At this point i think the stop leak seal sweller is the way to go. Also after a week if you can get to the gasket bolts it helps to give them all a snug-up, like a 1/4 turn. That’s what’s worked for me.
I will share with you what a poor white shade tree mechanic with 67 years on my feet has learned. I will pay a mechanic to do something that I feel is beyond my skill set, and if he will allow me to watch him do it, then next time. I might try it, and save some money. But, here is something else, the cars are getting more and more beyond my abilities every model year. I have started a repair, and had to pay for the car to be towed to a dealership or specialist after I couldn't finish it. So, tread carefully Bob. And Happy Motoring.
I ran a 2011 Rolls Royce Ghost until recently. The car had barely reached 20,000 miles when I got it. During my ownership it never missed a beat. Service costs were around £4,500 per service, but the smile factor this car gave me was priceless...
It's a shame that when they build a car like a Rolls-Royce, a Bentley or a Mercedes they are not built to last at least 100,000 miles with just oil changes, tire rotations and brakes. A Rolex will last for years if it's properly maintained. But, these car companies are all the same. They want you to keep coming back to the dealership and dropping a bundle.
Having a Rolls Phantom can be expensive I'm afraid, Robert. But I love Rolls Royce just as much as you do... But you drive a Rolls Phantom. I'm just an enthusiast for the brand. Very best wishes
Every time I took my Yaris in for repairs it was like $2000, $3000, $6000 so it doesn’t matter how cheap or expensive the cars are. It’s just ridiculous to service them. I found it way cheaper to buy brand new every couple years than to try to service old cars
This is true!! By boss at work had a 2016 Mazda CX5. The tranny started slipping, NO independent tranny shop would touch the car. So the car had to go to Mazda dealer. They wanted $12K USD to replace it. You dont rebuild it-you REPLACE IT!!! Suffice it to say, he got rid of the car! It wasnt worth it to fix the tranny. 👎👎👎👎
@@SlickTV.I would agree with your statement, he’s probably not a Rolls Royce fan, but he seems to believe in this product, and he’s not wrong, Bob will be the first to tell you, you need money to maintain a Rolls.
Some 5-10 years ago I was quoted something crazy to have a Buick LaCrosse front end redone ... and I told them for that I could put 4 new tires on it 5 times. It shut them up pretty quick.
Rolls-Royce video Bob how do you like that? I’m just messing with you. I enjoy all your videos including the Rolls-Royce I enjoy your humor thanks Bob keep up the good work my family and I will keep watching ya.
"Wizard" does NOT know Rolls Royces! His mechanics are awesome, but they are NOT versed on RR either! PS I agree with you! Just because you have the money does NOT mean you want to be used! I think you are smart! I service all my Rolls Royces (current 8)!
Hey Bob, I love the English culture as I'm from England too. I love tea as well. So it's fine really! I love the content you create on Rolls Royce! I love the way car rides etc! You're good! Love to see the series on the barn find of the 73 corniche! Keep it going! Take care, Josh
The Rolls Royce content is how I got started watching your channel. There is not much content about the Phantoms. I used to own a Bentley Turbo R and I really like the Phantom's. I think the Phantom will be my next car purchase. I also like learning about all your vehicles including your coach. I really like the older stainless steel Prevost coaches. Thank you for your content.
A shop wanted $700 to fix my oil pan leak. I started using AT 205 and after 2 oil changes, no more leak. But I have to use it all the time. Every oil change. The thing is I've read it cuts down on your engine lubrication protection.
When I was 22 years old I bought a pristine '70 Mercedes C250. It had been in storage for a couple of years, but only had 22,000 miles. Within the first year it required a valve job because of the leaded to no lead gas change required by the government. The valve guides had to be replaced. But after that, no much went wrong that I couldn't fix myself. Taking cars to the dealer for service is something I only do while they're in warranty.
Good on you. The RR is great, don't worry about the oil leak... BMW motors have lots of plastic... I have a couple of MINI's... I know... do it same time you do the timing chain... looking forward to some more videos on your new Corniche ... O do you need an air con in the new garage for the Royce?
You can hang some soft nerf balls or ping pong balls on the right side of the container and align it with the side mirror or front left corner to show you if you're aligned when reversing in.
I have my 2015 Mercedes S550 at the shop right now , among some other stuff they’re changing my transmission fluid as well , price , $180 bucks … rear differential fluid change is 60 bucks … I love my S class … 😊
If you remember the third installment of the Cannonball Run (Cannonball Fever or Speed Zone depending where you live) the two millionaire brothers in the film drive red with black interior Bentley convertibles (the RR Corniche equivelant) and they looked fantastic.
the dude from project farm is theee ishhhh!!!!!!! and what he does is super hard work. salute to him. just editing videos alone consistantly is hard work. salute to u bob too
Love your channel, am a 68 year old Mercedes guy.... Red is great, but it looks soooo classy like it is.... Dan I always wanted a RR, but no longer live in SO CAL, now in NW Arkansas. Try to get proper service on a RR in Arkansas...
The leaking valve cover gasket sometimes drips oil on the exhaust manifold and you get a neausating smell through the vents You won't smell it when you're moving but i you will n stop and go traffic
Bob you might want to down size to a Honda. I owned 3 new Ford's and all leaked oil on my concrete driveway within first year or so and after three years dripped oil in at least three areas. Now on my second Honda and even though second one is seven year old never dripped a drop of oil onto my driveway.
🤔😅 Come on, when you own and drive on cars, especially older Rolls_Royce and Bentley vehicles. You will always have oil 🛢 stains on your driveway, or garage floor. Part of the joy !!......😅
Couple of ideas. I would have done the trans oil and filter change over your pit. Ive used Valvoline max life atf in many different Zf trans both Range Rovers and Vw with no issues. Its like the dealer "Fluid doesnt need changing as its filled for life". I would also start using t5 15/40 as the lighter oils with higher mileages tend to lose the fuel savings due to wear and leaks. YMMV
I look at your Rolls Royce adventures as...your business, and if you enjoy it, who cares what anyone else thinks? What matters is that you enjoy the car you like.
That’s a beautiful car. I’d ride in that beast. I love the red and black. Kounts Customs uses a great wrap company. Can’t remember the name. But they are in LV.
I don’t care what anyone says, cars are expensive to maintain full stop. I have a 20 year old Merc CLK that costs me on average $1,000 a year in maintenance and a 8 year C class that costs me equally $1,500 every year, cars are simply expensive to maintain, doesn’t matter the brand or car make. Unless it’s a 1920s Defender that can run on water.
Why is Rolls so popular if they are money pits? I'd rather have a hot rod 😂...... I'm new to your channel and I imagine you do have a hot rod too idk 😊
I dont get it.. what filter and oil did you get? If you got the 760 transmission filter then it's the same.. as long as you got it OEM or ZF and not some cheap aftermarket.
They need to have that camera thing on all cars today! I bought my new car thinking it would be all high tech especially being Japanese, but nope no heated seats, no fancy buttons.... the passenger seat doesn't move electronically only manually & it only has a backup camera for $30,000 I expected more lol....I worked hard for that 30g's!
$4,000 what size Vaseline do they give you after that screwing. Manufacturers are making it very difficult to check or replace transmission fluid with them no longer providing a transmission dip stick. A national transmission shop screwded me years ago on a rear drive Chevy. Told me it would only cost $100 to inspect the slipping trans. Next day they said it would think it was around a grand to rebuild it. Told them no thanks and would be by to give them the $100 but told me trans is apart and I told them that I only agreed to pay $100. Refused thier calls after I told them waiting for my lawyer to get back from vacation in a few days to talk with them. They came down in price for repairs three times before I agreed to it.
If you're driving a Camry, you're probably not a car guy. A car guy will go to great lengths to enjoy the experience of a vehicle. Sometimes that means adding a quart of oil every month or so to keep things going. Other times, it means phoning a friend to come help you swap an axle on on the side of the road in the middle of the night. That's what makes it fun and creates memories. What's your most memorable experience driving your Camry? Life is too short to drive boring cars.
Bob; I like the present colour. I wouldn’t paint it red if it were mine. The black rims are ok. I watched the video where you were debating about the silver or the black ones you had on hand. Didn’t get a chance to vote, though. Makes good sense though. Why buy new tyres right? Anyway, enjoy the videos (mostly). Karaoke isn’t my thing! BOL!
I say keep the chrome and honestly it's YOUR car and you should be allowed to do what YOU want! If you want to wrap it in red go for it! Hell if anything I say go for a two tone like your other one, I could totally see this car wrapped in red with a black roof but whatever you do is your choice man, can't wait to see what you have planned for it, Cheers!

$250 labor to change my trans fluid on my 2006 phantom at my local bmw mechanic , I brought the zf parts from fcpeuro

At 205 is amazing. Pour one bottle at a time though add more as needed because it works over time. Super strong stuff better than everything else.

AGAIN, you are amazing and YES, DIY if you can. I have a car channel and that is what I teach..
Key word Brits invented for minor oil leaks is "Seepage" & think of it as free rustproofing :) .Bob just love your videos😘!
Hey Bob, Scotty Kilmer swears by a product called AT 205 re-seal… scratch that, you just announced that you ordered a case of it 😂
Let us know how it works!
Maybe try snugging down the valve cover bolts that you can get to, I know in my Toyota 4runner they get a little loose and leaks sometimes.
Scotty is a legend. But he would call this car a massive money pit! Buy Toyota or Lexus.
