Our Dear David has left us. I still can't believe he's gone. His vocals were unique and his flute playing was so soft and beautiful. Why, just why, why is life like this. I am speechless.
This is actually the first song I ever heard from Big Big Train...Very Big loss to the music world
@@flcartfan Judas Unrepentant was also the first song I heard from Big Big Train, over 8 years ago. I've been hooked ever since.
R.I.P Maestro David Longdon :(
REST IN PEACE DAVID LONGDON
REST IN PEACE DAVID LONGDON!!
R.I.P. David Longdon.
So British. So classy. Thank you!
I am 64 and started listening to pop, then rock, then when Jethro Tull came out with Thick as a Brick and Genesis was doing Lamb lies down on Broadway, I started gorging myself with progressive rock and it was freaking awesome. I still will choose prog. over any other music. Each album you listen to you can relate to in some way. I wish we had more prog music coming to the USA but their is not enough smut and metal in prog to satisfy them. Focus, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, ZAPPA. The new prog I am just discovering and it is awesome. BBT being one of my most favorites.
BBT is indeed awesome. Try The Flower Kings, Transatlantic and IQ (if you already haven't) And Nick's old band Spock's Beard is darn good too
Don't forget Flying Colors :) I would also add new artists like Plini, Tesseract and more to a long list of prog and prog inspired music. It's a good time to be alive when it comes to music, if one just avoids radio and tv!
Parallel or 90, Porcupine Tree, Pineapple Thief.
Check out Haken and Riverside
Vinnie Sullivan Agree! check out Beardfish adventurous compositions with a wicked sense of humor. Rikard is a true talent
I just found out about David's departure. I am heartbroken. I went to this show: the first Big Big Train live show. I went from France and my dad went all the way from Bolivia. We met David several hours before the show at the entrance of the venue. He was so nice... We have a picture with him that I will cherrish. I loved their music and it accompanied me through so much. I basically listened to BBT non-stop from 2013-2019. My favorite band. Rest in peace. So much talent.
RIP David Longdon, such a presence in his voice 😥
Shivers all over !!! RIP Mister Longdon!
This incarnation of BBT is one of the most talented bands I've ever seen.
The passing of David Longdon is a terrible tragedy, as he had much much more to do in his life and he was unbelievably talented. RIP David.
Longdon (RIP) and Gregory... I miss them.
Amazing performance from a supremely talented and creative band - and I had the pleasure of being in the audience for this show!
As a 15 year old musician, I can say these guys are vastly better than the musicians today, they could also be considered one of the best Prog band of all time
Man, these guys can play.
His voice will be with us forever!
progressive is still alive and kicking :)
does anyone else get goosebumps listening to this? fantastic stuff.
Yes. I am soooooooooo glad this music has come into my life.
big big loss R.I.P. Great David
Vocals are amazing. Everything else, Phenomenal. We as human beings are incredible.
Long live Western culture!
I met Tom Keating once. Incredible artist! Love this song about him.
I swear I get chills everytime I watch this....
Absolutely stunning. RIP David Longdon. I suspect your legend will grow continuously now that you are tragically gone.
What an amazing drum solo,,, true talent ....
The best band in the world! Rest in Peace David, you were a legend...
what an awesome start to a song full credit to the drummer
Big Big Train has a new enthusiastic fan from italy; they are really great
This band never cease to amaze me. This song is pure genius.
Rip David
Really really nice to see Rikard Sjoblom (from Beardfish) here with BBT :)
I'll never be able to express enough thanks to Nick (followed his career many years before BBT) for turning me onto BBT.
Rip David.😭
Reminds me of those early 70s Genesis albums great to here there are still quality misicians capable of making great music like this.
What a band, What a performance. Wonderful !
Listen to that bass! What a great band
I think that was the Friday night dress. Was that a tear in your eye Mr Longdon at the end? Brilliant, a wonderful reminder, of an excellent evenings entertainment.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!!!
- I appreciate how the lead guitar player was doing his best "Steve Howe".
Yeah, Dave Gregory is channeling Steve Howe and Steve Hackett here 🎸
Sad to have so many great prog rock English singer/musicians leave us in the past few years. Along with David that includes Greg Lake and John Wetton. RIP to all.
Fantastic! That must have been Friday Night! I want to go again!
Song’s epic.... love Nicks drumming, great musicians all round!!
I’m a french new fan… I’ll have a lot of songs to discovery… and many CD to buy…
Wonderful voice and a wonderful band. Full sound with 3 keyboards, drums, bass, guitars, flute and violin. What a brilliant song as well. Reminds me of Jethro Tull, Magenta, less of Genesis. They will be massive in 2017.
Things like this make it so, so, so difficult to be impressed by anything I hear on the radio. I mean, more difficult than it already was.
Perhaps you're listening to the wrong stations ? :-)
Robert Dore Probably. Well, I don't actively listen to it, I just hear it at various places.
Hey! I am with you, I also like rap, old school rap. I also enjoy Yes, Pink Floyd, Renaissance, Metallica, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky,Rush... This is great music, but what is played today is in many cases, what people are convinced is great by marketing. And it just goes on.
"All is Music" (John Lord)
Travis Johnson Exactly right. We need to invent a new word for stuff like this. Awesome just does nor do it justice.
Great to see Dave Gregory in full flow after XTC and Wired to Earth
Still a bloody good band playing a bloody good song really bloody well.
This band is absolutely amazing!!!
Actual musicians, how refreshing. No back up dancers, no sampling, no auto-tuning, no rap......
Saw them perform this at Cadogan Hall...... totally lost my shit!!!
The best of sounds all in one band. Fantastic!
what a great band. love to see them at Fairports Cropredy convention in 2017. terrific!
Ooh yes!
Can you fix it, Dave??????
RIP David. Never got to see you with band, but I look forward for the chance to attend a concert of BBT someday.
The guy from Beardfish makes a phenomenal work here.
Nick d. awesome 🥁
they brought beardfish's front man, an absolutely astunishing musician. cannot believe it yet
just superb, love this band.
Nick rules!!
Sjoblom is a true virtuoso...and Longdon best vocalist in Prog today
This piece is the Firth of Fifth of XXI century.
Amazing band. They won best band of 2016 at prog magazine awards last night. Well deserved.
Just amazing!!
Lord, that is some good drumming!!! More ghost notes than a stationary store doubling as a haunted house.
The fact that this video is of such excellent quality and has been put up by the band gives me confidence that a DVD will be released soon , fantastic performance by a great band!
+Bob N There will be a Blu-Ray and high-definition download release. It will consist
of live-in-the studio performances of a number of songs plus some
documentary footage and film of four live songs from the Kings Place
gigs. Bonus material will be available online and may include interviews
and drum-cam footage. Release date is March 7th 2016.
Cool , thanks Malcolm
Great to see them performing live.Lets hope a dvd is to follow.
+stewart conacher March 21
Fantastic! so happy to see you performing one of my favourite tunes from English Electric!
Beautiful song
amazing performance, omg..
They take the best of 70s prog and meld it brilliantly. Just started going through their discography and I took Gabriel-era Genesis, Kansas, Yes, and Jethro Tull all from them.
Bravo! The art rock is still alive! :)
Amazing performance of each musiciants in the band. And the personal thanks to the sound engineers for the livest and clearest sound. Thank you for the philosophical song. I think this song is not only about the art forger. I think this song is about the history forgers too.
So good I get goose bumps listening!
I've been listening to prog for over 35 years, and these guys are pure genius! Love the "Gabriel'esque voice!
He was runner up to replace Collins in Genesis in 1996.
Niiiick!!! ❤
RIP: David Longdon
I was there - best gig of the year - can't wait for the DVD....
I had tickets for their gig at Friar’s Aylesbury in July 2020. Thankfully they rescheduled of July 2021!! Can’t wait!
Stumbled onto this accidentaly coming from Morsefest (and NdV, for that matter). Did only know the band's name until just know. My first encounter with Big Big Train. And what can I say? I'm floored! Fantastic. Stunning. Gotta check this band out. Wow!!!!
amazing
That was sensational! I love all, especially NDV.
God I love this song.
God I love this band.
God I love prog rock.
If only BBT would come play over where I live... but wait, did I just read they might tour North America in 2020?
God I love good prospects.
Loved that.
This is incredible!
Awesome.
Love this song. Love this band.
Nick is such a class act
Wow!
Fantastic!
Que banda foda!
j adoreeeee vivement un passage a paris
Great job
I keep coming back to this video and being amazed at how well performed it is. Every single member of this band is mint. I sincerely wish I could have seen this in person. I can't afford the new shows, either, but I dearly wish I could. Best Wishes.
Such a seriously cool tune. Great musos indeed!!
Rest in peace, David.
Une découverte.. musicalement c'est du lourd.
Temon, el preferido del disco (que tambien es mi disco preferido). Que bueno encontrar esta excelente version en vivo!!!!
What a great band and what an amazing song! Really in love with this one live version, even better than the studio one. This happens rarely, but when it does, I know the band is a spectacular one. BTW, they remind me of Genesis.
I am so very afraid to say - because Genesis is really great - but this band is better than many Genesis songs that I have. (Not talking about post Gabrial era, that is surely weaker.)
Ok, maybe not better - stupid to say - but closer to my musical taste. Yes, it is the correct phrase.
My hat is off.
(And my pants are shited...)
okay, these guys are twice as many in the band than Genesis, so they have some advantage. :)
Sonzão!
Such an upbeat wonderful sound with a great slow melodious break before building to a masterful finish. Thanks for posting. Bring on the Cadogan concerts.
Dave Gregory grooving to NDV's solo. Love it!
Gran banda! Cómo mejoró con la inclusión de Dave Gregory!!!!!!!
The band step into overdrive at 6:50...stunning!!
