Lyrics: Almosttown
Cold stone beneath my feet
Wrapped in furs and dressing gown
November night caressed my face
The only fond touch I allow
Moonlight floods my bedroom through the window where I gaze
From far above the mad and merry crowd
Candlelight and laughter warms their windows, crease their faces
Around the bonfire in the square, the songs of all their ages
They’re the lost and broken, I’m their keeper in the keep
But they sing words that I can’t bear to speak aloud
They sing of love, they sing of regret
Time doesn’t wait for the dead
They sing of hope, they sing of fears
They sing of friends they lost to years
So don’t wait until your life is over
Say your piece now
Or join the lost souls in my Almosttown
Now I spend eternity with songs I never wrote
Peace in isolation, in the fortress I call home
Perched in a stone gesture looming lonely in the sky
Musing on those endless might-have-beens
While they sing of love, they sing of regret
Time doesn’t wait for the dead
They sing of hope, they sing of fears
They sing of friends they lost to years
So keep your dream alive
Never bend or bow
Or you’ll join the lost souls in my Almosttown
Did I choose the wrong fate?
Will I ever know?
Realising too late
Don’t know where to go
All those years spent dreaming, fighting
Never knowing why I can’t deny what I have always been
They sing of love, they sing of regret
Time doesn’t wait for the dead
They sing of hope, they sing of fears
They sing of friends they lost to years
So keep your dream alive
Never bend or bow
Or you’ll join the lost souls in my Almosttown

If I'm not mistaken, this was filmed at the Hammond Castle Museum in Glouchester, MA. Recognized it immediately from the archways - such a beautiful place to visit!
I've met them twice and each time they were all very humble. They even do outreach to the fans and do their own social media. I also saw Adrienne play, and warm up with, Eluviette for the very first time as well. Also I love the bass in their music, the bassist is a real artist.
Me during the song: "What a peaceful track. But interesting if vocals can be also more harsh". - Harsh vocal part enters scene. "Ok, i have no more questions". Nice knowing that symphonic-metal is not goin' anywhere to other universe.
Good introduction to this band for me. I'm going to explore their albums today. Cheers, gentlemen.
You won’t regret
Definitely check them out. This is a more "poppy" song from them. A lot of their songs are heavier and Addrien uses the harsher vocals more. They're amazing live.
Love this band so much. Stoked to see them in April in Quebec with Ad Infinitum and Kamelot. What a lineup!
they are so great and I don't understand why they are not huge yet. outstanding songs, outstanding musicians, outstanding videos...
Two guesses:
1) US location is not huge for Symphonic metal or Power metal so they rarely tour areas popular for this music. They are only on their second Euro tour ever, and both times as a support band at smaller venues.
2) They don't tour much period. This is because the band members have other projects they work on and Adrienne is out touring with Avantasia/Master's of Cermeony. In 2022/2023 they only did tours in 1 season each year and the rest of the year was spent on other things. They have also never toured in Central/South America which is a huge chunk of metal bands' fanbase, often as big as Europe.
Hopefully in the future, they can focus on touring more as Spires throughout the year and in places they have not gone..
They are going to Japan at the end of this year. But I do agree, they're amazing live and need to do some headlining shows. Opening act set times don't allow them to show everything they can do.
i guess also it might be hard to have people appreciate both the power/symphonic kamelot style AND cradle of filth. I love their blackened influences, but i'd say that might make them less accessible to a wider public. Anyway, i think and hope they're going to be more and more successful, i agree with you they should be already.
@@XwoooahX Since Chris left to do Testament full-time, they could probably get a new drummer that's 100% committed if they wanna make Spires a higher priority
Very excited to hear more from them, this is a fantastic song.
As far as recommendations go, check out Miracle of Sound's new Elden Ring song "Purest Gold" with Elizabeth from The Charismatic Voice on lead vocals. She absolutely slays this almost 8 minute monsteer of a symphonic metal song.
Nice song. A few weeks ago I came across a new vid/song vom Furor Gallico - Call of the Wind which I can highly reccomend to react to btw :)
Seven Spires "The Old Hurt of Being Left Behind'is a nice track too \m/
New England has some under rated architecture
Dudes. Check out Moonlight Sorcery. Tampere, Finland 🤘🏻
