I missed this video somehow. Love all the things you have done on the farm. The new little house is a great addition. Keep up the great work and love your videos.
Thank you so much for taking so much time out of your busy schedule to answer all of my questions! I love being "City Girl" to you. Your place is so beautiful. I could tell that everything was new and really well done, so I kinda figured that you may have done it yourself...well done, you! I also understand why the mules are gone. You seemed to have given great care in finding places where they will be loved and cared for. Now, as for me. It's probably a good thing that I am a city girl, because I would be attached to every, single horse, mule, dog and cat that came near enough for me to touch. And if they kiss me like they did the man who came to work on the windmill (?), it would be over. I would belong to them FOREVER!! Through you I am learning and have learned a great deal about not only the expenses but the daily care involved in keeping donkeys and horses. Therefore, for now, I will happily live through you for as long as you care to share. So please know that I'm watching and that I would love to take you up on your kind offer to visit one day. All the best to you and yours, always!...City Girl (7th generation from Washington, D.C.)
@@tangormley You are more than welcwelcome City Girl!!! Thank you for being so kind and I was more than glad to do it! The cats and dogs will come in due time, I want them now but know I need a bit more places for them to get in and out of danger. It’s been a labor of love for sure and is my happy place, I grew up in an apartment my whole life prior to joining the military! The outdoors is where I thrive to be, the city is good to visit (for me) but I enjoy the fresh air! We are an hour east of Atlanta so anytime you’re in the area, come one and all. My hope is to open my farm to military/first responders who suffer from PTSD, a place to come and do equine therapy (real thing) and find some peace. Have a beautiful weekend! Dave
Thanks for the video, in fact all of them. You're correct, trained horses cost a lot of money. I actually adopted 2 mustangs and basically let the BLM pay for me to keep them for a year to train them. The next year I got 4 and did the same thing. I didn't make a lot of money, but I did make enough to buy a couple nice quarter horse colts. Got them trained up and made enough money on them that I can buy what I actually want, which is a couple drafts and 1 nice quarter horse. We'll see how it works out, but when it's all said and done I'm trying to get my hobby to pay for itself, so if I have to keep adopting and training a few mustangs a year, that's what I'll do. I have much respect for what you're doing. Hopefully my young drafts will work out for me.
@@peacepeople9895 Thank you PP, I appreciate it. I love watching the folks who do the mustang makeovers, very interesting to me. Sounds like you’re doing it the right way but more importantly what you want. You’re in the right mindset with just trying to get your hobby to pay for itself. 😃Have a beautiful weekend! Dave
You have a very nice place for your horses, nicer than actually necessary for keeping horses. I have had horses now for 61 years and never tired of working with them. But I managed to keep my expenses down, and earned money with them. By the way , if you have a good farrier, it is not necessary to have him come every seven weeks, depending of course on the quality of hooves on the horses.
Yeah, I'm one of those viewers who lives vicariously through your channel. Not a city girl, as I live in the mountains. Over the years I've spent a lot of time around horses and other animals, but very much a novice. Nowadays I find it fascinating watching and learning from your channel 😊I think I've told you before that my aunt and uncle had a farm where I spent a lot of my youth. Your windmill always brings back happy memories for me. Thanks as always for another great video. Have a great day and God bless!
I do remember you telling me that Lbird. Im so thankful for viewers like you and I love hearing that the windmill brings back good memories! You did not tell me however what mountains you live in? I much prefer the mountains over the beach, but seems everyone always wants to go to the beach on vacation! Have a great week! Dave
@@l-bird I’m actually talking to guide in Wyoming about doing a pack trip out there next year, not sure exactly where he is but he has a company called Livingston Outfitters. I think that’s it anyway, trying to get all of the details now. That’s one state I haven’t been to.
@@bdradley1 Wyoming has a lot of nice areas worth visiting. I'm not familiar with Livingston Outfitters, so I did what every person does these days. I googled it, haha. The one I found is in Cody, Wy. I haven't been there in quite some time. But, I use to love Cody. They have a great wild west museum there called The Buffalo Bill Center. I'm about a 5 hour drive west of Cody. Cody is a beautiful area and would be perfect for a pack trip. You definitely should do it!
New subscriber. Here from Fletcher Farms. Thank you for rescuing those colts.
