Though 13 is usually referred to as a number of bad luck, when it comes to the K-pop industry, it's 7 that the scariest number of them all.
Since K-pop groups often disband after the seven-year-contract, 7 is called the deadly number by K-pop fans. Somehow, girl groups are more likely to fall victim to this curse and ended their careers in disbandment.

I think they’re getting pretty well promoted as soloists as well as their group, and because they’ve had a close bond since middle school (for wheein and hwasa), I don’t think they’ll leave each other. Leaving the company, however, may be a different story.

When did Girls' Generation even disband!!?? SM even confirmed it that the three members (Sooyoung,Tiffany,Seohyun) are still part of Girls' Generation and they haven't disbanded yet. Even Sooyoung said its possible for Girls' Generation to make a comeback as a full group.🙄🙄🥰 (The girls are just on a hiatus and are doing solo activities right now).

Yeah but look at it. 3 members right, no matter how successful SNSD is they can't survive with only 3 members, even the fact that members of the group are still slowly leaving is a reason they will surely disband, not to mention SM forgot all about them, so again theres no chance of them really being active again.

Every female in a girl group at a certain point, sooner rather than later will want to focus on their solo activities, that is just normal and this will happen to all of the girl groups, no exception because solo activities is what ensures the longevity of an artist.

yeah, but SNSD did not fall into the 7 year curse. They didn’t disband, they just became less popular after Jessica left. By less popular I mean that they were still hella popular, but they did lose a good chunk of there fandom due to the controversy (also Jessica was arguably one of the most popular members and many sided with her). There 2nd subunit Oh!GG debuted in 2018, which makes them 11 years active, not 7. As for not resigning, I’m actually all for it. Especially Taeyeon. I feel she needs to just go on hiatus and just relax. Same with Yoona.

For girl groups, Apink is one the kpop groups I know who didn't disband after 7 years
For boy groups, BTOB renewed their contract but is currently on hiatus since 3 of their 7 members just got enlisted in the army this year but I'm pretty sure they'll make a grand comeback in 2022 😁
Apink, Still the longest running kpop girl group who releases songs and get #1 on all major music charts. This is the reason of their hardwork on this industry. Thanks to their leader Park Chorong who manage to continue their contract. The line " believe me, let's renew our contract", The one who is responsible as a leader. When its 2023 and they decide to re sign their contract they most likely will not be the first or only girl group to do so. Gfriend, twice, oh my girl, april, clc and dia who debut in 2015 might do it before them
Didn’t Sistar disbanded because the 4 of them wants to pursue their solo careers? As you can see they are the only girl group to end their group career with an album and a medley of their summer hits.
