It even goes beyond christianity. In the Indian chakra system, seven is the crown chakra, meaning while 1-6 are about modes of our body, 7 is the gateway to the heavenly realms, the white light where the color frequencies of the other six chakras mix. We can deduct from that that true wholeness of being is not a mere collection of properties, but a harmonious merging/unity of them all. Only when we create a contrast to all of the material realm can we understand that realm properly.

And even if we consider God being beyond time and thus Jesus always having been in some way, I don't understand why you call him the creator of everything, and not God.
I was in Catholic school for 12 years and this is the first time anyone has ever broken down this prayer and told me the true meaning behind it. I never understood what "hallow be they name meant" until now.
Hi, I have been going crazy over how God's works often have numerical relations this past day, and I was focused on the number 12 [and 7]. I remember learning that it represents coming into full completion, just like the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 disciples, the lady who bled for 12 years being healed by Jesus at the time when He raised the 12-year-old girl from death... and just popped into my brain the fact that a full year takes 12 months. What a great video 🙌 with simple, but yet powerful description of this central message of the gospel ❤ I would like to add subtitles in Portuguese to this and others videos, so people who doesn't understand English can also receive this message. Is it possible?
Edit-thanks for fixing the description. I love watching these and can’t wait till you get further along. Think you might put the entire series together, of all these type of exegetical examination? [Original Post made on day video was released] Love you guys, but you uploaded the wrong video. This is your Lord’s Prayer deep dive. Or, it’s the wrong title and description. ❤
Not my church just getting into a sermon series on The Lord's Prayer these past couple of weeks AND Bibleproject doing a vid about it! We just got to the section of the Heidelberg Catechism on it, this past Sunday's Afternoon Service was on the first petition, hallowed be Thy Name, and what it really means.
I used to be christian, then I deconstructed my beliefs and became atheist. Now, after furthers studies, I am back as a spiritual being, but I still have my doubts in christianity. I would like to know how you visualize God. Is God a sentient being, does God make decisions, do you see God as an external being from you? I personally feel God is simply what unites us all, consciousness.
We are happy you are here! That's a great question. I really love that definition of "temptation"; a test meant to reveal the truth. Phrases like "don't tempt me with that cupcake!" have transformed the word 'temptation' into something a little less meaningful and into something sort of silly. It's hard to describe, but it's kind of like how old cartoons have successfully downplayed the truly terrifying horror of evil moustached men in top hats who tie up innocent damsels and leave them to die on train tracks - if this had happened in real life, nobody would be happy to see it in a child's cartoon.
This is amazing. Thank you for uploading. May I ask which version of the Bible was used. I have never seen the first line phrased : "Our father, who is in the skies"

Matthew 5:7 The our Father
Edit-thanks for fixing the description. I love watching these and can’t wait till you get further along. Think you might put the entire series together, of all these type of exegetical examination? [Original Post made on day video was released] Love you guys, but you uploaded the wrong video. This is your Lord’s Prayer deep dive. Or, it’s the wrong title and description. ❤
Did you watch the whole video? The break down starts around 01:00
The Sermon on the Mount has the Lord’s Prayer as part of it. 😊
Amen.

Here are a few resources from our library that explore this topic further:

I really love that definition of "temptation"; a test meant to reveal the truth. Phrases like "don't tempt me with that cupcake!" have transformed the word 'temptation' into something a little less meaningful and into something sort of silly. It's hard to describe, but it's kind of like how old cartoons have successfully downplayed the truly terrifying horror of evil moustached men in top hats who tie up innocent damsels and leave them to die on train tracks - if this had happened in real life, nobody would be happy to see it in a child's cartoon.
outstanding!
Thank you!
Very well done.
Thank you for your kind words! We appreciate you and your encouragement today.
This is amazing. Thank you for uploading. May I ask which version of the Bible was used. I have never seen the first line phrased : "Our father, who is in the skies"
Thanks for reaching out!
In a recent Q+R podcast episode for the Sermon on the Mount series, Tim and Jon discuss the BibleProject scholar team's translation for Matthew 5-7, particularly why the “kingdom of heaven" is translated as "kingdom of the skies.” I think you'll enjoy the conversation!
Why Say “Kingdom of the Skies” Instead of “Kingdom of Heaven”? podcast episode (starting at 46:19) bibleproject.com/podcast/why-say-kingdom-skies-instead-kingdom-heaven/
If you're curious about the scholar team’s translation in general, they began by translating the original Greek text for Matthew 5-7 and comparing it to how other trustworthy biblical translation teams parse those same words and phrases.
Their translation aims to preserve the literary design when identical words and repeated phrases appear in the Greek text by making them repeat similarly in English, no matter how often a word or phrase is used. They also try to use words and phrases that convey the same meaning but give new vitality to passages that have become overly familiarized. Some words may sound strange, but these translation choices are a more literal rendering of the Greek text into English.
I hope this helps!
