Whenever I really want to learn how to do something on my Glowforge, I always check to see if you did a tutorial first. Yours are the easiest to understand. Keep doing them.
I’m not sure when is the right time for back to school. But I’m just watching this and I’m hoping to get some done before I miss the back to school time. LOL Thanks for sharing.
I enjoyed this tutorial! It helped me learn some things on Silhouette! I followed your steps to the tee. The jig cut flawless! On the other hand, my glowforge is not firing for the pencils. I tried another project and the laser did fire. Do you have any insight as to why it might not fire on the pencils? Appreciate any help!
I have followed your tutorial as well as others for making the jig. Even though I am not moving my jig, once I open the door to put in the actual pencils or replace the items, my camera shifts from view and the placement is not where is should be. Any thoughts?
Your camera is resetting! You can use calipers beforehand to determine the height of the pencils and click the "uncertified material" option in the top left. In that window, type in the material height of the pencils :)
Hi Lisa! Love this video. Thank you so much for sharing your tips and tricks. Quick question, how do you turn on those aligning grids to make sure everything is centered etc.?
Do you wipe down the pencils afterwards? On the ones I have done, after handling the "ash" comes off onto my fingers. It seems to lighten and smear to engraving.
I got it in a pack a long time ago in a bundle, but here's a link to the font family here: fontbundles.net/adamfathony/136894-brayden-family?ref=pQXBhM

Good live thanks looks good ❤
Thanks, Jessie!

I'm going to start trying end of June/early July. Gives me time to process before back to school!
I have been making a lot of back to school pencils. They never go out of style. They are also great stocking stuffers at Christmas.
Great idea!! I love a good stocking stuffer.
Thank you for this video. I am just learning how to use my Glowforge Plus.
Glad it was helpful!
Interesting.
Very!
Thank you! This was super helpful. I can’t wait to try this in a few days.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks so much I just tried it and it worked!!!
YES! I'm so happy it worked!
Do you mind if I ask about the machine?? What model is this? How do you know what model you need ??
This is the Glowforge Pro. I chose it because it has the fastest speed, best cooling and the passthrough feature :)

Any chance your settings for the pencil engraving needs to be adjusted?
Will this cut in a paper cocktail straw?
Yes, just really test settings beforehand. It only needs a delicate touch.
what specific machine do you use? What machine is more affordable?
I use the Glowforge Pro. There are some machines that may be more affordable, but you may have different features or restrictions.
This is awesome. Have thought about using the XTool M1?
I have! I'm trying to see if I have the space/time to do that.

I use the align tools at the top of the screen. You can also turn on guides in the second tab of the page panel. 💕
Very new and love all your videos! Where do you get the pins to pin down cardboards?
I got them from the Glowforge community forum a while back! You should be able to search "hold down pins" or something similar.
Hi Lisa......I saw the hold down pins on the cardboard. How do you like them, and where did you get them from?
They're great! I just cut them from scrap wood I have. You should be able to find a link in the Glowforge Owners Forum!
Do you wipe down the pencils afterwards? On the ones I have done, after handling the "ash" comes off onto my fingers. It seems to lighten and smear to engraving.
yes! I wipe them with a baby wipe. I try to get the ash/soot out so it's not messy once I gets to the customer.
New subscriber and new Glowforge owner here. Do you need to do a new jig every time or can you reuse this one?
You can definitely reuse it, but the alignment is harder in my opinion. I think it's much easier to set up a new jig when doing a new batch.
Sorry if you’ve mentioned this already, but where do you get your calipers? Thank you :)
Mine were given to me, but I hear there are great ones on Amazon!
Where did you find the Brayden font?
I got it in a pack a long time ago in a bundle, but here's a link to the font family here: fontbundles.net/adamfathony/136894-brayden-family?ref=pQXBhM
How do you export as svg? Is that only allowed with premium silhouette studio?
Yes, you will need the business edition upgrade. This is just a one-time fee, no subscription.
