"Enjoyable activity" is a great way to collect. There are many ways one can spend cash to enjoy themselves for hours and have just memories while with stamp collecting you have an artifact of your enjoyment. Great video!
😷😷🇺🇦😷 Thanks for sharing your “secrets” 🎣 As enjoyable was listening to the stories behind some of your “catches”; this is why I like your posts so much… it’s the storytelling. 👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing your experience so generously. Knowledge not "available in books" and which can be very expensive to discover with your own trial and errors. As always - enjoyed the video!
I buy on Stamp Auction Network and Siegel Auctions but I'm going for the higher end of the market. My goal is to get MNH airmail all 95 graded. XF used for the classics(1847-1900). I also can't get that pictorial 1869 lincoln, it's minimum of $2000 for a nice copy. The one thing to watch out for when buying from dealers is make sure the certificates match! It's easy to overlook changes that have been made to the stamp to improve it. Year of the certificate matters :D Not that they do it on purpose but I just think they haven't looked into it that closely. Any flaw will drastically decrease it's value. I also buy plate block collections of the common stuff(1940's+) and try and find the most centered examples possible.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, highly appreciated. Ha ha, no chance for me when I was a young collector to get some stamps or even collections from relatives or friends, because they didn´t collect or lost their stamps during the war. Ebay Germany seems to be a little bit different compared with ebay in the States, because the demand over here might be a little bit higher. No chance to get a SG quality colonial collection in Central Europe for a few bucks like you recently did. Anyways, some great stories again, keep it up ! Greets from GER, U.
Ah, that makes a lot of sense... though demand is picking up in the US for stamps too. A reflection of the growth in the hobby which makes me thrilled!
I recently completed several pages in my Deutches Reich collection, and it’s just sooooo satisfying. Still need to soak some hinges from some other German stamps so I can complete a few more pages. On some pages I’m still missing only one stamp though, so yeahhh. Most of the stamps that still need to go into the album I also need to check watermarks for, so that will be quite a task... Then need to bring my Netherlands collection in order, have so many stamps to add to it that still haven’t been sorted or soaked of the paper/hinges yet.... Might also buy a stockbooks specifically for my Bolivian stamps. Think I might want to specialize in that country too. (The earlier stamps are really pretty) I was looking though and there are no specific albums printed for Bolivia, not even from Davo (who has quite a lot of countries), so I’ll either have to buy a blank album or just use a stockbook like with my Netherlands album. Lots of fun ahead for me haha.
Thank you for sharing this. Q: How do you keep an inventory of what you have or a Want list? Do you use any stamp collecting software? Plain old Excel? (Maybe it’s an idea for another episode?) Thanks again!

Completing a page and for me, getting the Scott #1 of a country.
Filling a page is such a thrill!
I loved your joy at filling that page. Thanks so much for sharing!

Sorry OCD kicked in, the red stockbook on the far left is upside down! Great episode by the way.
I’ve always loved your pocket knife. It’s beautiful. What brand and model is it?
