Yes... 1992 and the "police-stories". But in a way that was fun. When I went home from that Party in the Dragon House, Vagator and it's garden (November 92), the cops where standing on the road a few 100 meters away, and they where quite pissed of, cause they couldn't do anything. It was mostly "inside" (the Dragonhouse was once a public ballroom and a local cinema, so there was muuuuch space) and the private property of someone who had made the party an "official" birthday party, when the cops asked. At least this are my memories. When I went home before sunrise (it was mostly "inside", so I could went earlier :) :) :) ), a friend with a moped gave me a ride. SHIT, the cops on the street. Drop what you have in your hand... I aspected to be controlled. But the driver... she said "Take care. Duck!" and drove under the lathi-stick one of the cops hold up to let us stop. Wow, ... oh, I could see them running to their bike. This girl was crazy. She drove as fast as possible, but obviously the cops where faster and almost got us when we reached the Vagator-Anjuna "border" on the main road. We were very lucky to switch off lights and to drove directly into the small and dark mud-roads of the northern part of Anjuna-Beach ... and that the cops where afraid to get big trouble with the locals, if they put hands on their customers. I heard the rumour, that some cops had been beaten up a while before, when they tried to charge some foreigners in the night. Well, I had my more or less "big" party (and it was one of the best I've been), I made a nice small one on my own birthday with a handful of friends in the garden of a local friend, only with his Hifi-system and some tapes, we brought there from home. And than there was this party @ South-Anjuna Beach Party Spot (also November????), being busted by the police. They cut off the power. Well, some people had portable cassette-players. For a while the mats of the chailady, I was sitting near by, transformed into a little dancefloor :) and later the shacks around - especially Guru Bar where full with people, dancing to the music of their tapes. Well, I would say: that was fun.
I'm so curious about all this.. Why did people go there specifically to party ? Were drugs involved systematically ? What did you eat ? Why bring children ? I have so many questions these videos seem to be from another planet
