  • Hi All - I made this for my reference, but I thought some of you would might interested in the difference between original stock Rickenbacker Toaster pickups and the JBE (Barden) direct replacements. The video is quick and dirty and not [professional. Also the intonation is off on the guitar as I removed the bridge during the swap out. But again, this is just a rough reference for anyone looking to try the JBEs on their 300 series Ric.

    This is a proper demo, no blues wankery, no distortion, just pure, "here's how it sounds straight up." It makes it much more clear than so many crappy demos, thank you!

      Thank you for the kind word. I agree with you and am often frustrated when people demo a guitar with distortion so you can't area the true tone of the guitar. All the best!

      Exactly, I hate it when people play blues crap for reviews and comparisons. Lets hear the actual pickups cleanly and in nice clean strums and cord picking. Perfect, thank you.

    This how you do a demo! Quick A and B comparisons playing the same exact riff.

    Original Toasters by a mile!! JBEs make that beautiful, unique guitar sound like every other P-90 loaded guitar.
    Great demo!

      Agreed. You take away the jangle and the sparkle that make a Ric a Ric by switching them out. The Bardens sound like any other fat single coil.

    Excellent demo. The toasters have more bite, chime and sound more organic. I like the toasters better.

    Thanks for making this. It’s impossible to get these two side-by-side. Super helpful!!

    Thanks for the demo!Based on the previous video (Barden rep) I was thinking about purchasing a set of r300's.BUT>>>After listening to the comparison, I like the originals much more. Better clarity and jangle.(That's what I'm after).

    The originals sound like a Rickenbacker, the JBEs do not

      Yes, you are right! While I love Rics, I needed a more versatile guitar so they suit my applications well... thanks for listening!!

    Awesome demo. It's subjective..both sound great, but you definitely make it more versatile with the switch.

    The Toasters have more bite. The JBE's sound fuller but a bit darker.
    Why even get a Rick (premium prices) if you are not going for the "bite" (signature sound)?

      Because you don't like the hum from the stock Rick pickups.

    Were the pots changed out for the Bardens? If not, of course they would sound darker.

    Hi gr8 vid mate Nice Beatle tones there with the toasters. .May I ask what you think of the toaster pu in a Rick bass as opposed to the hi gains?

    • @theguitarczar1
      @theguitarczar1 3 роки тому

      Thanks much... when it comes to bass, I love the toaster in the neck... warm, round and articulate.... vintage tone for sure

    • @staypress
      @staypress 3 роки тому

      @@theguitarczar1 thanks mate ,so when u say warm and round are you referring to a more bottom end or when u say vintage do u mean more top end ,although the bridge pick up would be supplying more of that top end tone
