolute majority of cases) tune the reso head higher than the batter head. thatßs true for all, bassdrum, toms and snare. this is also why this video sucks. number 1 thing to do when your snare sounds crap is tighten the reso head. 90% of cases it will make it sound better
I personally got the best soundsout of heads that were on the drum for a longer time and the coating partially gone in the mid, but I play on high tunings maybe it only applies there, can't get those cracking sounds out of new heads
勉強になります!!!!
学校のドラムセットも古いので新しく変えたいと思うばかりです😂😂😂
Try some new heads on it. Should be easier to convince them to spend the money on that, instead of a whole new kit?
Great tips; however, I sometimes found it difficult to hear over the busy background music
Thanks
Thx
👍🏻
well said man
Dont tighten your heads like that, its not good for the health of the rim
Especially not with a power tool
@@josedorsaith5261 lmfao
@@josedorsaith5261 sometimes they can be helpful, theyre ok to use (drumkey adapter for power tool) but you need to be very very careful with how tight they get
aswell as the head itself it can stretch it out wierd and make it look bad
I mean you just have to learn yo use it correctly, its not that hard
The screw to adjust the tightness on my wires is not working? What could i so
De assemble it and re assemble, but make sure the screw its not at its full tightness Range
Having an adjustable butt-end really is a big deal for me nowadays, especially if I'm touring. Changing snare wires with one pair of hands only is a total pain in YOUR butt, and it's not that butt you want to work xD Also, the only permanent fix I've ever found for snares rattling everywhere - which everyone hates - is very large snare wires. For some reasons DWs ones are less pricey than other brands (weird I know?!), and excellent!
Snare wires get stretched unevenly so half of them rattle no mater what you do..I prefer cutting about half off so they pull straight and never use string to install it with...cutt an old head up.and use a strip of it instead.. string doesn't lay flat against the head..most modern drums have a Grove machined into the bottom barring edge for the "strainer " to lay flat...getting them to pull straight and lay flat is the key...
can we get one for toms my toms sound like shit
I want this drum
So what is the snare-side head for?
It’s called sympathetic resonance. The idea that the vibration from the batter head will activate the bottom head. The bottom head largely plays a part in overtones and wire response. :)
I have a drm drum
My snare is a kessler :(
I have a ‘66 Ludwig jazz festival (green sparkle) with a replacement EVANS G2 snare white coat. Kinda cheap for a sexy drum, any recommendation on what I should buy. I was thinking get a 60s era snare head 🤷🏽♂️
an evans G2 isnt a cheap/ppor head. but if you dont like the sound listen to think and pick your sound (6) Aquarian vs Evans vs Remo: 62 heads - ULTIMATE Snare Head Comparison - Timpano Percussion - UA-cam
My snare sounds like a timpani whenever i put it on the stand it doesnt even sound like the snares are rattling what do i do
Tighten ur snare wires, there should be a option to have ur snares on and off so tighten them to put em on
No video....all audio?! I am a subscriber.....this isnt normal
Weird glitch happening just swipe up then down it usually fixes it
Do not use a drill to tighten down the head.
Reason number four: you overcompensated for reason number one and cranked your super thin snare side head and stretched it out
😮😮😮😮😮
No star formation tuning 😬😬😬
At least let us hear what it sounds like
One reason why it’s hard to get the 3 reasons why your snare drum sounds bad, the annoying music that is overlayed on the video is too loud.
You lost me when you used a drill to tighten the nuts around the batter head. Use the damn drum key people. You need to feel what you're doing with drums.
It's a short video, not a tuning tutorial. Anyway, you lost us when said 'nuts' instead of tension rods 😂
@@drummersonlyuk don't drill your nuts B)
@@sirdrum-a-lotthat's my kink..
Why didn't you play it to show before and after results?
So... buy new heads, make sure they are tight, just like the wires. ? Groundbreaking suggestions there mate 🤦♂️
Stick to riding bikes mate, you clearly know more about that than tuning drums 😬
@@drummersonlyuk haha. yeah sure. What do you know.? Over 30years of playing and tuned many drums. Good luck buddy
@@drummersonlyuk also beenriding over 30 years so I'd say I'm pretty good at both thank you very much. I'd like to share this little clip with you. Drum on!

@@joeguinta1669 Wow. That makes the St Anger snare sound GOOD…
@@drummersonlyuk good one buddy. So you dropped your argument about my playing? How interesting you come back with some dim witted insult. You're clueless. Must have been you that tuned that St. Anger snare.
Bro tuned wrong
Another tip: don't use a trash can as a snare *cough cough*
What if we do not have a brand new head and our parents do not want to go to the drum stores
that worn top head is fine if tuned up right.
I just bought my first set of drums and I have no clue what any of this is. I can tell you all about how to spend $10,000 to not change your guitar sound at all, though!
A little muffler goes a long way.
I saw many drums with old batter head even have good sound than yours rob i'm sorry to said🙏🏻. The real reason is not old or new one but how we tune it.
yeah they sound great.
I liked the video untill i saw the power tool
cant believe u screw them in circular order :////////
As if i had money to get new heads 😂
no the real reason is because your using Remo
Facts
Dafuq...
Remo is great😊
