Unmesh, I often have to recover Kodachrome color slide film and color movie film from the 1930s and 40s that has shifted dramatically to red. it's amazing how often just choosing "auto color" from the Pshop menu instantly restores the original colors.

The image is not all the same color. You're saying that everywhere the image is all the same color blue... but when you're going over the hues and saying "the color is 200"... really the color values in the hue channel are changing a lot from 195s to 215s... that is like a change from orange to yellow, and lots of the original color information is still in ranges that are shifted by the blue light, but the contrasts in the ranges are still there and that is why you can recover color information from this through adjustments.
There are much easier ways to work with the hue channel directly and then adjust the chroma or white and black levels independently while shifting the hue information back to the warm colors it would have under normal lighting. If the entire image had been colorized to just one hue like it was really 200 everywhere, then it would be a very different challenge entirely. Using direct color changes or gradient maps could help, but this example is really not an impossible challenge, there is still plenty of information in that hue channel, even just a few degrees of shifting can be something that you can change back into a large contrast like a very slight 195 to 205 can be changed into a 0 red to 60 yellow. Similar to how you can have a greyscale image and you may be able to get lighter colors to become yellow and darker colors to become reds or blues, but there would be some greys that colors on different ends of the spectrum would become the same grey and not easily recovered with total-image adjustments into the original colors.
Just work directly with the Hue channel like with HWB while in RGB layers and this is so much easier to do and more intuitive to understand and follow how to do it on other images with similar challenges. This is just a matter or remapping the hue and other tonal changes back to colors they would be under different lighting, but the color information was not totally lost to begin with, it is there in all those minor changes in hue.

Great tutorial, learned a lot. Suggestion: assume your viewer knows nothing. When you say things like "Let's make the brush a little smaller", you need to tell us what you're doing. All we see is the brush getting smaller, but no idea what keystrokes you used. Also, when you're changing the opacity, I noticed you click on the "Opacity" label and just drag left and right. That's a hidden feature that novice don't know about.

The thing I find funny - is you've fixed the colour cast on a photo, that is itself a cheat! That microphone has no plug in it - so the photographer staged it, or she was miming! He he!

A zombie thumb, lol. Magic of the AI. She still has smeared lips and sand colored jacket under the hair. Photographers look at beautiful women all day and try to make them even better.
An 8-bit image doesn't have enough data for an extreme curves adjustment.

I, also find, if you click on FILTER and then on the Neural Filter, and then Colorize, you get the same effect, it removes the color cast and restore the image to it's original colors. Much, Much easier, and quick.

As always awesome tutorial...love learning new techniques...one question...when you open your neural filter, it opens to the right of your main PS window sort of like two windows tiled vertically. When I open my neural filter it "floats" over my PS screen making it a bit difficult to see the changes that I'm making. Also my neural filter preview panel is very small and it's not as easy to select the areas I want to flag as yours...any suggestions? My "tile 2 vertically" is greyed out under "arrange" work space. As always- thanks! Jim
