Hey Mark, great Notcast. Man, I queued outside Rock City in 1993 for tickets. I got turned away, due to them selling out, about 10 punters from the kiosk. I've regretted tat extra ten minutes I spent in bed ever since!
'Faith' was my introduction to The Cure when it was released in '81, and in a year in which I played Joy Division's 'Closer' almost obsessively it made perfect sense. You're absolutely right about 'Staring at The Sea' as a compilation. These two Cure albums, plus 'Seventeen Seconds', 'Kiss Me...', and 'Disintegration' have always my favourite from the band...
Loved this! More ranking vids pretty please.. you make it look so easy! I adore “The Hanging Garden”, “Prayers For Rain” “Us Or Them” “Other Voices” ‘Paris’ ‘Mixed Up’ and “Perfect Blue Sky” - Junkie XL feat. Mr. Smith.
Enjoyed this thoroughly. It's been a while since I've been able to watch, and this was great. Didn't always agree with your opinions, but that's part of the fun. Watching U2 now, curious to hear what you have to say after recently seeing one of the Sphere shows, which was absolutely mind-blowing.
Great ranking Mark, my best to worst studio albums: 1. Wild Mood Swings 2. Faith 3. Bloodflowers 4. Disintegration 5. The Top 6. Pornography 7. Wish 8. The Head On The Door 9. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me 10. The Cure 11. Seventeen Seconds 12. Three Imaginary Boys 13. 4:13 Dream
Great job, as always, Mark. For me, the many textures and variation are what make The Cure great, and allow us to have songs that we love and hate. I tend to be very album centric and try and enjoy each on its merits. I mostly agree with your rankings. Disintegration isn’t my favorite, and if I had to pick just one album it would be Wish, closely followed by KMKMKM.
Wish with all its B-sides is their best collection of songs, I met the love of my life at one of their concerts that year - saw them again in 2016, 3-hour show doing deep cuts - A little too much "Top" stuff, worst album - "Disintegration" is Ok but other than "Wish" the dark works are the best "Seventeen Seconds", "Faith" & "Pornography" - "One Hundred Years" is a spiritual experience live
1.) Faith; 2.) Head On The Door; 3.) Pornography; 4.) Japanese Whispers; 5.) Seventeen Seconds; 6.) Disintegration; 7.) Boys Don't Cry; 8.) Kiss Me...; 9.) Wish; 10.) Staring At The Sea
my cure albums best to worst are 1. bloodflowers 2. disintegration 3. wish 4. faith 5. pornography 6. head on the door 7. kiss me 8. the cure 9. seventeen seconds 10. wild mood swings (ive come to appricieate it a lot more recently) 11. the top 12. 4:13
Mark agree with maybe 30%. The beauty of the diversity of the Cure i guess. Appreciate your opinion though. By the way. Were you the one going nutso at the twilight sad at the empire belfast. I was there. Epic night.
Best yet i reckon Mark. I love how you have the chunky nuts to fess up your unpopular truths. On my old podcast i took a lot of heat for saying i prefer Trompe Le Monde to Surfer Rosa. But i do. Sue me. Keep it up pal.
@markreed4543 Quite right too. It's knackering liking what you're supposed to like rather than what you actually like. Wish was the first CURE LP I waited for. I got it on my 19th Birthday along with some cherry doc martens and Going Blank Again. Do i win £5?

This is probably my favorite of all the videos you've done!

Just brilliant Mark. Saw The Cure tour Wish in 1992. £10 at Liverpool Royal Court. Them were the days.

Wish is my favourite, Disintegration is the best, if that makes sense.

It seems to me there's something serious beginning, a new approach found to the meaning of life...

Wild Moon Swing is a great album, only the people who have listen to it knows that.
Well, it has 3 bad songs - the rest is solid
@@markreed4543 Round & Round & Round is only 1 song ;-)
@@madeindouai1710 Gone and Return are rubbish!
Hi Mark! Do you like “Cut Here” about Billy Mackenzie? I sadly only discovered The Associates last year and I’m slightly obsessed 🤩
Its pretty good. Maybe not a great single, but a fine song.

Haha... Mark, you are still wrong about The Top!
