I used to never think of krist as that remarkable of a bass player, but when I first heard this it became clear that he is the most instrumentally talented member of nirvana
@@JUUD79 yep, the answer is clearly Dave Grohl. I don't think you'll find anyone calling Krist the best bassist in rock. You'll find tons of musicians saying that about Grohl as a drummer. And then you throw in that Grohl plays guitar and sings too, and he's the correct answer.
Kurt said in one of his notes that Krist did "less than nothing" which is very unfair assessment , Kurt came up with the unique chord progressions and Krist added basslines other bassists would have added something different and maybe not as good , these basslines are OFF THE CHARTS! in catchyness and hookyness this one for Lithium is incredible work mindblowing in 1991 and same today

Dual humbuckers, scooped mids, treble and bass pretty high, new Rotosound strings, some kind of Ampeg SVT sim and drive gets you pretty far. And Andy Wallace added some automatic doubling via a Yamaha SPX 90 during mixing, giving an almost chorus-y effect to the bass tracks.
this is an alt take of the song lithium they used this to calibrate and to check audio the real bass (master tapes/multi tracks) for this song where either stolen lost or burnt in the universal fire

Nirvana was very much about the Bass as it was about Cobain's guitar , all the basslines on every song are addictive

Idk but it helps to get this tone by using a pick
Don’t fiddle with your amp settings, just get a Fender Rumble Studio 40, it’s a great bass amp, and ir has a Krist tone called “In Bloom”.

i thought the mastertracks to this song was lost, how did you find this bassline?
Most of their master tapes were lost in a studio fire years ago. I'm not sure how this one resurfaced, though.
