I'm nuts about Glenn! He's a huge talent! Still rockin' and nailin' those insanely high notes! His abilities are mind-blowing. When he starts singing I ask myself only one question: HOW??? He's on point always! Good bless him. He's a remarkable singer! Never can't get enough of his songs ❤️😍🥰😍💔💐😘😘🤘🤘💞🌹🌹

I saw him on Saturday 21st at Wolverhampton, England 2023 where he is touring the 50th anniversary of Deep Purple's "Burn" album. He is 72 now and there were gasps from the audience when he hits those high notes. I am 63 and was blown away by how he can still do that! The best rock singer I have ever seen and he still looks great.

Another great Choice by Ken. Glenn is One of a kind! I have been following Him since 1974 which at that time I was blessed with the 1972 Album by Trapeze - You are the music were just the band.
From another Glenn review I had noted that Glenn breaks the unbelievable barrier toward the end of a song called PUSH which was on Glenn Hughes - Feel album.
Ken, Thanks for being true to your trade and a great Singer as you are! On Top of it all, Thanks for picking Glenn!! : )

I remember the first time that I heard Glenn. It must have been well over thirty years ago and I wasn't very impressed. I felt like was just a guy who screeched out incredible high notes and had little else to offer. These days I feel that he has become a true legend of the genre. I seek out anything new that he releases and truly appreciate what he delivers as an artist. His growth as a musician, a songwriter, a singer, and an artist has been incredible. Glenn is certainly one of the few "fine wines" in the rock world.

Singing and playing bass is one of the most difficult coordination challenges there is. And he also could, in spite of the excesses, keep his voice usable and on top of that he also has a style of his own.
    He definetely deserves praise.

Glenn is a straight up phenom and, the funniest thing, I actually hear what you're talking about; his sound got ronder and fuller. Even on the supersonic notes. Which reminds me of Biff Byford, lead singer of Saxon. His voice also have matured and now, in his 70's, it sounds as good as it ever did, but with a fuller, rounder, (as you say) seasoned tone. As always, mr Tamplin, a pleasure to join you on this journey. Stay safe and take care.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Glenn Hughes. One of my fav all time singers. Never was crazy about his shrieking outbursts, but that's just Glenn. I'll cut him some slack there because he has the ultimate rock and blues voice and it's been a large part of the soundtrack of my life, everything from DP, Hughes/Thrall, Black Sabbath, Phenomena, Iommi/Hughes, Black Country Communion, etc etc. The man's back catalog of top tier classic hard rock songs is a library in and of itself. And he sounds as good now as a Senior Citizen as he did way back when in Trapeze and DP, in my opinion. Glenn Hughes is a rock God as far as I'm concerned, and will always have the utmost respect from this humble rock music fanatic. Glad you finally featured him, Ken, not that I ever had any doubt that you would... he is a shining example of how it is actually possible to maintain your singing voice over a very long period of time.

I am the biggest fan of the voice of Rock I like the most his 1980s where he does not remember anything, his work with Phenomena , Tony Iommi, with john norum, the Hughs Thrall project ,brilliant stuff , his low and mid range is a wonderlust. he did more of it lately with the dead daisies , and the result was epic Album , I hope they are bringing back some good stuff again , I loved the Black country Communion stuff , their second Album was amazing , man in the middle , cold , the medusa , and crawl are my favourite tracks , the fused Iommi and hughes Album was an amazing Album it should be 1 of the black Sabbath 80s non Ozzy collection , and shame there was no touring on these amazing collection of songs .
all due respect for Mr Coverdale I am big fan as well , I love come taste the band more I consider it a different DP sound and Tommys guitars were absolutely the perfect one for glenn , at the end a kind of out of Context an ADHD request from you Ken , Please, can you compare all Uriah Heep vocalists over the decades when you have time, I don't know where else to request this ?

I agree Glenn is definitely better now than back then.
He outclassed Bruce in the Jon Lord performance.
Dare I say it but, I personally think Glenn today, is superior to his peers today, from back in the 70s. IE: Gillan, Halford

Glenn Hughes and Paul Rodgers are 2 of the greatest voices in rock, and both have gotten better with age. Glenn's stuff with Black Country Communion is awesome. I love his work on Seventh Star, the Black Sabbath album that was really a Tony Iommi solo album, especially "Heart Like a Wheel" and "In Memory." I've always been an Ian Gillan fan when it comes to Deep Purple, mainly because I've never been a big Coverdale fan, so I'm getting into Glenn's stuff with DP very late. Great video! Would love to hear your take on his BCC stuff as well. I especially like "Man in the Middle."

I believe and iam not a vocal coach, but if by the time you get like glenn to your older years and don't abuse your voice to much hopefully, and you can hold whatever range that might be well done. He's 72 and still rockin great ...I hear guys from helloween, saxon biff 72 , Rob halford 72 still able hold it .....i do believe that ian gillan is starting to struggle now at 78 ...

Great video. Glenn is awesome. Got to see Glenn twice in the last 5 years or so. Seeing him do the Deep Purple set at the Caloundra Music Festival was brilliant! The best part? Watching a bunch of younger kids/teens be absolutely blown away when they opened with "Burn". Massive sound and the kids were like "Whoa! WTF is this" and took off towards the stage. Us circa 50yr olds and our wives got a buzz from that. 😂

The guy is just a freak of nature. What a voice! 🤘🏼😎🤘🏼
Hughes did talk extensively about some bad habits he had in the past, and how he cleaned up his act. Luckily in time, and before he squandered his gift. That would've been a shame.
But he prevailed, and he's had one hell of a career and he's still going strong. And in the process surpassing vocalists who entered the scene a decade after he had already made a name for himself.

Hi Ken, Glenn has used his ‘mid voice’ more on the BCC and Dead Daises ’ eras generally toned down his vocal excesses which artistically has payed dividends. Of course Glenn is about to tour his 50th Anniversary of Burn’ so it will be interesting if he drops the keys and if that affects the power of those songs. My favourite Glenn vocals are ‘Play Me Out’ ‘’It’s About Time’ which are a joy to hear when he plays them Live. Check out Glenn’s ‘Addiction’ release from ‘96.

She is still going strong at 71 and doing a US tour. I have been a big fan of hers for many years. Although her voice has changed significantly, she uses some really unique vocal techniques on her songs and sounds fabulous. Food for thought. Thanks for all you do!

The most amazing thing about Glenn is not his voice, but the fact that he is still alive given the amount of substance abuse he " enjoyed".

You should really do one of these on Bob Dylan. His changes in vocal approach and ability are fascinating:
Early 60: nasal but in tune folk singing
    Mid 60s: non-nasal pitchy vocals
    Late 60s: smooth country crooning
Mid-70s: His vocal peak as a rock singer…lots of unhealthy pulling of chest voice that burned him out for the rest of his career
    80s and 90s: rough
Early 2000s: rough Tom Waits esque rasp
Late 2000s: American songbook crooning with good pitch. Making the most of his damaged instrument
Finding usable clips is likely tough, but I would like to see Ken’s take on his journey
