As someone who's primarily played using a computer keyboard and used to play piano, it's honestly not too unreasonable. It might actually be better than a computer keyboard because all the buttons are the same size so there's no issues with weird distance differences.
The best part is that he's playing Haehyun, who is actually a robot being piloted by a teenage girl. In other words, he is fully connected with his character because he is literally driving the robot around.
I can imagine using 3 white keys for left, down, right and a black key for up. Then use the right hand side of the piano for the buttons in the game. You could even have traditional 6 buttons with punches on black, kicks on white.
I'm not gonna lie, I was fully invested in the story...until I saw he wasn't turning the wheel. It's literally just a controller stuck on a wheel. It's still impressive and unwieldy and cool, but it just takes away so much of it when you realize it's just a pad on a wheel....like learning how a magic trick is done.
