Is it ok to blow out the eggs before decorating? We raise poultry, and have blown out many different types of eggs before, but occasionally the eggs break during the process. I’d hate to have that happen after going through all the work of decorating!
I just asked Cate for her insights and this is what she said: I’ve only tried it once myself, but a lot of people do it. Here’s an article that gives a couple of options-a beeswax plug (that’s what I did) or a silicone plug that you can purchase online. www.pysanky.info/Preparations/Sealing.html Additionally, you’ll need to weigh the egg down to keep it in the dye. I found that a plastic container filled with a little bit of water works well. Hopefully that helps!
I asked Cate for clarification and she said, “You’re correct-with the egg blower, one hole is sufficient; however the air from the second hole does help the insides to blow out a little easier. Both methods work.” Hopefully that helps!
What a great tutorial!
I’m glad to hear! Thank you. 💜

Why make two holes in the egg? That egg blower was designed to allow you to make only one hole.
