Amhrán Dóchais
‘Sé Amhrán Dóchais dán le Osborn Bergin a scríobh sé i 1913 le fonn, Mór Chluana, a bhailigh Patrick Weston Joyce i 1873.
Slán go deo le brón is buairt,
Slán gan mhoill dár gcaoineadh dhuairc;
Canaim amhrán dóchais
I dteanga bhinn na Fódhla,
‘Gus seasaimis go beomhar
Os comhair an tsaoil.

2.
Ní bheam feasta leasc gan luail,
Cráite, cromtha, fannlag, fuar.
Neart is brí na hóige
Dár dtarraingt tríd a’ gcomhlann,
Is bainfimidne an ceo seo
Do phór na dtréan. X2
3. Clanna Gael faoi réim gan ruaig!
Beidh siad saor is béarfaidh bua.
Leanfaimidne an lóchrann
Do las ár sinsir romhainn,
Is ní heagal linn go bhfeofaidh
A gcró ‘nár ndiaidh. X 2
Translation:
Bye forever, sadness, sighs
Bye right now to gloomy cries
A song of hope I sing you
In Irish sweet and true
And let’s stand and sing it proudly
for all the world. X 2
No longer will I be lazy, unmoving,
Tormented, bent, weak, cold.
Strength and youthful vigour
Pulling us through this struggle
And we’ll remove this fog
For our offsprings’ strength. X2
The Gaels flourish unrouted!
They will be free and be successful.
We will follow the torch
That our ancestors lit for us
And we do not fear that their bravery
will wither after we are gone. X2
I understand no word, but I like the sound of all your songs.
this should be our anthem
Who cares what I thing, Im Spanish but I love this ancient culture, I learning to play by my self but haw I wish have born in scotchland, keep it right you have a cultural treasure there in ireland. Gaélic and celtic nations, among them is Spain and the preroman Europe
I play Irish music, and know some Spanish and Galician music too… There is a huge connection between Spain, Iberia, northern France and beyond with Ireland… especially Galicia, Asturias, and the northern part of Spain. Instead of jigs, they dance muñeras i think it’s called. Many common themes, and the ancient Roman region of Gaul has its connections to the word “Gael”. The name Galicia is very similarly related to “Gaelic”. I know that many Spanish musicians are very protective of their music and traditions, as they should be, but the influences can’t be denied! The gaita, violin, the dances, even the language.. I think Galician language is almost like a Celtic fusion of Spanish, Portuguese and Irish, when you see it written! Even in the show Riverdance, flamenco and Spanish dance is featured with the song “Firedance”.
nicest version of the song I have heard so far - gotta love Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh
Absolut großartig- man ist sprachlos 🥰
Woo hoo! Go hálainn!!!
Ar fheabhas! Guthanna álainn ag teacht le chéile....tá draíocht ag baint leis an gceol seo. Maith sibh uilig!
So beautiful.... wish I was able to speak the language
An instrumental version of this air(Mór Chluama) is played as the Taoiseach's Salute on official occasions.
Cad a dhéanfaimid gan dóchais? Míle buíochas Muireann agus a chairde don bhronntanas dóchais seo. Tá guthanna álainn agaibh go léir. It's not many styles of music can harmonise hope, sadness and joy as naturally as the Irish. Thank you, it brings back memories.
I love the Irish and Scottish Gaelic. I can sing in the Irish and Scottish Gaelic the song called Oro
Go Halainn a chara so beautiful song ever Go Raibh Mile Maith agat

Go haoibheann!
Magnifique !
Yeehaw!!! 😀
It's amazing pipe find the same songs played on different ways on Irish or Scottish bands for example this song I heard it delete by The Chieftains in one of its celebrate albums
Tà fáilte romhot..
Tha na cànanan Ceilteach cho breàgha!
anam agus áille
Is this the same Gerry O'Beirne that played with the Bothy Band all those years ago? And produced with Micheal and Kevin on 'Promenade' and such? It must be... I have found a treasure! Many, many thanks and blessings upon you all.
Same tune as "Dochas" by the Chieftens (Hope)
Go hálainn! Ba cheart go mbeadh náire ar mhuintir na hÉireann astu féin. Tá a dteanga caillte acu.
That is what 800 years of oppression and genocide does to a people
@@seanhartnett79 Independent for about 100 years, no oppression anymore but still most Irish people don't want to speak their own language while they all learn it at school. Leoga ba chóir go mbeadh náire orthu sin nach labhrann í. Tá Gaeilg líofa agam féin, gidh nach Éireannach mé agus nach bhfuil mé 'mo chónaí in Éirinn fiú amháin...
@@gerald-dw7vp the 6 counties still aren’t free.
@@seanhartnett79 Níl an teangaidh sláintiúil sa chuid don tír atá saor le 100 bliain...
@@gerald-dw7vp unfortunately my ancestors lost their ability to speak Irish in the 1950’s or 1970’s,
❤️❤️❤️🕯️🙏
thar barr!
‘S é an trua nach foilsíonn sibh na liricí i dteannta leis an amhrán álainn. Ceol agus ceoltóirí iontach.
