  • Fisher Investments’ founder, Executive Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer Ken Fisher describes underappreciated economic drivers that could lead to a strong rebound in stocks sooner than many think. For example, robust loan growth along with the unwinding of COVID lockdowns in China-the world’s second largest economy-could drive higher economic activity and have positive effects.
Ken argues we are experiencing a low growth economy that many are confusing with recession. Ken says that, even with the recent Fed rate hikes, the 90 day-10 year yield curve is wider than it was in January-indicating a healthy lending environment. Additionally, a normalizing post-COVID economy and easing supply chain bottlenecks set the stage for potential upside economic surprise.

After reading so much this year on finance including Fisher books, I have heard nearly ever person, financial "guru's", experts and so on, it appears to me there is so much pessimism that the markets are almost bound to surprise many of markets improving. I am hearing supply chains are most definitely improving and inventories are exploding in some areas such as Target, Walmart and others. As I walk through Home Depot and Lowes, I see lumber piling up so lumber prices for example should be on sale along with others. I'm also hearing semiconductor backlogs are being reduced as well so inflation should then become deflation. So I'm in the camp of improving market conditions. Thanks for keeping us level headed Ken.

Thank you Mr. Fisher--- very interesting. Im re- reading my favorite investment book ( I have almost as many as you have cool ties-lol) Your "Only 3 questions that count". Thank you for all your information over the years. I used to subscribe to Forbes for many years - just to read your column. You have helped me make life very comfortable. Hike on! ( hope you still get a chance to ) I may hit the AT later this year if it ever quits raining here on East Coast. Thanks again for the many years of good advice.

Mr. Fisher, what do you believe is a better way to address inflation other than tweaking interest rates? Is there a video that you’ve released?

Just curious where these videos are recorded. See the fireplace was going strong. Personally I live in Alaska…to warm to use the wood stove for now. Must be mighty cool there.

I'm pretty sure that is a gas ornamental piece in the recording studio designed to create ambiance, not heat.

This is exactly what I’m thinking about. 3% yield vs 7% yield, and the latter grows 8% a year.

The only positive thing is my FSPHX fund has a 15% annual rate of return since 1981, too bad Buffett missed it perhaps it's too simple?
