Combined with the dog-like creature in Olimar's family picture in Pikmin 1's ship logs, this seems to be the Hocotation equivalent of a dog. 8:20 That's in the Hocotatian alphabet/language. I think some dedicated Pikmin fans already translated them as "Hocotate Transport Company" or something like that.
If they upped the limit to 200 Pikmin on the field and let us divide them evenly between all 8 types for story mode, I would not mind if Ice were the only new ones. As balanced as Pikmin 3 is, it was always disappointing you couldnt use Purples and Whites for the story. I think it's such a natural step for them to divide 200 pikmin into an even 8 groups of 25, and would better justify only a single new pikmin. The bigger maps even call for bigger groups, and going from 100 to 200 on the field is a big enough change to the formula to keep things fresh. So much lines up that I'm almost convinced we aren't seeing another Pikmin.
I’m still holding out for Brown Pikmin, that bury in the ground. They avoid land enemies and can attack enemies that dig underground. Though they have low attack power.
Fun fact: Ice Pikmin freeze by attacking, not by being eaten, you can easily tell by looking at the blue circle around the Bulborbs health. Its just coincidence that it froze after eating it, but maybe that would also increase the freeze meter.
I still think Oatchi is a dog from their home planet, in the first game Olimar refers to his dog that resembles a Bulborb and this one doesn't look far off.
My only thought with him being from the home world and not the pikmin world would be that Oatchi obviously has no issue breathing the oxygen of Earth and if he was a Koppaite or Hocotatian dog he would need a suit like every other captain has in every pikmin game.

While I am very glad to see all the previous Pikmin returning (hopefully to the main story. Purple and white were featured on the landscape poster for 3 but were reduced to challenge mode) I’m worried about how purple, rock and blue will be utilised. We know Ice and Oatchi make blue pikmin obsolete in some ways except for underwater battle and treasure hunting. Hopefully Arlo’s prediction for deeper underwater exploration or maybe an underwater cave will happen so the blues can be properly utilised. Unless there are glass walls, Oatchi seems to have stolen the rock pikmins’ ability for smashing stuff with his charge ability. And rocks also took over the purple pikmins’ stunning ability. I’m sure the team have plans so that none of the Pikmin are under-utilised but we’ll have to see. I have a theory that certain Pikmin will be restricted to night mode.

I played pikmin 3 deluxe back in 2021 and loved it, I wasn’t expecting it to end so suddenly and was really sad, I’m definitely gonna pre order pikmin 4 once the release date gets closer

We don't know how the game handles this of course, but my thought was Oatchi could have a stamina meter and if you're riding him it wears him down after like 10 seconds and takes time to build back up.

HEADS UP!!! I'd like to point out that Pikmin 3 official art ALSO had all pikmin types in its official art, but didn't include all pikmin in the story mode, so don't get your hopes up too high, as it could just mean they will be available in a challenge mode.
A few observations 1:05, I don't think it's the enemy eating an ice pikmin what makes them freeze, but rather, the amount of attacks ice pikmin have dealt to it, notice the blue bar around the enemy's health bar, it seems the bar fills up way before the bulborb finishes eating the pikmin, it just so happens to finally freeze when the bulborb eats the Pikmin, but I don't think it's because it ate it, however, it could add to the meter as well. 4:40 I don't think the new characters are related to old ones, from the shapes of their ears and the text on the ship, it is safe to assume they are Hocotatians while Brittany and Charlie are Koppaites, however, they do share a lot of traits with Koppaites so... maybe they are half blood? 10:56 I don't think that's a Yo-yo, but a pair of castanets, it reminds me of the "Harmonic Synthesizer" in Pikmin 2, albeit the colors are inverted. Also, the "berry" seems to not be a proper treasure, but a ultra-spicy berry from a Burgeoning Spiderwort. the right treasure at 11:11 looks similar to a Loquat, aka a Velvety Dreamdrop. 12:00 I think it indicates the level of rage the creature is in, as we can see, while it's light blue, we don't see Ice Pikmin or blue being the only ones be capable of attacking it, it also correlates with the speed the arachnorb stomps around.

Hear me out BIG TIME what if… the rocks around the onion are MELTED ICE PIKMIN thats why theres ice crystals everywhere you need to collect them first in order to make ice pikmin, but at the end of the day they cant go with you and they melt where you left them
What if you could use the ice like crystals to make other onion landing spots? It would explain there similar appearance and give a reason to seek them. Maybe making the game more personalized and could align with an open world aspect. Or if you want to collect areas in a certain region. Anyway hope the quality of life and challenges are balanced if thats the case

The first thing I saw when I saw the castaway pilot laying on the ground with a gray suit on was: "we can customize our characters". And I still believe that, as I feel the characters are just a little bit more generic than previous characters. Would be cool to make and name your characters and even give them a voice
