Well he does impressions now, which is a good way to land mediocre jokes. Funny voices! He's hacky, and just another guy with a perspective nobody cares about. There's like 1500 versions of this guy trying to make it in comedy right now, and he's in the bottom half (gay joke). He seems comfortable on stage, so he's probably done a lot of work. Thing is, so have thousands of other comics. His tour is like 8 dates a month, which is pretty good, but if you politically pigeon-hole yourself, that only limits where you'll be performing and what kind of audience you'll get. He's creating his own self-sustaining victim-complex.
Starting to think he may have been doted upon by parents who always assured him he was the best and "hilarious!" You might think this kind of coddling is sweet and affectionate, but it's actually unassailably cruel. I can see why he hates his dads so much.

He's complaining about being straight the same exact way that most gay kids feel pressured to try to be straight as teenagers. Except it sounds like his dads were accepting of his straightness, which is kind of a major hurdle for gay kids when their straight parents aren't accepting.

I'm a straight white filmmaker. I think what's going on here is that Tyler Fischer, like me, has chosen a career path in which .1% of people "make it." You have to accept those odds when you go into it, but this guy clearly never did. The truth is there are thousands of super talented people of every race in this industry who never get recognized. It's just that competitive. It's easy to just go "well they don't want me because I'm white" instead of "it's too competitive" or even "I'm not talented enough." Remember that the thing this guy is upset about is that he didn't get to be a famous comedian.
100% - I’m in a similar boat but for music. After college when I was deciding between pursuing what I love or getting into a regular 9-5 life/career track, I basically sat myself down and was like “OK man, we can do this, but the overwhelmingly most likely outcome is that we’re never gonna stop grinding just to get by, and still have to get well-acquainted with Top Ramen.”
Even if you do every single thing right, attaining a level of success in an arts-related industry where you can coast and/or thrive mostly depends on luck. (A privileged spawn point is a huge leg-up, but in that case you can treat the art as a vanity project while you actually just coast on generational wealth.)

Tyler Fischer is the living, walking Dorian Gray-style portrait of Zach Galigianakis. He is the antithesis of his humour, and were they in the same room, it would not be a pretty sight.
