So I just want you to know that your videos have absolutly changed my life. I personally struggle with a lot of anxiety and I came accross your channel a few months ago. I have since begun collecting and keeping my own plants! Although I've hit some bumps along the way, I have learned so much from you and your videos! Things from proper watering, avoiding root rot, treating for and preventing pests, the different substrates, lighting, and managing humidity levels! I even learned that I can order plants from Etsy! :D
Your videos helped me discover a passion I never knew I had!! As I see my plants grow it brings me joy and excitment like never been. This hobby sustains me, and I thank you for sharing your passion with us. It has changed me life in a very special way.

I don’t think I ever wait until the root system is established…I generally pot them when I see that the roots are in active growth, usually when I see 3-5 cm long fresh roots, and I haven’t lost any of my props. I also use rooting gel. But as long as they are kept warm, in bright light and in moist and well draining substrate, the roots will keep growing 🙂

My rule of thumb for roots systems is to plant up when the roots are similar in length to the plant (obvs not with larger monstera and snake plants) but sometimes it’s a wing and a prayer 😂 x

The prop boxes are looking good. I'm currently propagating in boxes of perlite which include Hoya biakenensis, Scindsapsus treubii dark form, Pilea glauca Greyzy, Hoya picta, Hoya burtoniae variegated and ....wait for it....Pellionia pulchra, which I purchased the cutting after seeing it when emma gave you yours. Have a fab holiday.

8:10 ha! Yeah my monstera dubia props have been in the box for well over 6 months. They’ve climbed the box walls, and have started to flip over and grow on the lid. Which is impressive considering it’s plastic 😂

I have not been successful with sphagnum moss propagating but you make me want to keep trying. I think my moss has been too wet. Love propagating with perlite and water.

For ROOT PRODUCTION You have to keep your PROPAGATION BOX DARKER.. for leave production you have to keep it lighter!!! 😉🌱

Hey Claire, may I just start by saying that I came across your channel a few months ago and have been binge watching ever since lol, you are so likable and genuine thank you for the informative video. I've had very good success using Moss mixed with a little perlite and using a plastic food storage bag instead of a lid. I've been a bit nervous about going full perlite but I will give your method a try to prop some of my Hoya. You have a scindapsus platinum (Thai cultivar) mine just put out it's first leaf since it's been with me and I'm completely in love with it.

I am trying to propagate my philodendron that was dying. I tried putting it with leaves in jars with water but the leaves were dying and falling off and no roots were growing. Someone suggested the wet stick method which I am working on now in perlite. I have lost a couple of the sticks to rot already and trying to make sure I can get a few to survive.

Have you run into issues with molding or cuttings/nodes getting mushy? That's my constant issue with prop boxes ugh.

    • @rayacat1
      @rayacat1 Рік тому +1

@@54654io Yes, I have had this issue but not since I put my light closer to the box.. I remove my cuttings and boil the perlite to keep it fresh at least 2x a year. I also do not water the perlite often.

Hi! I live in Belgium. I saw the moss you used in this video, and I immediately went looking for it. I couldn't find a good one, so do you perhaps have some suggestions for great quality moss? Also, I am wondering what moss you are using? Thank you! 😊

  • @daym8

Can Succulents root just in perlite I'm assuming of other plants like pothos can root why not Succulents?
This is just my opinion however.
Thank you for this wonderful video.

Help. I new to the propagation “box”. I don’t have a light cabinet. Sitting it outside, do I put it in the sun or in a partially shaded area like my porch. Zone 8. About 100 degree F in a Texas USA.

Also, can we propagate snake plant, cordyline, adenium and jade plants in perlite?
