I find it “Incredibly Sad” that you all can’t get back together as you once were. Life is far too short. I have long been a fan of Pink Floyd and I am much younger than both of you however, I have a Stage 4 lung disease that will cut my life short and when you’re in my position you realise what’s really important in life and have a wisdom beyond your years.

I really love all the members of Pink Floyd equally but I don't like the fact that David is now leading Pink Floyd. It is not his band. It is a collective of Roger, David & Nick. If they are to perform at all, it should be with all three of them. I'm sorry to roger that dave is doing this and I just hope that things from the past can be cleaned up...

Gilmour seems to be a quite difficult person. I think its outrageous how he owns Pink Floyd. Syd and Roger started the band, Syd named them, and Roger wrote four of the greatest albums of all time. David made invaluable contributions, but was ultimately along for the ride. His solo songwriting isn’t great. His 1978 solo album showed he needs a collaborator

Somewhere on my hard drive, I have a picture of him as young. Believe me. He looks better now and I actually think he looks fine regardless of anything because he's the Roger Waters! A very important part of Pink Floyd and with impressive work after that. Sad that David is such a primadonna. When Roger left the band, he left with its teeth. I think David knows that and is somewhat envious.

it is sad...at least its one sided... Pink Floyd moved on until Rick Wright's passing...as a fan, Rogers leaving was sad at first, till reading of all the strife that left and stayed with him. the rest just changed the channel and moved on. why look back now, nothing there to see that would make anyones life more enjoyable. Roger has his career, i wish him luck, no need to go away mad, just go away and get on with it. DSOTM will probably NEVER be eclipsed by any band ever... it was a musical miracle, probably never to be outdone...with Rick gone, a lot of the musical soul of the band is gone, and thats just that...hate that Pink Floyd is over, but happy to see Gilmour enjoying his family, doing his philanthropy, always talking in a respectable and polite manner, Nick enjoying his racing/collecting, and 'the band' still getting together and just playing for fun at times... life is good for all, including Roger, but my guess is regret has him trying to leave a better legacy, thats a deep hole to dig out of.

To the remaining members of The Pink Floyd and to all humankind:
It’s indeed unfortunate that the situation has had to escalate thus - regardless of the reasons and their justifications or otherwise, none of which change the final outcome.
The only outcome is one where we all lose. Firstly, we the fans, who would dearly love to re-live some of the magic that you have all demonstrated continues to live within you. Secondly, the band has always acknowledged that its greatness stems from being more than the sum of its parts. Nothing has changed in that regard. One cannot help but feel that there is still some magic left untapped; who knows, with all of that musical and life experience combined, what great things could have come from some kind of future collaboration. It seems to be one of those things that we’ll never get to know.
“If only”... is probably all we will ever have left of that dream. There are quite literally tens of millions of fans who share this melancholic feeling of “what could have been”.
Such a tragic waste of opportunities and possibilities. That’s the price we have to pay as humans, whenever our foibles and pride are able to shout down our better angels within. We are all guilty of that at some time in our lives. For most of us though, the impacts thereby generated are rarely felt so widely and so globally.
Godspeed to you Pink Floyd - especially to its members both past and present. Regardless of the legalities of ownership or contracts and of any possessory rights, you will always be The Pink Floyd to us.

@@jamessilgram3894 I mean, I'm in argreeance with this. I'm sure there were probably selfish motives on both sides in the beginning, but I think the real point here is literally as said, he was a member and the group is no longer active, nor will probably ever be again anymore than what Mr. Waters does already himself. I've been a fan of Floyd since I was 5, own all the albums and enjoy pretty much the vast majority on any given day of the week. I always found the Gilmour albums weak, though The Division Bell does have its moments. It's what those five, but primarily four, guys did that I've always been the most invested in. At their prime, there was none like them, and still isn't today. It should all be celebrated and the legacy of all surviving members moving forward, not just who we're told to agree with cause of the name. Alot of the work and concepts we grew to love wouldn't have been what it was without Rogers's approach, and he deserves to be able to carry that banter no more than the rest. Politics and egos are an ugly game, and it has no place in art in my book. It's no different then the rift between Gabriel and Genesis. Genesis would have been nobody without the work of the Gabriel years and it should be recognized for the love and enjoyment we've had from it throughout the years. And I've no doubt Floyd has more juice in it for the next hand full of generations. I'd love to see everyone get along again, but sadly, when money's involved, eventually the joy of the art gets lost and that's a damn shame, cause Floyd made a lot of captivating and thought provoking stuff throughout their time together, nevermind the millions they inspired that will never reach even half the dedication and thought they achieved back in the day. Not everyone's cut out for a Dark Side of the Moon or a Meddle, but they achieved it. Boys with their toys as they would say. Floyd loved their toys and it showed. Back when music was really about music. Thank you for the body of work you and the other members left us with. I'll be listening till my last breath and if I had kids, they would be too. But it is time to leave politics where it belongs, with the politicians, not the entertainment industry. Give back creative control and corporate go back to just enjoying the benefits of doing nothing, but everybody wants their hand in the cookie jar. Nobodies playing mother and slapping some hands saying you're spoiling your dinner.

Everything you just said makes literally no sense to me. Why would you ever have to or would sell something you created? Like McCartney selling the Beatles songs to Michael Jackson. No individual band member IS Pink Floyd. Don’t ever think that Pink Floyd’s success was due solely to Roger or solely to David, because it wasn’t. In the end, they all came together to create something greater than the sum of their parts.
Pink Floyd wouldn’t have been the emotional powerhouse that it was without Roger’s lyrics. He is a truly one of the great poets of the 20th century, on par with John Lennon. But this band would never have become renowned as one of the greatest rock bands of all time without nothing David’s skill and mastery of the guitar; he is considered one of the greatest players ever.
But there was more to Pink Floyd than just Roger and David. Rick created ethereal, otherworldly soundscapes on the keys, and he responsible for the signature Pink Floyd “sound” that we all know. And Nick wasn’t a fast paced, clamorous drummer, but just like Ringo, he had “feel” and knew how to back the music, which is essentially to a band that explores human emotion.
And of course, Syd, the piper himself. His time in the band was short, but his presence never truly left the band, and his ghost can be felt all throughout Pink Floyd’s discography. He was person full of raw, creative energy.
There’s really no point in having Roger’s influence on the website anyway. He’s already made his mark on the music world and everyone already knows about his work. No one is questioning his career, even if it isn’t documented on the website.

@AJ Isca Most people care about music and the sound of the vocals more than they do about lyrics. The other members of PF are highly gifted musicians. Syd Barrett, Rick Wright, Nick Mason, and David Gilmour are the ones who developed the Pink Floyd sound, Roger Waters was just a guy who was hanging around who could barely play bass. No one considers Roger Waters to be a great bass player, but the others are considered great at their instruments, he was the weakest link. Rick Wright and David Gilmour are the most responsible for propelling them as far as they got. The key to pf was the dreamlike, spacey keyboard and guitar parts. Roger Waters was just a negative energy in the band that caused a lot of tension. He was the Yoko of the band. It's not that the other members have disagreements, no, similar to how his ex wife feels, the other members of PF absolutely hate Roger Waters, he brings hate out of people. Syd Barrett hated him, as does David Gilmour and Rick Wright did too. Only Nick Mason has somewhat mended fences with Roger, and isn't documented as actually hating him currently. Remember, Nick said he thought Roger was joking about making a guest appearance at his show, implying that Roger is typically a self-centered jerk. We know why Roger Waters did that one Nick Mason appearance, all so he could feel like he's not 100 percent alienated from Pink Floyd, but genuinely, he is. They try not to even mention Roger Waters on the official Pink Floyd website, he's not remembered fondly by his bandmates or anyone else, so now he's just an old tosser who is desperate to remain relevant to the far left and the far right antisemites, because no one else cares.

While it would have been nice if the official PF site had acknowledged Roger's recent post with a, "Here's a lovely version of Mother by our old friend, Roger Waters," sadly this wasn't to be. Pink Floyd will always be a shimmering light in a lot of our lives, but it's been clear who owns the band and the franchise for decades now. We look to Gilmour for any snippets of new PF material, and I think we all know he's largely been done with it post the last full studio album. It's tough for fans: Roger is arguably one of the more talented song writers Britain has produced, and Dave's guitar work strides like a colossus through rock's history, and we love them both. Collectively PF have produced some of the most creative pieces of musical artistry the music industry has ever seen, and perhaps that passion from such imaginative and intelligent people, brings us here, at an impasse over expression.

"David thinks he owns it because I left the band"
Yeah Roger, that's kind of how it works.
From wikipedia "Roger went to the High Court in an effort to dissolve the band and prevent the use of the Pink Floyd name, declaring Pink Floyd "a spent force creatively".[187]
When Waters' lawyers discovered that the partnership had never been formally confirmed, Waters returned to the High Court in an attempt to obtain a veto over further use of the band's name. Gilmour responded with a press release affirming that Pink Floyd would continue to exist.[188] The sides reached an out-of-court agreement, finalised on Gilmour’s houseboat the Astoria on Christmas Eve 1987.[189] In 2013, Waters said he regretted the lawsuit and had failed to appreciate that the Pink Floyd name had commercial value independent of the band members"
Roger, your ego did this to you, not David. You just want in on that Pink Floyd merch money. Isn't royalties enough?
You left, called them a spent force and they carried on. Now you want back in for monetary purposes. Roger, you're a legend of a song writer but a lesson to the future genius lyricists that controlling ones ego is the most important thing in life.

From a legal standpoint, then yes that is correct. George Roger Waters is no longer a part of the band and as such cannot use Pink Floyd as a sharing tool. However, as he said in the video, we are all entitled to our opinions, and I personally do agree with Roger that the Pink Floyd should display the side projects of all the three surviving members. In saying that though, Roger’s own page still has many followers and he’s still the richest Pink Floyd member, I don’t see why it’s THAT much of an issue for him.

I don't think it's really so much about merch money as it is the fact the PF website reaches WAY MORE people than Roger's own website does, depriving Roger of the chance to promote his latest solo projects, political pontifications etc. Like you said, Roger lost the court case as far as the PF name is concerned, so that's history. At that time, I'm sure it was easy for the guy (Roger) to want to get rid of the PF name because of the legal problems it was causing, but I'm sure the others (Nick and Dave, Rick later) felt that was easy for the guy (Roger) with the overwhelming majority of the writing credits to say. He didn't need the name to make a living; they did. Had Syd Barrett not been in the mental state he was in, by rights, HE would have been the only one who could say what could or could not be done with the Pink Floyd name since he created it.

From Syd Barrett to Richard Wright and even Claire Torrey and when he asked Alan Parsons to return he turned you down flat because of how he was treated after the amazing work he did for Dark Side of the Moon... the lesson here Roger Waters isn't learning is that if you want people to treat you with respect, you have to treat them with a little human decency and fairness. Sad to see even into his 70s he still hasn't learned it. No humility, no accountability. No understanding. No personal responsibility... just more victim mentality and whining about others.

So you can imagine what dealing with him over band issues is like...he starts by saying "hey we're a band right ?" and then by the time the discussion is ending he's getting the larger amount of the payday and YOU are the one who's at fault for the band's disagreements !! This guy's just simply a total asshole even when you're agreeing with him ! Pink Floyd has never been a constant. David arrived, Syd left. There were some glory years of absolute music perfection, and you left Roger. When you left, so did the true creative diversity. The guitar, drumming and keyboard genius remained which kept the band going and after MLOR, started to lose the creative genius that it had sounding very similar to Gilmours solo style (with a couple of exceptions). In the meantime you have written simply some of the best albums I have ever heard in my life. Your fans know who you are and the part you have played in the skill and talent of what is left of Pink Floyd. I mean this very earnestly, Roger -- why do you guys have a conundrum with each other? Both of you are great men -- soulful, intelligent, mature and believe in the power of music. Music can help to accelerate our awakening to life, make us kinder, make us wiser.
You have differences -- but the truth is, the world has gotten so crazy and to see two men who deserve to feel that they are brothers settle for an "amicable" neutrality is a little sad.
I don't know what the personal differences are and it's not my business.
...When I think about musicians and their legacies, I always remember Leonard Cohen, and the tiff he had with his manager, who ended up taking all of his money while he was a Zen Monk in the California mountains. He said, even after she had basically spent all of his money, and he would never see it again, "Well, you know, I still like her!"
So...I don't know. We love both you and David Gilmour and I personally am grateful for what your music has done for humanity.

I really don't think it's about money at all, it's ego. Obviously, Roger was extremely significant to PF, and PF would never have happened without him, or at least not in the form that we all know and love. But after he left the band, PF continued on without him, just as it continued on without Syd. When Roger was paid in the settlement of the law-suit that he initiated, he gave up the rights to the PF name. Roger actually has more money than Gilmour and the rest because of the financial settlement. None of them need the money, they are all multi-millionaires many many times over. It's not about the money. I understand Roger's feelings that he should be on the website because he was a huge part of Pink, but he gave up that legal right. I understand David's feelings as well. In the past, Roger had made a derogatory statement, or pulled David's Wife Polly into the arguments or rift between the two. I feel that is something that David can't or won't let go. I also believe, although it is never mentioned, that David was extremely hurt personally when Roger left. Imagine if your bandmate, and friend left, and then turned around and sued you and tried to prevent you from playing under your band's name. Of course David was angry. Roger was wrong and has admitted so, which I admire Roger for doing. I don't think that mentioning Polly in this circumstance will help in his goal of being put on the official PF site. It is unfortunate that this impasse still remains, but it will probably remain until one or both of them are dead. I love both Roger and David and like a child in a divorce it is painful to watch the continuing rift between the two, but I fear it will continue. And like that child I try not to choose sides between the two. I appreciate what Roger and David have both given us. They should both just completely let it go, and enjoy the fantastic lives that they have with their money, children, grandchildren, music, and charities. My god, what I could do with a few hundred million dollars, but I digress. But unfortunately, I believe that they both have let it go, as much as they are capable of doing so.

Hello Roger, I love what you do, and I am sorry about this video. Please read this, as I listened to all your video. I am myself a musician, though not famous at all. You are lucky. You have the chance to play music with anyone you want, you have international fame, everyone knows you were one of the main creators in Pink Floyd until 1985. You said it yourself though, you quit the band in 1985 (and it didn't go smoothly). So no, you are not part of "The Pink Floyd" anymore, but that should be ok, why do you care ? You are well recognized for your great artistic contribution world-widely anyway (including for Pink Floyd), I really believe you would gain at letting it go. I would find more appropriate if you were to say "I regret that I left Pink Floyd"if that's the case, rather than pretending you should legitimately still be a part of it. That would be the higher road, the loving road. Maybe that's hard to hear from a non-famous person like me, but during your shows you give really great speeches about loving one another, so hear it from yourself and apply it. All this is history, leave it there, be Great ! I understand though that you may be sad, and I feel you. Love, Rémi

Seems to me that ol' Roger hasn't really learnt a damn thing in over 30yrs since he left the band and can't see the elephant in the room is actually himself. His ego and his arrogance really haven't softened at all. Perhaps he should muse on the fact that PF lasted 20yrs with him yet over 30 further years without him....When you have 2 strong willed personalities within the band its inevitable there will be a fall out. But when one looks more closely at all the stuff that happened in the band and out of it, its not difficult to see the one having a hard time coming to terms with things and accepting responsibility of why the band broke up is Roger. I've never seen any videos put out by any of the other band members slagging off the others in the way that Roger does and its really sad that even after their momentary reunion in the park that wonderful day, Roger still doesn't get it. We all hoped he would, but he just doesn't.

You guys are ridiculous. Roger has made many efforts to reconcile in recent years and he's even had Gilmour on stage for one of his performances of Comfortably Numb during the Wall tour. David is clearly still showing contempt for him by excluding him from Pink Floyd's website, the band that HE piloted into stardom.

Waters is no different. just because he's more vocal doesn't mean he's right, and just because you want forgiveness doesn't mean you're entitled to it. And even if he is forgiven, it doesn't mean they have to go back for more.

I love Roger, he is a living legend, but he has some wrong ideas about life in general. He was the one who sued his old bandmates back in the 80's, the whole trial thing was because of him. If the Pink Floyd official page doesn't promote Roger's work, it's because legally, he hasnt been part of the band for 35 years already, not because Dave Gilmour is an asshole or something.
I don't even understand why this is still relevant. Roger has made a name on it's own. I went to see him live in 2018 and the show was amazing. He performs mostly Pink Floyd songs, so I guess he has to pay a lot of royalties but still, he makes thousands of dollars with his tours.

he doesn't have to pay royalties because he never gave up his rights to the music he wrote. Gilmour can't put out a greatest hits album with older Floyd on it without Roger's ok to this day.

I don't know if "getting the band back together" is ever gonna be a thing, but you all should hopefully one day share in the parts each of you contributed to making Pink Floyd great, and sharing that between each of you. I think sharing a website, sharing each persons accomplishments, would be a great way for fans to find every piece of magic that was. is and will always be embodiment of Pink Floyd, and what has grown from it. Sadly the human condition is always what gets in the way of humanity being it's best. I thank every member of the band for making music that made some of these days of mine better for hearing you.
