Also charted at #5 for Henry Burr and Albert Campbell in October 1920, #11 for Reed Miller in September 1920, #5 for the Andrews Sisters in May 1941, #31 for Tab Hunter in 1959, #14 for Rosemary June in 1959 on the UK Singles chart, and #17 for Wayne Newton on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in May 1965 (#52 on the Hot 100). Also recorded by the Platters, among others. Written by Neville Fleeson and Albert Von Tilzer.
    B-side is "Tripoli" by William Robyn and Louise Terrell.

    I noticed a lot of popular songs from 1920 (and even 1921) still have that sweet, sentimental Victorian/Edwardian era sound to them, but it's not really a surprise considering the early parts of a decade bear characteristics of the previous decade.
    With that said, great song! I love it. Been a huge fan of songs of that era for a long time.

    I love music by Charles Harrison if I am looking for rather Irish. My favorite song by him is pretty kitty kelly .

      Ada Jones fan I just got Henry Burr's Columbia double dose demonstration record and the 1909-1910 double disc Columbia demonstration record, along with about 20 early(pre batwing)double sided victors and Columbia double discs(pre gold band) with 1 batwing and 1 modern (1930s) out of place decca

      1:47-2:17 is literally that songs tune! this would have been 15 years after in the shade of the old apple tree so perhaps it was a reference?
