⁉️What should I name my coffee shop in Japan? ☕️ Also, sign your name on your comments so I can get to know each of you!
Coffees with Christian 👀
@@saraboonyEasy and straight to the point! Love it Sara haha
What about ‘Coffee, Chats ‘n’ Chills’?
@@hangswithchristian If you go with that, just don't try to make it cool and edgy by spelling everything with a K instead of a C, that could be a poroblem 😂
Haha I see you have been studying Japanese! I want to keep the C alive in Japan though I reckon, just to confuse the situation 🤣
Wait what you got a coffee shop there? Send me the address I will be back there my dad lives in Osaka. I have a travel bug happening lol.
I plan on studying in Japan next year and your videos are so motivating! Love your positive energy, keep it up!
That’s so incredibly kind of you to say - Thank you!
Wishing you all the best of your journey to Japan, it’s truely worth it 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵✌🏽
Good to see some familiar faces in this video champion! I think you answered the questions well and I’d totally hit up your coffee shop for a $7 Aussie coffee!
Haha stick to the $1.50 7-11 coffee!
Those $7 coffee are not worth it. But I hope to open my own coffee shop here one day, so please come and visit. Though I promise my coffee will be better! 🙋🏽♂️
Cheers Tristan!
I don’t know if the coffee shop is a good idea or not😅, but if I were to find myself around Fukuoka I would definitely come
Haha YES! Then I do request a visit if it does happen. Here is hoping this dream becomes a reality…one day…soon!
Thanks for the support man 🙋🏽♂️✌🏽
If they speak English, that worker is likely to be from Vietnam or the Philippines. More and more convenience stores are bringing in foreign workers to cover shifts that japanese workers don't want.
Yeah I have noticed more foreign workers in convenience stores though I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I like seeing Japan becoming more diverse. I think it is good for the culture here. Though this worker is Japanese, he is such a nice guy!
@@hangswithchristian Japan should be more diverse like in the US. Japan needs more Black and Brown people.
Yeah it’s slowly becoming more diverse which is nice though I do also love that they protect their culture and way of life by being less diverse. I think finding the right balance is key.
@@Mwoods2272are you joking?
@@Mwoods2272 why? To meet a quota? Gtfo. I would not want Japan to be anything like America it would ruin it's culture
Taiwanese here :D, it's awesome to hear that you want to travel to Taiwan. And you have that super friendly vibe man.
Oh that’s awesome, thanks for stopping by!
YES! I have been wanting to visit Taiwan for quite some time. I’ve always heard great things about the place and people. Anywhere particular you’d suggest?
Thanks again mate 🙋🏽♂️🤙🏽
@@hangswithchristian I would recommend Hualien, it’s at eastern part of Taiwan, lots of beautiful natures like the coastline and mountains. And Sun Moon lake, it’s at middle of Taiwan. :)
That’s awesome!
All noted down. Thanks so much for the information mate 🤙🏽 can’t wait to explore Taiwan one day soon ✈️
@@hangswithchristian No worries :))
I just found your video out of nowhere bro
I’m Japanese who’s living in Perth
Thanks for spreading info about Japan!
Hey thanks for watching mate!
I hope you are enjoying Australia as much as I am enjoying Japan 🇯🇵 🇦🇺🙋🏽♂️
Lawson Legend….I see what you did there 😆. Awesome video again mate.
Don’t forget to hit me up before you go to Taiwan.
Haha he truely is one! Thanks for watching buddy and I will definitely get some insights from you about Taiwan. Can’t wait to visit there one day soon! ✌🏽
@hangswithchristian we are looking at trialing with the family there as we can WFH and it is my fav country i have ever been to around the world so far. Opening a coffee shop in Jpana was something i thought of considering in Ginza it is $10 australian dollars for a coffee. as you know people will line up when they know it is good and you only need a hole in the wall
Oh that sounds like a grand idea! That would be such an amazing experience.
And yeah, coffee is very expensive in Australia. It’s much more reasonable here though I’d just love to build a community and having a coffee shop is one of those unique ways to do that! Hopefully one day!
Can't lose when you go Aussie!
Haha thank you mate! Appreciate the kind words!
@@hangswithchristian I'm moving back after being out of Japan for 15 years!
Oh welcome back to Japan! 🇯🇵
Sending you some love from Norway. Looking forward to seeing how things progress. :)
OMG! That is amazing! Thank you so much for watching but also letting me know where from haha
Appreciate the support mate 🙋🏽♂️
Love it mate!! So good bringing clips from your friends in! Also, I’d absolutely go to your coffee shop ❤
Thank you so much mate!
I’m so happy I could include my best mates in this one 🙇🏽♂️
YES! Please come to my shop one day…if I ever get it off the ground. Looking forward to having a coffee and a chat 💬🇯🇵🙋🏽♂️
Another great video 🎉 the transitions are noice, I was super engaged 🙌🏻 & I bet your coffee shop will 100% pop off!
Haha thanks so much Sarz, I appreciate the return to watch another one!
Yeah right, I really feel like a coffee shop would be such a fun business here and also it would be a great opportunity to connect with the local community 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
I reckon my coffee shop Japanese would get better, way faster also haha
So excited watching your channel grow. Love your talent for videos and the music. You are really talented 😊.
Thank you so much for supporting for so long! Absolutely appreciate the kindness of everyone. 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Great camera work and I love Lawson! I appreciate you living in Japan! Keep going!
Thank you buddy, love the feedback and support 🤙🏽 and how good are Japanese conbini’s haha
What’s your favourite one though is the question?? 🤔
Hit me up in Seoul (fellow Aussie). Im actually heading to Fukuoka for the first time tomorrow! Super excited
Oh man that’s awesome!
I have some friends in Seoul I’ve been wanting to see. Looks like such a great place!
I hope you have an incredible time in visiting Fukuoka. Everyone recommends the Hakata Ramen and I can admit, it is very good haha
Love the energy man, keep living the dream!
Thanks so much Faz! Easy to have high energy when you are living your dream hey haha appreciate the watch and support man 🤙🏽🇯🇵

Thanks for taking the time to watch buddy. Appreciate it! Will this be your first trip to Japan? The weather at the moment has been beautiful so hopefully it holds out for your trip ✌🏽🙋🏽♂️
Great video. I love the idea of your coffee shop business. Would definitely visit when im in the area
Thank you so much for watching and for the feedback on the coffee shop. It’s been a dream mine for a long time. Any ideas on a name?
Enjoyed the video, great insights and answers to the viewer questions. Good luck on whatever venture you chose to pursue after language school, you've got a level head and realistic approach to life that's sure to pay off. Consider me subscribed and look forward to the next one!
Those are incredible kind words buddy, very much appreciate it. Not sure where the road will lead me but it’s looking bright. Thank you so much for tuning in and the kind words. Hope to hear from you again soon mate 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵✌🏽
Great Video. Super informative. We need more Ito content. Love him haha.

How good is Ito - he is such a great character haha I agree I need to see more of him. Thanks for tuning in buddy 🙋🏽♂️
10/10 video! You definitely answered all the questions with great information! Keep up the awesome work brother!
Hey Austin 🙋🏽♂️
By this time, I can say ‘as always’ I appreciate the feedback and watch buddy. A true OG to the channel and always love hearing for you. Did it give enough information you think? Anything left out?
Thank you mate 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
@@hangswithchristian it was definitely enough information given for each question. Especially since you gave out your personal experiences as well. I know I could relate!

Thank you mate, actually had an awesome time filming this hey. Woke at 5am to get this one in before school haha 🥱🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Any thoughts on a vid displaying your Japanese skill so you can look back and see how far you have come?
Haha I have thought about this. I’m so embarrassed to speak Japanese on camera at the moment TBH as it is not that good. I enioy the slow the process of showing little use in my videos atm.
How about a UA-cam Short on my most common words/phrases I use to get by in Japan?? 🇯🇵
Ooooo a fellow Aussie in Japan
Ayyy I’ve met a few of you in the comments and love hearing that! Welcome mate! Thanks for watching 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵🇦🇺
very informative, motivating and fun video.. 👍
Thank you so much! I hope I gave enough information and you found it fun. I had so much fun making this video and sharing about my experience in Japan so far 🇯🇵🙋🏽♂️
Awesome video brotha. Be cool to see more of Fukuoka and how different it is from the other parts of Japan !
Thank you so much, mate. I truly appreciate the feedback!
Yeah, I’m hoping to show more of this city once I get a little bit more free time. Im hoping more over the summer break. It has so much offer, a truly beautiful area!
Appreciate the watch legend 🤙🏽🇯🇵❤️
Hey man nice video! u got that coffee shop owner vibes dude! U definitely should go for it. Btw, u ever thought of going to see Softbank hawks game? I'm pretty sure the baseball scene is huge in Fukuoka. Baseball games in Japan r fun. big loud cheering with musical instruments, beer girls and good food. U can meet new people there too.
Hey I appreciate that feedback my dude. I feel a coffee shop would be a great direction plus I love building a community and you can’t do that any better in a physical format than a local coffee shop right?
And you are right, it’s baseball season! I’ve got a line on some tickets to a game to go to soon actually. I’ve never been to one but Im so pumped to check out the vibe. Appreciate the watch and great suggestions 🇯🇵✌🏽
@@hangswithchristian For sure dude! A coffee shop where people can socialize in both Japanese & English sounds like a good business model as well. It's all about creating good vibes bro and I think ur definitely suited for that!
Hey, thank you my dude! Appreciate the e feedback.
If I end up pulling it off, please stop by one day!
Good to see another Aussie is doing well in nippon
Much love from Hokkaido Brother
Thank you mate from the other end of Japan!
I hope the weather has been as amazing there as it has here.
Favourite spots in Hokkaido? Im yet to make it up that way but always heard incredible things!
@@hangswithchristian yeah mate life up here is good, I would strongly recommend heading up to Niseko in the winter months, lots of options with hiking, snowboarding and just going off the beaten path.
Yeah its definitely on the books I reckon!
I haven’t snowboarded in years so it would be amazing to get up that way. Thanks for the recommendation ✌🏽
That’s awesome informations!!!
Appreciate the feedback buddy!
Did you enjoy the information? 🙋🏽♂️
Love the video and the transitions. Where do you get your music?
A coffee shop would be great! I still stand by the mobile idea if they let you do that in Japan. You can have a “coffee van” and park where the workers are or near a park/tourist attraction. We have food trucks here and also car washes and oil change that come to your job. It’s great if you work long days.
Coffee Chat would be a good name! Cheers 🎉 W
Thanks for the return watch buddy! Always appreciate the feedback 👍🏼 yeah they do have food vans here in Fukuoka though they seem to have set locations. Im not sure of the rules on parking up on the side of the street for lunch. It’s not that easy to do that in Japan as the rules are different. But that would be very cool! Coffee chat if a great name btw, love it! Thanks again 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Hi from America Christian! That's an amazing goal for you Christian! I'm super excited for you. Silly question, but have you tried natto yet? If you have, what did you think? My nihongo sensei/tomadachi, says I have to try it when visiting in the Fall. Also do you have a favorite konbini? Some say Family Mart, others say 7/11. - Best wishes, Maria
Hey Maria!
Thanks for tuning in, Im so happy you enjoyed it ✌🏽
Haha yes I love Natto, I eat it every morning for breakfast. Super healthy and I always focus on that. Though do beware, most foreigners do not like it. I’ll let you decide once you give it a go haha
Hmm it is a hard choice between the two though I think maybe 7-11 is a little bit better on quality and choice though it is a constant debate! Thanks again for the support mate 🇯🇵🙋🏽♂️
Hello from North Pole, Alaska! New subscriber here, i really like your videos. Will be taking our second visit to Japan in September to see the Japanese band Frederic. I was wondering if you like any Japanese bands?
Wow! All the way from Alaska, that is so wild to me. I love hearing where people are viewing from, thank you so much for watching!
Oh I haven’t heard of them, I’ll give them a listen a little later today. Actually, surprisingly I don’t listen to alot of Japan music. Im actually more of a podcast person these days too haha
But thank you so much for giving me a new artist to. Appreciated! Hope to hear from you again soon mate and enjoy your Japan trip🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Thanks for the reply! A fun trivia fact about Alaska is that at it's closest point... Alaska and Japan are only 2000 miles apart. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos and interviews... you're very good at it! Cheers, Katie
That’s so kind of you to say Katie, looking forward to hearing from you again soon. And wishing you the best of luck hitting that 1K milestone soon I hope 🤞🏽
8:36 You are a legend eating natto. Are you planning to drive or driving in japan? I don't drink coffee but I would visit your coffee shop only if you have merch.
Natto EVERYDAY! I love it, can't get enough of it. Yeah eventually I want to buy a car here. Parking is so expensive so I'm waiting until I get a house one day that has a car space.
Aw thanks so much for wanting to come to my shop one day. And yes, there is a secret goal there to bring back my clothing company I used to own shhh 🤫
I am 1.93m tall. I always hit my head on my aparto door frame, ugh! It was about 1.85 m tall. My site line was clear sailing so I would always hit the top of my head if I wasn’t paying attention. I had another apartment where the doors inside were about 1.5 m tall. Those were great because I knew to duck. The top of the door was right in my line of vision.the nice part about being tall in Japan is you can see over the crowd and you can always tell who needs to touch up their roots, old men or old women. I was in Japan for 14 years. All in the Kanto region.
Haha OMG I can relate to this so much. I absolutely hate that I’m always on the look out for door frames. Also, checking out peoples hair roots cracked me up haha
Well done legend!
Thanks for tuning in, hope to hear again from you soon 🙋🏽♂️✌🏽
@@hangswithchristian what part of Australia are you from originally? I’m back home in Colorado now. Not so exciting compared to the Japan adventure. Good luck with getting a coffee shop started. You’re going to need a sponsor. You have to have somebody sign for your apartment once you’re out of the language school
Im from Brisbane originally but was living in Sydney for the last 10 years.
Ah but I’ve heard Colorado is a pretty beautiful place, though Im sure you are missing some things from Japan.
Yeah Im very fortunate to have a pretty decent support of friends already here with businesses that are willing to give me advice on those next steps. We’ll see what happens hey! ✌🏽
@@hangswithchristian Colorado has changed a lot over the years. The population has tripled in my lifetime. It’s not as wonderful as it used to be, becoming like a suburb of California. Too many people, too much money. I do like the Eastern coast of Australia. I’ve driven from Sydney to Brisbane and back, Sydney to Uluru and back. Australia is much more relaxed than Japan and the USA. Good times! Good you have a network that can give you advice as to how to cope through the maze of Japan!
Oh is that right?
I’ve always wanted to visit Colorado because so many people have said its so beautiful but it’s really interesting hearing that side of it!
That’s awesome you’ve done so much travel in Australia. It’s such a great place to do road trips. I really need to get a car here so I can road trip around Japan also! It’s not as big as Australia, but it surely has a lot more history to it and you can really see that by driving around. Can’t wait!
Just found your channel. Im also from Brisbane looking to study over there for a while. My only main concern and is that im 6'5 with a terrible lower back. Ive always been curious if things like bench and sink heights are about the same as AUS. Love the content.
Hey mate!
Thanks so much for the support buddy.
You are a tall boy haha and I can absolutely confirm…that they are not haha. Most bench heights tend to be shorter than ours. Maybe more modern houses maybe be better but right now I haven’t really been in many. Either way, you adjust and then you go back to AUS and everything is massive! Haha
Thanks again for watching buddy ✌🏽
Loved the video per usual! Thanks for answering my question!! You mentioned you were really frugal your last year in Sydney, which led me to a follow up - how long before the move did you decide you were going to move to Japan to attend language school? Had this always been a dream of yours or can you remember the moment where you decided to commit to that dream? Thanks as always, cheers - Yoni
No worries Yoni, thanks for sending in the great question!
Umm the commitment part was maybe just over a year before coming here and the language school was always an option as it was the easiest way for me to come here long term. Living in Japan has always been the main dream and that has been on the cards for the longest time!
Thanks so much for the support again Yoni, I hope that helps. Hope to hear from you again soon 🙋🏽♂️✌🏽🇯🇵
i gonna study English this channel!
ご清覧ありがとうございました!
I hope you enjoy the videos 🙋🏽♂️🇯🇵
Canada! (:
im actually so jealous of your angles on the 360 ): the neck magnet was 100% not designed with women in mine. my necklace shots are up my nose and to the sky ):
Haha I see you understand what I mean by HelloTalk not being a dating app. I’ve had some interesting private messages there in the past! 🤣
I love Tokyo, I bet you are enjoying it there. My favourite area is Shimokitazawa though it has modernised alot recently! Thanks so much for tuning in and the support mate 🙋🏽♂️🤙🏽
Hahah true! Didn’t think about that. It comes with an attachment to change the angle though. Hopefully that works better for you but its a great little camera 📸
@@hangswithchristian definitely loving the camera either way! My partner and I just did a road trip all the way from Yokohama to Sapporo and vlogging it everyday (on tiktok) and it got us all the awesome "anything magnetic is a tripod" BTS shots (:
Sorry, just saw this buddy! That sounds like an amazing journey. And YES, everything magnetic is your friend when filming haha appreciated mate!
Hey mate, I was wondering how much roughly you saved back in Aus before moving to Japan? My partner and I are looking to move for a little while from Perth, but just have no clue on an idea for how much to save. I understand if its a bit of a personal question to answer.
Very good watch and great insights for someone like myself regardless!
Thanks
Hey buddy, yeah great question. It really comes down to expenses hey. So I saved for an 18 month trip.
My school and accommodation was all paid upfront which was around 25K AUD and then I budget for myself around 1K a month outside of that. Now that’s alot. Obviously you can go WAY less than that if you budget. That’s me being really comfortable.
I would suggest just breaking down every single expense of the course of a month and multiply it by 12. That’s what I did!
Hope that helps mate and you both get to live your dream of coming here 🇯🇵🙋🏽♂️
this is a late question. are u planning or open to collaborating with other youtuber living in japan?
Absolutely!
If the opportunity comes up. I would definitely love to! I would love to hear about their experience so far living in Japan! 🇯🇵
Are there still "Ancient" Places in Japan, I live in germany and my town has hundreds of year old Buildings that are still Up, What about japan
Oh great question!
And YES!
Japan is vast in historic locations, it is part of the reason I love it here. It’s vastly different to Australia. Is there anything particular you’d love to see me cover or want me to kind of freestyle what I like to cover?
I’m trying to cover Kyushu atm, so if there is anything there that you find, let me know!
@@hangswithchristian Sorry for the late response, I accidently cleared my notifications. Im a big fan of shrines if there are any in Kyushu Would be great if you could check them out.
@@ShiniGashiOW no worries buddy. I have plenty of time in Japan so I’ll see what I can find once I get more out and about! Thanks for the response buddy 🙋🏽♂️
Is your debit card from Wise? If so how is it?
Sure is!
It’s actually fantastic. Really great rates, easy to use and haven’t had any troubles using it anywhere so far. Definitely worth it. You can also add a digital card to your phone wallet 💳👍🏼
How can we reserve for tokyo skytree?
I’ve been to Tokyo Skytree before, and I just booked when I arrived. But you are able to book from various locations online if you search on Google. Maybe best to book in advance if you plan to visit during a busy period actually!
Did the money you saved account for your rent? Or are you also working right now? If so, what are you doing for work?
Hey mate! Thanks for watching.
That was my money I saved on top of rent. I had to pay rent and school all up front…was alot to transfer haha
Nah, Im in a fortunate position with my savings that I don’t need to work thankfully. Are you looking at coming to study yourself?
@@hangswithchristian that's amazing!!! Good for you!! I totally would if I was still single haha learning Japanese on my own at home for fun and visiting Japan for yearly vacations in the mean time. Love your channel!!
