I get it that Israel will release x thousand Hamas combatants in exchange for few hostages which feels like a bad deal but strategically it means you can rest, regroup and once all the hostages are released you can resume fighting against Hamas. It was a good strategy

Hamas was not eliminated. In fact, Blinken has told us more Hamas members have been created than eliminated. That should surprise no one.
