Thanks for video. Now I understand what Carpatho-Rusyns feel when Ukrainians/Galicians start talking about and explaining Carpatho-Rysyn history and Identity)
I like your channel and again this is from an outsider looking in and I mean no disrespect but do you think that the reason that Ukrainians feel the way they do towards Rusyns in the present day have to do with the fact that many Rusyns back then were Pro-Russian bc that’s how it seems even if the present day Rusyns are Anti-Russian. It seems that a lot of the mistrust could stem from that and not saying that how Ukrainians treat Rusyns is fair bc it isn’t fair. Rusyns are distinct and deserve their own benefits and deserve to be treated as their own and not a Ukrainian or Russian offshoot as they aren’t that just like how Ukrainians and Belarusians are not an offshoot of the Russians no matter what narrative Putin and Moscow tries to paint.
I think it's more because our identity makes their narrative uncomfortable for many reasons. We could go back to the struggle between Rusynophiles and Ukrainophiles but the reality is that Ukrainianism is anti-Rusyn due to its core beliefs and not about us in specific.
@@lemkowithhistorytrue but at the end of the day it would be nice if everyone could just get along, for Ukrainians just to recognize Rusyns as their own distinct people with their own history and give them autonomy and for Russia to leave Ukraine and recognize that just bc Ukrainians, Belarusians and even Rusyns are East Slavs does NOT make them Russian
Let me just ask you a question, if belarusians and ukrainians(ruthenians or rusyns back then) existed as a separate nations, why wasn't there a specific "carpathian rusyns" in Austro-Hungarian empire?
Maybe, but I'd say it has to do more with the fact that it feels like their ancestral name is getting stolen. Like, almost a half of Galicia identified their language as rusyn even as late as in 1931.
@@oneartftw All native east slavs of Austria-Hungary were officially designated as "ruthenen" in German language. The division between different groups of "ruthenen" was caused by its collapse and creation of several different states they found themselves in.
I don't think they were loyal to the Austrian Crown. Good grief. The Hapsburgs had been at war with Russia since the Holy Roman Empire invented the Pope and wanted to consolidate the church. Who'd ya think those wars were against?
Actually, You had not mention with Jakob Golovatskij - fr.Markian Shashkevych and Ioan Vahylevych!!!🙏🔥🙏 So called "RUTHENIAN TRINITY" Shashkevych, Vahylevych and Holovatskyj have done a huge work, as a part of the Orthodox panSlavonic line of st.Metropolitan PETRO (Mohyla) since 1721 A.D.! Fortunately that hellish movement was destroyed. God bless Galicia
