Hi @saforo, Facing similar issue with WD elements external hdd. It is the new one but accidentally slipped from my hand from >10cm height.
Now the light is blinking and making a small sound internally but not showing up in my laptop.

Hello brother, so sorry to hear of this situation. In this type of condition after slipped off, the read and write heads of the drive will be stucked. So to recover your data I will advise you to seek the services of data recovery experts because opening the drive yourself from this point is very complicated any spec of dust to infiltrate your drive can reduce your chances of recovering your data from this condition. If the data is not so important then I will advise you buy another drive or replace this drive with an SSD instead. They are not so expensive when you know how to get them. In case you need help to get a quality SSD at a cheaper price I can show you where you can get them and what you should look out for. I'm really sorry for the condition of your drive but from this point is very complicated brother. Hope you understand.
@@saforotech8552I have an wd my book that I got in like 2014 I believe it fell from about 1 foot height on to a soft pillow then didn’t work. The light comes on but I hear some noises like a disk spinning and when I plug in to my computer it says not initialized. When I plug in to my blue ray player nothing shows up. My external hdd doesnf show in my computer but it shows in disk management as unknown drive unallocated 999gb. Will this method solve the problem? Whats the risk of doing this on my hdd😢?
First of all I would like you to use this software called hard disk sentinel from this video : ua-cam.com/video/zYqpPFi91LE/v-deo.html . to test your hard drive and give me the results. The software will show all potential health problems of your drive and from there I can give you further guidance. But this solution doesn't come with any form of risk. It just gives you access to be able to clean the hard drive internal controller connections on the printer circuit board. So please just do the testing and let me know brother. My read and write heads are not even spinning what should i do
The read and write head don't actually spin but rather moves on the platter to take and give information. The platter is where all your information is stored..it actually acts as a memory for the hard drive. So please brother check if the hard drive is not spinning at all or is spinning but the read and write head is stuck or not moving around the platter. WhatsApp me for further chat on 00233246842497

Will that work on external seagate hardrive?
Brother this Will work on any hard drive be it desktop and laptop hard drive of only it's a dirt or corrosion issue. But please not that the same symptoms sometimes can be as a result of faulty read or write head or even spindle problems. The dirt or corrosion build up at the read or write head connector to the pcb normally occurs and this solves that problem If that prevents the drive to work for that instance . Hope you understand brother.

This doesn't work for every situation. So if it doesn't it means your read and write heads are out of control and needs to be replaced.

So sorry brother. It means the hard drive read and write head is faulty and can no longer read information from a the drive plate. That is why you are still getting that signal.
