Awww, you are so sweet Cara!🤗🤗. Yes, it really was a haven for us and you are right, we were extremely blessed to have lived there during the pandemic. We were so lucky to be in Granada at the time that everything went pear shaped. Interesting guess, you would definitely get the sale for that range!
@@JohnandCaraRetiredTravellers 🤣🤣 Since we shot that video (back in early March!) we have been to Ometepe Island, the pacific beaches of Nicaragua and now we are up in the mountains! Not sure where will be next month!
Kudos to the owners of that beautiful home. If they don't live there, how much more gorgeous must their primary residence be? And how hard of a decision it must have been for them to decide to sell this home?
You guys should receive a trophy for promoting tourism and investment in Nicaragua, i'm glad that you guys could live the real Nicaraguan atmosphere and realized that this country is not what some sensationalist international media says about us, i didn't expect to see you crying Jon, that was very touching and deep, i didn't expect either, that you would say goodbye to that beautiful house, when you guys said that you were heading up north, i thought that those were just vacations inside the vacation, and you will come back to Granada in the future... By the way, 10:34 i also asked for that video, i thought that you were going to say my username hahaha, but it's ok. Oh, i forgot to tell you that you should also visit Ciudad Antigua on Nueva Segovia department, i've never been there, but it's kind of the third colonial town of the country, it's a very small place with beautiful colonial houses, if i had enough money i would visit the entire Segovia region, with all the little towns included, there're any beach or so, but i love the pacific little northern towns atmosphere. I watched the two ads to support you guys, i'm glad to see that local companies are promoting their products on your channel. I think that the price of that house is $100,000. Am i right?
Awww, thanks Jango!🤗🤗 You know we think Nicaragua is deacachimba! 🤙 We did want to use Casa Agualuna as a base and do small trips around, however it was just too costly to do for us, so we had to let it go. I'm the emotional one in the couple, Jay is the ice queen!😜 . Regarding the packing video idea, yes you certainly gave that as well, however not before we had filmed this back in late February! You know we would call out one of our super fans if the chance arose! Thanks for the tip about Ciudad Antigua, we'll look into it!! We have just arrived into Matagalpa and loving the change in scenery! Thanks for watching the ads for us as well!! P.S. I think you might get outbid pretty quickly with that offer!
Hi BLT,that house is paradise and I truly understand and would feel like Jon,but I am sure there is going to be a nice house for you both! Its been a hard and emotional year for all of us ,but life goes on .Thankyou very much!!! Ohh BTW,that flower's name is complicated!!!
Hey Henry, yes it was an emotional year for everyone and life certainly goes on! I've come to terms with leaving now!! We are just grateful we had the opportunity to stay there when we did. It is a sacuanjoche! My Nicaraguense friend couldn't pronounce frangipani, so equally hard in english!
@@BucketListTravellers Hi BLT,you are going to find a new great place to stay,I truly wish you both all the bestand safe travels. This is my favorite channel in UA-cam,really enjoy watching it.Cheers!!
A great video and an absolutely spectacular house! I didn't realise at first that you had it all to yourselves! I'm so surprised though that no-one else has asked how much rent is per month... it must be my frugal mind that immediately jumps to costs 😁😂 So lovely to see where you shot your first video and to hear how much you've both grown! I also love that you were so reassured by the bidet 😃😁 A great video - thank you for sharing!
Thanks guys! This house was an amazing retreat for us and helped keep us sane when we locked ourselves down due to covid. Nicaragua is the perfect country for frugal travel and despite how this house looks we count ourselves as frugal travellers as well! Our landlords didn't want us to disclose specific financials but in our first year living in Nicaragua our total spend on EVERYTHING was US$17K.
Hi... I'm the owner of that house.. so happy to have had Jon and Jay as our tenants.. for your info it's rented right now at 1400 US a month + electricity but it's listed on Airbnb too for short time rental
All good things must come to an end! It was either a tough choice of stay there before we leave the country or see more of the country, we chose the latter and have not looked back... too often!😜
You guys are amazing, going through your trials and tribulations, but putting others ahead of yourselves for the home. I have faith that you will both be driven in a positive direction and be blessed in so many ways. I have enjoyed all your videos and I hope you all continue showing your amazing adventures, From Chad & Marcela ... p.s about $200-250K ?
Thank you so much for your kind words Chad and Marcela!🙏🙏 Thank you also for supporting our channel, that means a lot to us to hear that you have enjoyed them! Interesting bids there, Casa Agualuna would be an absolute steal for $200k!!
@@vivianedevairedepasse4868 awwwww I wish we were in the market. My wife is from Leon Nicaragua and who knows where our lives might go in a few years after I retire from my current job. You do have an amazingly beautiful home though.
Hi Salvador, yes this place would be perfect as a base. I believe it is currently rented out at US$1400 a month, but you should contact Granada Property Services (G.P.S.) to be sure. Their website is here:gpsnicaragua.com/
Electricity for us was around $US50 a month, however that was very low for this property. We were very careful with the usage as electricity costs in Nicaragua are very high and didn't use air conditioning. We had a couple of blackouts in the year, one during a hurricane (understandable!) and one on our last night there funnily enough! Wifi was slower than what we would have liked at 5mbps and cut out semi regularly, however that was probably just the provider and plan we were on. We have had much better wifi in other towns. Mosquitos are a nuisance in the wet season, but were ok in dry season. We had regular fumigation as well, which helped.
Omg😳that was a beautiful home where you both stayed for a year! The especular views were just wow wow! You both would have felt like rich people what a privilege to had stayed there! I can🤩see both got emotional and Joh cried Oh my goddess! I can see both have fallen in love❤️with Nicaragua already! Jay loved your comment “You just can’t get anything like this anywhere in the world”. I’ll take a guess at the hotels price I’ll say maybe at least half a million dollars or more. Please let us know in the next video the value of the colonial hotel. Saludos
Hi Michelle, yes we felt very privileged to have stayed there and it was very fancy for what we usually have as an accommodation option. I am the emotional one in the family and I'm sure it won't be the last time I cry on camera! I don't know what I am going to be like when we finally leave Nicaragua. 😭😭😭. We will definitely let you know what price the house eventually sells for, but for now I can only say that it is likely to go for less than $500K. In our home city of Sydney, you would pay $3mill or more for that!
@@BucketListTravellers Yes, Sydney has become way over priced it’s just too expensive now and we are paying ridiculous fir what we pay for. Definitely with $3 million AUD you can get 5 colonial hotels in Nicaragua🇳🇮
@@michellea5415 Exactly!! I'm sorry I forgot you lived in Sydney, my example then was a very relevant one then! For what we paid a month in Casa Agualuna we wouldn't be able to get a 1 bedroom studio in Penrith for!
What an amazing home! It blows my mind that houses are so open to the outdoors because it's always hot. Jon, you get me welling up at the end. Sad that you must go, but life goes on. It's been a year now, so how much does a home like that go for in Granada? My guess is $750,000 USD.
Yeah it is such an awesome idea and works so well in the Nicaragua environment, especially with a pool in the middle! It was pretty emotional to leave, given that it had been a big part of our lives for a year, but as you say life goes on and there was a lot more to see of Nicaragua. The house did sell a month or two after we left and we think it sound for around US$300,000, much less than we thought. There isn't a deep market for big houses in NIcaragua, so you need to be prepared to have it on the market for potentially years before you can sell.
Hey guys, you should do a survey about how much is the house worth, don't let us with the doubt. And, what about your progress in spanish? I think that since the last year to nowadays you've learnt a lot of new things about the language.
Great idea! We've just posted the survey! Our spanish is functional, we can understand it in most situations, but still struggle a little with talking. We are considering going to a spanish school in Matagalpa this week!
Hi John, there are plenty of fantastic colonial homes in Granada like this that you will be able to rent for between US$1000- US$2000 a month. You will live like a tech billionaire for US$5000 a month here!
Hi Adil, thanks for watching! It was a question of whether we stay there or explore the rest of the country and so we decided it was best to see more of the country before we had to leave. The house ended up selling for less than US$300K after we left.
The more I watch you two the more I fall in love with you. I can tell you love each other and you’re spending quality time together in a grand adventure. What you have is so special. I would love to buy a house exactly like that in Granada. I think it’s worth maybe $500,000 USD. Am I right????? I’m so curious…….. someone please tell me the price.
Love your logic! For us it was a choice of staying in comfort and slight boredom or leaving to experience more of Nicaragua before we have to leave the country.
Hi Jennifer, we don't have the owners details of the property as it has since been sold but still available for rental. You can contact Vanessa at gpsnicaragua.com/ and she would be happy to help out.
what about the historically neglected, and very interesting east coast ...especially the northeast along the rio coco . These are not too touristy like Blue fields and corn islands . there are at least 5 different indigenous groups . one might not realize it's Nica. I have not seen any videos about the coast . Hmmmmmmm
Hi Susan, that would be really fascinating to explore and our only regret was that we never travelled to this part of Nicaragua. It is definitely on our to do list for next time! Have you been to this area?
Hi Rick, thanks for the feedback we appreciate it. We've since purchased microphones, so hopefully our audio will be better moving forwards. Thanks for watching.
Cartels are involved in property to money laundry in Nicaragua it's one of many ways these days. It's an absolute joke buying houses for these prices in a country where you'd pay 300k to buy a house but you could probably rent it for 500 per month so if you want to make your money back when your sick of it you just have to find a bigger sucker! Usd 300k is Australia, Europe, USA house prices where you can get good rental in return also better infracstructure and less crime. Things always look good on video I'd suggest you go live there for a year before you invest 300k as the USA is always making unstability there like in 2017 just saying pls do your duediligence
Hi Oscar, thanks for taking the time to write a comment. We agree with you that it makes sense to live here for a year before investing in a home in Nicaragua. The current rental for this property, as seen in other comments on this thread, is currently around $1300 a month. We do understand your point though about making sure you are getting sufficient rental returns and agree that you should always do your own due diligence.
Thanks for watching Apollomuscles. This building is less than 20 years old and the design generally was pretty awesome, especially the living area around the pool.
Hi Glen, we are flattered that you think we could be in real estate! We can assure you that we are not and won't get a cent when this property sells. We offered to do this video for Viviane because she was an awesome landlord and we loved this place dearly. This is a personal video for us and we are glad we have a record of our time here. Our channel about sharing our travel experiences, particularly of Nicaragua. For that matter the Nicaragua Tourism Board doesn't pay us either, but we won't say no to a sponsorship if they are reading this!!😜

Hi... no.. not $100,000 (I'm Viviane, the owner) even though prices went down in Nicaragua.. that is definitely not the price..
This was our question too!🙊
@@lostamonglocals5382 Great travel minds think alike 😀😁🤣
@@lostamonglocals5382 answer above
Millions !!!!😋
It was worth millions to us!!
unfortunately no... (I'm the owner)..
Amazing place you guys. So sorry you have to leave it!
All good things must come to an end! It was either a tough choice of stay there before we leave the country or see more of the country, we chose the latter and have not looked back... too often!😜
Son adictivos estos videos
¡Muchismas gracias por ver Jose!
Hi.. I'm Viviane..the owner.. $300,00 is more what we would consider but always open to discussion !
@@vivianedevairedepasse4868 awwwww I wish we were in the market. My wife is from Leon Nicaragua and who knows where our lives might go in a few years after I retire from my current job. You do have an amazingly beautiful home though.
@@ssgchadperron3008 thank you 😊
Hi ! what does a place like this cost for a short term lease for say a few months ? this would be a great home base so to speak when visiting !
Hi Salvador, yes this place would be perfect as a base. I believe it is currently rented out at US$1400 a month, but you should contact Granada Property Services (G.P.S.) to be sure. Their website is here:gpsnicaragua.com/
$280,000 US? How much is electricity? Does it fail much? Good wifi? Bugs in house as everything is wide open? Beautiful 🏠
@@BucketListTravellers
Yes, Sydney has become way over priced it’s just too expensive now and we are paying ridiculous fir what we pay for.
Hi Michelle.. I'm Viviane the owner of the house.. For your info, we would be happy to sell it for 300,00 US
What an amazing home!
What you guys didn’t realize is that house is 1/2 of the original house. The bedroom area is all new and built on the original backyard.
Wow, that must have been an absolutely massive home!
What would it cost to rent a similar home per month? Can I live that lifestyle on $5000 a month U.S.?
Hi John, there are plenty of fantastic colonial homes in Granada like this that you will be able to rent for between US$1000- US$2000 a month. You will live like a tech billionaire for US$5000 a month here!
Wonderful
I like to know how much you cell it?
Hi Mona, we believe the owners are looking for offers over $300K for it. Thanks for watching.
that house belonged to my aunt and was called la perla del norte
It was a wonderful home to us and beautifully constructed. We miss this place a lot. Thanks for watching.
How much does this home cost in US dollars? I'm in love!!!
Its wonderful isn't it!? Have a guess in our community post!
Hi.. US 300,000 would be our price right now..
I’m interested in this home, would I be able to get more info?
Hi Natalie, it is managed by GPS Nicaragua. Here is their website: gpsnicaragua.com/. Tell them Jay and Jon said hi!
why are u leaving if you love it so much? how much is the house?
Hi Adil, thanks for watching! It was a question of whether we stay there or explore the rest of the country and so we decided it was best to see more of the country before we had to leave. The house ended up selling for less than US$300K after we left.
How much were you renting it for? :)
It is currently renting out for $1400 a month but we were lucky enough to get it under $1000.
@@BucketListTravellers thank you for the reply and info. Under $1000 was a great deal! :) very beautiful.
@@beaulong3270 We were extremely lucky and it made surviving through the pandemic very bearable!
@@BucketListTravellers lol I bet!! You were living the dream in there! ;)
How much was your rent there?
Hi Fabiola, we were able to negotiate a very favourable rent, due to the circumstances in 2020, much lower than the current US$1400 a month.
I stayed here!!
Awesome! Did you enjoy it as much as we did?
💕👏👏👏
🙏🙏🙏😁
The more I watch you two the more I fall in love with you. I can tell you love each other and you’re spending quality time together in a grand adventure. What you have is so special. I would love to buy a house exactly like that in Granada. I think it’s worth maybe $500,000 USD. Am I right????? I’m so curious…….. someone please tell me the price.
Awww, thanks Jimmy!🤗🤗 This home did eventually sell last year. We are not sure how much for but it was for less than US$300K.
@@BucketListTravellers No way!!!! What a bargain!!!!!! That’s like a dream home for almost anyone.
@@ChicoVietBostonian Yes we thought it a bargain too!
Well don't leave. Stay
Love your logic! For us it was a choice of staying in comfort and slight boredom or leaving to experience more of Nicaragua before we have to leave the country.
Muchachos gracias por elegir NICARAGUA este es su país
Muchachos gracias por elegir NICARAGUA no se vallan
Can you put me in contact with the owner ? Looking for long term rental
Seran bien venidos a nicaragua
Muchisimas gracias Jose. 😃
Volume to low, video is fine.
Hi Rick, thanks for the feedback we appreciate it. We've since purchased microphones, so hopefully our audio will be better moving forwards. Thanks for watching.
I think they will be asking $500k US dollars....
They would love to get US$500k! The owner has commented further below and I believe they are looking for offers over $300k.
Nicarguans are losing our cultural and traditional houses. It is so sad .
Hi Aula Virtual, you might be happy to know that the house has just been bought by a Nicaraguan.
Colonial. Is often just old and Poot quality and design. Problem is bad design
Thanks for watching Apollomuscles. This building is less than 20 years old and the design generally was pretty awesome, especially the living area around the pool.
You need to warn people you are Real Estate Hucksters.
